Mated to alpha triplets at all-boys school Chapter 89
Ashley pov
After the beach trip, all of us finally got the peace we were so desiring to experience.
But that wasn’t all. It wasn’t just the peace, it was also the fact that Kaiden disappeared. At first, I didn’t believe it, but he was really gone. Like, for good.
I haven’t seen him for days, and boy, if that hasn’t taken the weight off my shoulders I don’t know what ever could. Just the fact that he’s not around is making me so stupidly happy, I can’t deal with it.
Okay, maybe there are a few more details that make me happy these days. Maybe, just maybe, the new phone that the triplets gave me and the messages they send me throughout the day make me happy too.
Plus, I can have a call with Anno whenever I want, so every time I check up on my best friend, I feel a little more normal than I am.
Today, I woke up in a great mood. Slowly everything is getting in places and for once, I’m happy to let my guard down a little. Also, even the triplets following me around everywhere don’t really bother me anymore.
Ethan is attending the same class as I am, so it’s no surprise he keeps nudging me to get my attention and even starts scribbling stupid questions in my notebook.
“Will you stop?” I ask, no anger whatsoever.
Ethan glances up to finally notice that the Professor has left the classroom and grins. He moves his chair a little closer to mine and leans in to whisper in my ear, “you know, we’re getting more comfortable around each other these days. Aren’t you scared the others will shart whispering about us being too gay with each other?”
I barely hold back the snort of laughter that threatens to escape me. There shouldn’t be such a thing as too gay to begin with. Love is love, regardless of gender.
“I don’t care,” I shrug and focus my gaze on a small speck of dirt on the wall. Maybe I started this conversation, but I really don’t want to keep talking about silly rumors.
“Well,” Ethan drags and tosses his arm over my shoulders. “I wouldn’t mind. I’m a simple dude, I like something, I want it and I get it, all the rest can get fucked. And I happen to like you, Ash. See, simple.”
Yeah, things are definitely getting back to normal if Ethan starts flirting again. That’s like his second nature - all this teasing and wanting to get closer to everyone. I’m sure if I gave in from the get-go, he’d be bored of me by now and on a hunt to win over another best friend’s heart.
The same as I’ve been doing for a good while, I laugh off his statement and push him away a little. “Don’t be such an ass and focus on your notes, okay? Or, better yet, doodle in your own notebook.”
“Ash,” he groans and pulls away. “No fun, I tell you, you’re no fun. Come on, loosen up a bit and be gay with me for a little. Make those assholes squirm in their seats, make them uncomfortable.”
“Your face is uncomfortable,” someone shouts from the back of the classroom.
“Well then keep looking at it, dumbass,” Ethan laughs and flips off the person without looking at them.
Sometimes all this Alpha macho bullshit really annoys me, but for the most part, I’ve gotten so used to everyone’s antics that I don’t pay attention anymore.
“Touche!” The guy from the back shouts and the whole class erupts in laughter.
This feels so good, like home of sorts and deep down, I wish I would never lose the feeling. All of those guys, although rough around the edges, they’re all pretty nice and chill.
Even though I started off on the wrong foot with some of them, these days they’re just part of the family and that’s all.
The laughter still echoes against the walls when the loudspeaker crackles and the headmaster’s voice greets the students. I expect another news or something, but we’re all left speechless when he announces that Ethan has to head to his office.
“What did you do?” I hiss the question, sure Ethan has set something on fire again.
The ass just shrugs his shoulders. “I don’t know. Have been the bestest boy for you lately, this shit ain’t my fault, double swear it ain’t.”
“Alright, just go then. The headmaster sounds very eager to see you, something might have happened to Elias or Everett. Just go and find out, okay?” I almost plead with him, hating how vulnerable I feel.
Ethan stalls for a moment, grabs my hand, squeezes it and looks me in the eyes before whispering, “I won’t be long, promise.” Although his voice is a mere whisper, I can hear how serious he is. “Just don’t go anywhere until I return, yes? We agreed that you will have one of us by your side at all times, please don’t break the promise.”
“I’ll wait,” I blurt out without thinking and watch him release me to stand up and leave the classroom.
Thankfully, as the door behind Ethan closes, no one bothers to start gossiping about why he might have been called to the office. Since the Professor doesn’t return either, I decide to focus on reading my notes and try to learn something new.
It actually works for a couple of minutes until the phone in my pocket vibrates with an incoming message and distracts me from learning.
I look around to make sure the Professor hasn’t returned while I didn’t pay attention and then pull the phone out of my pocket.
The message is from Anno. I frown a little as I tap the notification. Anno isn’t one to message me during classes so whatever he wants has to be serious.
Meet me in the forest behind the school, is all the message says. No hi or can you sneak out, absolutely nothing, just a cryptic sounding command.
Looking around again, I scan the faces of other students and let myself decide what to do next. I told Ethan I would wait until he comes back, but it’s Anno who wants to meet me, so why wouldn’t I?
I can trust my best friend, he has to have a serious reason to want to see me. Slowly, I gather up my stuff and stand up to leave, only to be stopped by one of the guys. “Ey, Kingston, where to?” He shouts.
“I’ll skip the class, not feeling that good, sorry guys,” I mutter and start for the door.
No one asks more questions or tries to stop me. It’s been like that for a while - ever since the accident during the training, I’m allowed to come and go as I please. Talk about privilege.
When I’m out of the classroom, the halls feel eerily empty, but I pay no mind to it as I head towards my goal. Whatever it is, Anno needs me. He’s been at my side as the best friend many times and now, it’s my turn to repay him.
