Ethan pov

As I step out of the shower and wrap the towel around my hips, the pounding on my door becomes louder, more desperate.

With a heavy groan, I leave the bathroom and stomp to the door, unlocking and pulling it open right before the massive fist connects with the wood again.

In hindsight, it's a shit idea because the fist connects with my face and sends my whole body flying.

“Oh, shit,” I hear Elias hiss before he appears next to me and hovers over me. “Are you okay? I didn't mean to hit you, I'm so sorry Ethan, I really didn't mean to.”

He looks panicked and the look really doesn't suit him. The way his eyes widen when I feel something trickle out of my nose and the coppery stench of blood fills the room makes Elias look like a bug in the wild.

I swipe the blood away and grin. “I've had it worse.”

He rolls his eyes and shakes his head, clearly not very impressed with my attitude.

“Why does it smell like sex here?” He suddenly asks, his face twisting up in a grimace. “Shit, you're a pervert, Ethan. At our parents house? Seriously?”

Elias helps me up and I just shrug. “Not the first time and I'm definitely not the only one who has jerked off in this house. All of us were teenagers at one point.”

His eyes look me up and down as the frown on his face only depends. “You don't look like a teenager to me now. Can't use an excuse like that.”

Instead of arguing about my alone time, I wave him off and change the topic. “Why did you come here? I don't remember having anything to talk about or do. Is it something serious or are you here to get on my nerves? The brotherly duty and all that bullshit, right?”

Elias chuckles at my assumptions and sits on my bed, making himself at home in my room. Fucker has his own room, damn it, why use mine as a goddamn lounge?

I stay rooted in my spot, waiting for an answer. Elias looks tired, more tired than usual and when he runs a hand through his hair, I know I'm in for some juicy gossip.

“Dad wants to give the Council three days to fix things. I insisted we give them no time at all, like giving them the same benefit they've given to the packs those assholes have attacked in the past, but he's not listening. Insists we do it the right way or don't do it at all.”

I roll my eyes at his words. Sure, he's frustrated and visibly angry, but whose fault is that?

If Elias wanted immediate action, he had to go after mom. She's the crazy one, she wouldn't bat an eye and would actually enjoy a chance to go after the Council.

Dad, however, yeah, he's the brain of this operation. He always thinks two steps ahead, always takes the safest route and keeps everything in his mind rather than act on instinct. That's just how dad is.

“Did you try to talk to mom?” I ask, arching an eyebrow, pretty sure he hasn't.

“If I tried, do you think I'd be here?”

I laugh. See, I'm right. Always right.

“Anyway,” Elias huffs and runs his hand through his hair again. “That's why I came here. Everett is a little more like dad, but you, my dear brother, are just as bat shit crazy as mom is. You're my best option.”

“Ooohhh,” I drag out and clap my hands. “You sound like you're up to no good. I'm in.”

He flashes me a shit-eating grin, his eyes sparkling with mischief and promise of manu illegal things to come. I like how he's thinking.

“See, point proven. You're really my best option. I want to go after her.”

I barely hold back from screaming at the top of my lungs. Fucking finally someone sees my point and refuses to sit down and wait like some doormat mutt.

Whatever Elias is planning, this has to be fun. There's no other option left. He isn't one to break the law or disobey the commands from our parents, so when he does, usually it's a big thing.

“I'm so in. About goddamn time. I want Ash back too. I want her back with us, close by, safe, and if possible, in my bed so I can ensure she's safe even while she's asleep.” I grin at him.

Elias has a knowing look on his face, but I choose to ignore it. Whatever the guy is thinking, there's no point in denying that my little time of fun was fueled by the woman we're about to steal away from whoever has her.

“You really like her, don't you?” Elias asks, probing for answers.

I huff and cross my arms in front of my chest. “Of course I do. And so do you.”

After a moment of silence, we both speak up at the same time, “and so does Everett.”

Speak of the devil, as soon as his name is said out loud, Everett enters my bedroom like he too, owns it. “Everett does what?”

I glance at my brother, grin and lay it all out without an ounce of shame. “Like Ash. Like, like a lot.”

His cheeks turn a shade darker and while I can see that he's about to try to deny it, there's no point in trying. We all have weird feelings for Ash and neither of us can build a lie strong enough to make anyone believe that we don't.

Everett clears his throat and looks between Elias and I. “So, what is this secret meeting about?”

Of course, taking the safest route here, just changing the subject to avoid being questioned for any longer.

Elias stands from the bed and approaches Everett to slap his hand on our brother's shoulder. “I came here with an offer for Ethan. He's in, but we both know it's not hard to convince him with slightly illegal shit. I suppose now that you're here, you need to decide if you're with us or against us.”

Everett glances at me, so I grin even wider and just lay out the idea. “We're going to get Ash and she's sleeping in my bed.”
