Mated to alpha triplets at all-boys school Chapter 101
Ashley pov
The knife barely presses into his skin, but it’s enough to break it and draw a little blood. My eyes widen and breath hitches as I scramble my thoughts and try to pull them together.
Then, I glance at the hand that holds the knife. It’s rough, dirty and larger than any other hand I’ve ever seen. Slowly, I let my eyes scan up until my gaze meets that of the attacker.
His eyes glow red, like any rogue’s would, but there’s something awfully off about him. Like he’s a shifter, I know he is, but he isn’t one of ours. I’m not sure why, but I can feel that fact in my veins and the hairs on my body instantly stand up.
“Who-” I try to ask, but my voice breaks and my throat feels so dry forcing out the words feels like swallowing chunks of sandpaper.
The man grins at me, his smile unusually wide, his teeth rotten with some visibly missing.
“Ah, don’t be shy little pretty thing, ask away, I’m an open book for you,” the man mocks me.
It’s been a good while since the last time I felt this scared. Of course, the situation isn’t nice at all, but usually, I’m fully capable of remembering who I am, where I came from and what I’ve learned over the last few months. Many might think otherwise, but I know I’m a trained warrior and could even try to fight another Alpha in a real fight.
But this individual.. I’m not sure. Everything about him is so off, all I can think of is trying to find a way to escape this situation.
However, since I’m surrounded by Kaiden’s pack members, his father and warriors, I don’t think they would allow me to just run away from here. And not to mention the fact that they look just as horrified as I feel.
Taking the risk, I steal a glance at the people around us. Even Kaiden’s father is pale, nearly paler than his son, who’s being attacked by this odd individual.
Since no one speaks up or tries to save their future Alpha king, I take a deep breath, clear my throat and meet the attackers eyes again. “Who are you?”
I’m surprised that I manage to ask the question, but the man only beams at me almost like... Like he’s proud that I found my voice?
“Constantine StClair at your service, pretty thing,” the man introduces himself without hesitation.
All I can do is raise an eyebrow and wait for more. How is his name helping me with anything, especially since I don’t recognize it? I’m certain this is the first time we’ve met.
Seeing the confusion on my face, the man tilts his head and watches me for a moment. “I can’t believe you don’t see it,” he mutters, making me feel even more confused than before.
“Don’t see what?” I ask without thinking.
Truth be told, in most situations, asking questions can land you in loads of problems. That’s just how it works..
Sure, I’m not the one who’s being threatened with a knife, but that’s beyond the point if the attacker is looking at me like he’s been starving for years and I’m about to become his next meal.
Cold shivers run down my spine as a spark of excitement appears in the man’s eyes while they scan me from head to toes.
“You’re a pretty one. Way prettier than others. Why did they take your hair?” He asks, catching me off guard. I’m about to question him, but the man frowns and keeps talking. “Pretty girls have long hair. I’m not a big people person so I guess short can be a fashion choice, but long would look better on a pretty princess. I can see by the look on your face you liked your hair too. Who took it? Who must I kill?”
With every word, his voice grows louder, more passionate. Maybe I’m wrong, but despite the fear I feel every time I look into this man’s eyes, I feel like he’s on my side.
Only time will tell if he really is, but I can’t help but feel like he really is.
Glancing around again, I start wondering why everyone’s just standing around and watching. Kaiden looks like he’s about to shit his pants, which in this situation is completely reasonable, but the rest of the people around us are just watching.
No guards are pointing their weapons at the attacker, none of them are even considering shifting into wolves to attack, nothing. Even Kaiden’s father just stands there, looking like he’s frozen in time.
When I remember that the massive man is waiting for an answer, I almost slap my forehead, but instead, I just offer him a shy smile and whisper, “I like my hair like this. Never planned to cut it, but it was a necessary sacrifice in my situation.”
The rational part of my mind keeps screaming that I should ask him why he decided to attack Kaiden and what he wants, but I avoid the questions like a plague. If there’s a tiny chance someone followed me to get me out, this sudden attack is a welcome distraction.
My heart feels a little heavy in my chest as the triplets cross my mind. Would they bother following me at all? They have no idea I am their mate, so do I mean enough to them as a friend for them to take such a massive risk just to ensure Kaiden doesn’t have his way with me?
As I sink into my thoughts, I don’t notice how the man turns to the crowd, the knife still against Kaiden’s throat as he roars at everyone.
“The king isn’t stupid, he knows what I am. You morons didn’t teach the girl, her naive nature is the consequence of your lack of sympathy, so she has nothing to do with this. I’m taking the girl and we leave,” he announces, each word passing his lips sounding more angry.
I look at the man, my jaw drops so low it nearly hits the floor.
“The pack is surrounded, the house is too, my brothers stand with me and by me, they won’t leave without me and the girl. Must I spill the brat’s blood for you to part the way for us to leave?”
