Mated to alpha triplets at all-boys school Chapter 30
Ashley pov
“That was close,” Rose whispers and nearly collapses against me as soon as the triplets leave.
Well, leave in a sense. In reality, Elias has to drag both Ethan and Everett out of here by the collars of their shirts while both look ready to kill.
“What the fuck is their problem?” I mutter, not really expecting an answer.
“Jealousy,” Rose whispers and starts giggling.
Her laugh is so contagious, I can’t hold myself back from joining in on her amusement. The situation is ridiculous, yes, but at least now we can just laugh at it.
When she calms down, Rose wipes the tears off her cheeks and gets off my lap. “But I’m serious, Ash. They’re jealous, even a blind person could notice that.”
“Jealous of what?” I play dumb, furrowing my brows.
She gives me a ‘you must be shitting me’ look and shakes her head. “We both know what those overgrown brutes are jealous of.”
Instead of giving in, I decide to double down on denial. “No, we don’t know. Or at least I don’t. They have no reason to be jealous.”
“In your mind, maybe. But in my mind, from my point of view, as clueless as those morons are - they have plenty of reasons to be jealous. Anno is a good friend, keep this in mind, but he isn’t great at keeping secrets, especially if someone figures a half of it out by themselves.”
“How much has he told you already?” I groan out the words, ready to beg the Goddess to make the ground open and swallow me whole.
“I know those three are your mates. And I’m pretty sure they are starting to figure something out too. If I must judge by the way they look at you and the death glares they send my and Anno’s way too, yeah, they’re all gone.”
I laugh at the absurdity of her statement. She knows nothing, doesn’t understand what she is talking about!
“Especially Ethan, he has it bad and can’t pretend for shit,” Rose adds to make the situation way worse than it was a second ago.
We both look at each other, me, trying to pretend her words don’t scare the living hell out of me and her - all full of herself, pleased.
Since she realizes I refuse to get dragged into this conversation, Rose chuckles and points a finger at the bag. “You can use the bathroom here, I suggest you go for tampons, not pads. Any other day, I would recommend pads since those are more comfortable, but since you’re running and fighting throughout the day, I think you can’t afford any accidents.”
I bend down to grab the bag and nod. She walks me to the bathroom and if she has anything to say, thankfully, she keeps it to herself this time.
After I’m done with everything, I thank Rose about a hundred times while she just brushes me off with ‘girls stand for girls’ talk.
Soon after, we’re sharing a quick hug goodbye and I bolt back home. I’m beyond relieved to find the apartment empty - none of the triplets in sight.
“So far, so good,” I mutter to myself after I take a shower and start getting dressed. Once I deem myself presentable and make a mental note to get another haircut - I rush to the next class.
When I barge into the classroom, I’m met with my biggest fear. “Not good, so far not good,” I think as my eyes instantly find the triplets, all of them standing at the furthest end of the classroom.
Only Ethan is supposed to be in this class, so seeing all of them really catches me off guard. In fact, even Anno is here, which is something I notice only when my best friend approaches me.
“All good?” He whispers the question, leaning in a little closer to me.
The triplets immediately notice the action, but I don’t step aside or try to create distance between us mainly to gauge their reaction.
“Yes, Rose helped me with everything and will continue helping whenever I need it. She’s a great friend,” I reply, forcing a smile.
Anno’s smile is genuine as he grabs my hand and squeezes it a little. “Wonderful news! Your wanna-be enemies are glaring, by the way. Ethan’s been sending death glares my way ever since I entered the bloody room.”
“Why are they here? Why are you here?” I suddenly remember the first questions that came to my mind when I arrived.
Anno just shrugs. “No idea, the professor said something about wanting to test us all, not only the warriors.”
“Well, that’s shit,” I mutter and look away.
“Why?” Anno appears puzzled, which proves just how much he really knows about women’s anatomy.
“Because of my situation. I’m in pain and cranky, I would rather spend the day sitting, or better yet - in my bed.”
“Tough luck, buttercup,” he snorts. “Let’s move, we’re about to be called for one on one fights, you won’t get to enjoy yourself at all.”
Just as Anno predicts, the professor calls our attention to him and pairs everyone for sparring. Not surprisingly, he pairs warriors with other warriors to make the whole thing more fair.
I’m not complaining until my name is called along with Ethan’s. My face instantly falls while his - it lights up like a Christmas light. Great, lady luck has completely forgotten about my existence as it seems.
We take our places and shake each other’s hands as a gesture of good will - something the professor thinks is important.
“Don’t worry, Ash, you’re my best friend, I promise to go easy on you,” Ethan beams.
Does he have any idea that the promise does nothing? The look on his face isn’t something that promises me an easy way out of this shit.
Before I can overthink anything, the professor shouts for everyone to get in their positions and attack once we’re ready.
Ethan instantly charges at me and I barely step aside to avoid his first blow.
“Woah, what’s wrong, you’re slow as shit today,” he teases me.
I roll my eyes at him and try to punch him, but even I notice that my performance is noticeably poorer than usual. I can’t fully focus on what I must do.
As we carry on with attacks and blocks, the professor even starts screaming at me. “Kingston, get your head in the game, you’re a wolf, not a snail! You’re lacking!”
I groan, angry at everyone including myself. I can’t just scream at them that I’m in pain and every moment brings discomfort because of the damn period. Yeah, it’s a natural thing, everyone is used to it by now, blah, blah, blah - well, sue me for all I care, I hate period days and that’s final.
As I go for another attempt to punch the smirk off Ethan’s face, somehow I manage to trip over my own feet and fall forward, right at Ethan. It seems I’m not the only one who’s lacking because he notices my mess-up far too late and I end up falling on him, sending his body down on the floor.
The moment his back hits the floor and my full weight lands on him, a huff of breath leaves his lips - the sound only to be silenced with my own, accidentally pressing against his.
