Mated to alpha triplets at all-boys school Chapter 158
Kaiden pov
Soon after Benjamin and I end the call, I shove my phone back in the pocket and start thinking about a backup plan.
Technically, I have it all settled. He eventually agreed to go along with my plan of getting that bitch here and letting me torture her before he gets his hands on her to prolong the suffering.
That's a good plan, but again, it's only a technical possibility. There's no saying how willing Benjamin will be to go along with it.
The man is unpredictable. I never know what comes to his mind and in reality, he is right. I have more to lose than he ever could.
If this comes to light, the fact that the prince himself paid hunters to get his mate back, I could kiss my place on the throne goodbye for good.
“Fuck,” I hiss and run a hand though my hair, trying to settle the anger and frustration bubbling up within me. Unless I find a way to calm down, I'm as good as fucked. “I need to do something. I need another plan.”
I jump to my feet and start pacing the office, looking around like a madman, hoping one of the things on the shelves might inspire my future actions.
Nothing helps. I even try to focus on my breathing, which again helps with nothing.
This shitstorm is of my own damn creation, that much I understand, but I fear that I'll need help to claw my way out of the grave I've dug for myself.
Phone in my pocket vibrates with an incoming message, but for the time being, I ignore it. Distractions won't help me come to good ideas regarding my issues.
I keep pacing the office until my wolf starts growling at me how stupid and foolish I'm being. He has a point, not that I'll ever admit it.
After another five minutes, my phone vibrates again with another message and this time, I decide to check it.
If nothing else, maybe someone could inspire me a little.
As I unlock the device, I grin at the message on the screen. It's Scott, one of my closest friends, reminding me of the drinking we have planned for the evening.
Fuck, does this guy know me better than anyone does. He just feels that I need the time off from this bullshit.
But, to make this friendship deal a lot sweeter, and way better, Scott also happens to know every single detail about my life. Starting from pack problems, going to any issues I might face in my personal life and finally, coming to the most recent mess I made. He knows about the hunters too.
An idea pops in my mind. Since he's already aware of the hunter stuff, he might have an idea of how I can deal with this blackmailing situation from Benjamin.
Reading the earlier message from Scott, I grin even wider at his words. The rascal is still offering some of his latest trophies to me. Any other day, I would be interested but ever since I set my sights on the running mate, I really haven't felt like wanting any woman who isn't her.
Pressing the call, I bring the phone to my ear and wait until Scott answers the call.
As always, his greeting is both ridiculous and somewhat heartwarming given that he's probably the only person I can be myself around.
“Hey, what's up, sugar muffin?” He chuckles and I can already picture the grin he's probably sporting.
“Not much, muffin top,” I match his energy and we both burst out in laugher.
By the time we stop laughing, a comfortable silence takes over until Scott catches on it and clears his throat. “Kaiden, you know you can tell me everything, right? I'm here to listen and keep whatever you share a secret. Nobody but us will ever know.”
I gulp and nod even though he can't see me do those things. Scott is like a lifeline I desperately need these days. Without this guy, I don't think I could breathe, let alone make decisions.
I suppose now I understand the bond my father and Gio share. Those two are as thick as thieves and I have the same bond with Scott.
Soon, I really should fix their relationship as I honestly wouldn't want my friendship to be destroyed because of a stupid one time mistake. Suppose I'll have to go to the cells and talk to Gio first. If he agrees to play along with the story I told my father, he wouldn't have an issue with getting over it and returning to things as they were.
“I made a massive mistake and there's a chance I'm about to pay a great price for it. I'm not sure where to go now. Someone has shit on me they can use to blackmail me,” I spit out the fact without unnecessary details.
Scott is a simple guy, he never asks for more than I'm willing to share, which might be the main reason why our friendship works so well.
“Okay, let me think,” he mutters and hums for a few seconds, a classic Scott move while he's deep in thought. “Do you want to fix that mistake now or do you need an alternative solution?” He suddenly asks.
“Both, I suppose?” I'm not sure if I'm answering or asking a question in return.
“How about you flip the tables on this person?” He asks and I can hear that hint of mischief dripping from his voice, letting me know he's up to no good.
“How can I even do that?” I whisper and slowly walk towards the office door, already weighing the options on hand.
“Disappear for a bit. Just go ghost on everyone, including the pack. Later you can return and blame the person who's blackmailing you. Even if they have some serious proof against you, you can always claim it's fabricated and you have no knowledge about the matter. Then, you claim this person drugged and kidnapped you. There. Kaiden, be realistic and think, who would your father believe - his own son or some random person?”
