Everett pov

The crowd’s roar fills my ears as I glide across the ice, a rush of adrenaline pounding through me. My stick hits the puck, sending it flying past the goalie into the net, and the cheers erupt louder than ever. My teammates surround me, slapping my back, their voices blending into the chaotic celebration.

We won.

I don’t know how, but we did. My chest swells with pride, my heart pounding like it’s trying to keep up with the electric buzz running through me. This is it. This is what I live for - those moments of glory, of triumph, when nothing else in the world matters.

But then, the scene shifts.

The crowd vanishes, the ice beneath my skates disappears, and suddenly I’m standing in the middle of a quiet park. The air is crisp, the faint scent of pine and damp earth mix with something sweeter, something soft and floral.

It’s strange, this place. Peaceful, but out of place. My heart is still racing, but not from the game anymore. There’s a pull deep in my chest, tugging me forward, guiding me to something - or someone.

I see her before I realize I’m moving.

Ash.

She’s sitting on a wooden bench beneath a tall oak tree, her hair glows in the soft light. She’s smiling, and the sight of her takes my breath away. She’s never smiled at me like that before - so open, so happy.

“Everett!” she calls, her voice carrying across the empty park like a song.

She’s happy to see me. The thought shouldn’t mean as much as it does, but my chest tightens anyway. I don’t understand this feeling, this strange, unexplainable pull toward her. It’s not just attraction - it’s something deeper, something primal, something I can’t put into words.

I walk toward her, my skates somehow gone, replaced by sneakers that crunch softly on the gravel path. The closer I get, the stronger the pull becomes, until it feels like I’m drawn to her by an invisible thread.

“Hey,” I say, my voice comes out softer than I intend.

She beams at me, her eyes sparkling with a warmth I’ve never seen before. “I was waiting for you.”

“For me?” I stop a few feet away, hesitant, unsure of why my heart is racing like this. And why was she waiting for me? How did she know I would be here? How am I here, damn it?

She nods, patting the empty space on the bench beside her. “Come sit with me.”

I hesitate for a moment before moving closer, sitting down carefully. The bench creaks under my weight, but she doesn’t seem to notice. Her eyes are on me, bright and full of something I can’t name.

“You did great,” she says, her voice soft.

I blink at her, confused. “What?”

“The game,” she says, laughing lightly. “I saw you. You were amazing.”

Her words send a warmth through me that I don’t know how to handle. I should say something, thank her, make a joke, but my throat feels tight, and all I can do is stare at her.

She’s so close now, close enough that I can see the faint freckles on her nose, the way her lashes cast shadows on her cheeks. The pull in my chest grows stronger, sharper, until it’s all I can focus on.

“Why are you here?” I ask, my voice barely a whisper.

Her smile softens, and she tilts her head, like she’s trying to figure me out. “Because you’re here.”

Her words don’t make sense, but at the same time, they do. She’s here for me. She wants to be here with me. And somehow, that feels right. I reach out without thinking, my hand moves toward hers, but just as my fingers brush her skin, everything shifts again.

The air grows heavier, charged with an energy that makes my skin prickle. I turn my head, and my stomach sinks. Elias and Ethan are standing at the edge of the park, their figures blurry but unmistakable.

“What the hell?” I mutter under my breath. They don’t move at first, just stand there, watching us. But then they step forward, their faces becoming clearer, their eyes locked onto Ash.

“Elias? Ethan? What are you doing here?”

They don’t answer. Ash doesn’t seem surprised by their presence. She turns to them, her smile still warm, still inviting, and for a moment, I feel something like jealousy twist in my gut. “They’re supposed to be here,” she says, her voice calm, like this is all normal.

“Supposed to be here?” I echo, as my head starts spinning. “What are you talking about?”

She doesn’t answer me. Instead, she stands, her gaze shifting between the three of us like she’s trying to decide something. The pull in my chest grows stronger, but now it’s messy, like it’s stretching between all of us. I don’t understand it. I don’t understand any of this.

Elias steps closer, his expression tense, like he’s feeling the same pull I am. Ethan follows, his usual cocky grin nowhere to be found.

“What’s going on?” Elias asks, his voice low, his eyes fixed on Ash.

She doesn’t respond right away. She just reaches out, taking my hand in one of hers and holding it tightly. The warmth of her touch sends a shiver through me, but it’s not just me anymore. She reaches out her other hand, taking Elias’, and then Ethan’s.

“This doesn’t make sense,” Ethan mutters, his brows furrowing as he looks at her, then at me.

“You’ll understand,” Ash says softly.

The air around us hums with energy, the pull between us grows stronger, tighter, until it feels like we’re all connected by invisible threads. I look at my brothers, my chest tightens with confusion and something else - something I don’t want to name.

“This can’t be real,” I whisper, my voice shakes even as I try to keep it steady.

Ash turns to me, her eyes lock onto mine, and for a moment, everything else fades away. “It’s real,” she whispers. “You’ll see, Everett. You’ll all see.” Before I can respond, before I can try to make sense of any of this, the world around us begins to blur, the park dissolves into nothingness.

I wake up with a gasp, my chest heaving, my heart racing like I’ve just run a marathon. Sweat clings to my skin, and my hands tremble as I press them to my face.

“What the hell was that?” I mutter into the darkness.

I can still feel her touch, still hear her voice, still see the way she looked at me, and at Elias and Ethan. Why were they there? Why do I feel like she’s mine, like she’s ours? I shake my head, trying to shove the thought away, but it lingers, stuck like glue.

Ash… What does it mean?
