Mated to alpha triplets at all-boys school Chapter 27
Ashley pov
How can I possibly explain what I feel right now?
To my best ability I can describe the feeling as a lump that hasn’t just gotten stuck in my throat. No, it feels like the tiny, innocent lump has erupted like a doormat vulcano, finally letting out the pent up anger and letting everything in its wake burn to nothing but ugly ash.
“Students, keep close to your partner, please,” the professor calls out over everyone, literally bringing my attention to the voices in the background.
Among others, I catch Ethan complaining that he is supposed to be paired with me, but the professor is on some sort of power trip, so he’s using it to his advantage.
I swear, the situation is getting more ridiculous as we go.
“Now, if you don’t mind, I would appreciate it if everyone could start paying more attention to what I have to say,” the professor announces.
Again, explaining the feelings is hard enough, but what is even harder is putting in words the effect this man has on everyone around him.
There’s like a weird wave of power that washes over us all and the voices slowly fade, all eyes focused on the man.
Slowly, he approaches me and stops at my side. “Since this is the first lesson, I will start easy with you guys. Today, you will learn how to use the energy of your partner to successfully finish the task. Does anyone have an idea how that could be possible?”
His eyes scan the confused faces, but for once, he doesn’t look at me at all. The professor gives everyone a few minutes to figure out the idea he has, but since no one speaks up and shares their guesses, he chuckles and shakes his head.
“Magic isn’t just a few words you mutter or chant to make things happen. The reality is that magic is in everyone, it’s just that not every person finds out about their abilities. Some don’t care so much, they never figure out how to make things happen.”
Before the professor can finish his speech, one of the guys steps closer and interrupts him. “So, you’re telling us that we’re all able to use magic, we just don’t know how?”
“Yes,” the professor announces, nothing but confidence lacing his words. “Everyone in this class is fully capable of using magic to their advantage for as long as you pay attention and keep trying, even if you fail at first. What a lot of Alphas don’t know is that you possess more power than just that of muscles.”
“Alright,” the guy slaps his hands together and rubs them a little to show how ready he is to try out his abilities. “What do we do to check if we have it in us then?”
The professor laughs at his eagerness. “I’ve been waiting for you guys to come up with ideas. Do you have any?”
I almost feel bad for the guy when his face falls and he mutters a weak, “no, I was hoping you would tell us.”
Another moment of silence takes over. I keep repeating the professor’s words in my mind until the realization hits me.
A loud gasp escapes my lips, which makes the professor grin. “There it is, one of you actually figured it out.”
Everyone’s eyes focus on me, shy smiles and expectant eyes.
“The professor mentioned we need to learn how to use our partner’s energy to finish our tasks, right? I might be mistaken, but I believe we need physical contact for that. Sharing energy and everything.”
I couldn’t hide the blush that covers my cheeks even if I really freaking tried to. Not because of my words or the man that stands next to me, but because of the glare that Ethan is sending my way.
He looks pissed off. More angry than I have ever seen him.
I swear, if he takes this as another mystical rejection bullshit, I will go mad myself. The guy has no chill.
He might be my mate, but he doesn’t know that, I hope, and I’m really not obligated to be his friend.
If I could, I would move out of the shared apartment and go solo until we all graduate and finally go our separate ways.
“Good job, Kingston.” The professor slaps a hand on my shoulder and squeezes it a little, which I suppose is his way to show me he’s happy I figured it out. “Ash is right. You need to hold your partner’s hand to share your energy and see if you figure out how to manipulate objects. Here,” he stops talking and starts walking towards a massive, long table in front of the classroom.
I slowly follow him until he stops at the end of the table and pulls off the cover to reveal a few rocks.
As he points his finger at the rocks, the rest of the guys round the table and exchange weirded out glances. “These rocks are your first task. I really don’t care what you do for as long as it doesn’t hurt your partner or other students. It can be movement, reshaping or anything. Focus on channeling the energy first and then, let’s see how far you can get without more directions. It’s a test drive of sorts, hence why you won’t earn any points today. Unless you hurt someone, of course.”
With that being told, the professor turns to me and grabs my hand. “Let’s try this, yes?” He whispers and smiles at me.
The moment I nod in agreement, a surge of strange energy transfers to me. It’s so intense, so bloody powerful, my breath gets caught in my throat.
Actually, it takes me a moment to hold it all in without collapsing from being too overwhelmed. And while I clearly struggle with this, he doesn’t say a thing and acts like everything is completely okay with this situation.
It isn’t, damn it. Even my limbs don’t feel like my own anymore, let alone thoughts. I swear, if he is flipping through my memories like some book right now, I might lose it.
Even as I finally catch his gaze, he doesn’t speak. Instead, he nods towards the rock, silently encouraging to begin practicing.
Here goes nothing...
