Mated to alpha triplets at all-boys school Chapter 55
Ashley pov
As predicted, I barely closed my eyes for the entire night. By the time I finally manage to drag myself out of the room, I’m so done with everything, all I want is to turn back and collapse. Maybe sleep for a week straight.
However, the very frantic Anno that runs from one side of the apartment to the other, holds me back from doing just that.
“Good morning,” I grumble, faking a somewhat happy mood. “What has your little butt on fire this fine morning?” I add the question, a feeble attempt to ease the mood.
“We’re late, darn it. Good thing you’re awake, we need to hurry to get some food. I slept in, didn’t make anything to eat and to be fair, good food in the fridge is on the brink of expiration, if not death. We need to run to the dining hall so we can snag some of the good foods before the barbarians arrive.”
Anno speaks so fast, I barely catch on a few words.
“Huh? Late? What? How?” Are the brilliant questions I can come up with.
“Stop playing, let’s go,” Anno nearly shouts and grabs his shoes, one foot out the apartment.
Without thinking too much, I run after him. Any other day, I would laugh at his mood since Anno is crazy about his food intake, but today I don’t have the energy for it.
By the time we enter the hall, some people have arrived and all of them look at us like we’re some kind of psychos who just escaped asylum.
Truth be told, we might look like that. Hell, I didn’t bother to look in the mirror before we left, so I’m pretty sure both of us look like hot messes.
Ever the saint, Anno takes the lead, grabs us some food and a table for us to sit at. The first three cups of coffee help me feel a little more like a human and once I force down some food, I can actually focus on our surroundings.
Not far from us sit the triplets. Ethan, as always, glares at Anno and starts waving at me like some lunatic once he notices me looking. Ha, now who’s the one who looks like a psycho, huh?
Elias is reading something on his phone and Everett, well, he just stares up at the ceiling like he has no care in the world. Good, at least he looks like he has no memory of what happened in my fantasy land.
While I’m slightly relieved to know this, I can’t help but wonder if he really doesn’t know or if he’s just pretending. Overthinking and being paranoid are about to become my downfall if I don’t learn how to control those two things. And soon, darn it.
“Finish your food, we don’t want to be late for classes,” Anno grumbles as he shoves the last bits of food in his mouth.
Usually, after he eats, his mood brightens, but it seems today isn’t the day to test him, so I comply and force down as much as I can.
It’s enough that my mind is working in overdrive, the last thing I need is more troubles with my body.
After we leave the dining hall, Anno still keeps to himself, which seriously starts to concern me. I make a mental note to question him at the end of the day if his attitude won’t change, but for now, I focus on what is ahead.
I assume we will spend the day together, but Anno stops me in my tracks and shakes his head. “Nope, we don’t have much classes together today.”
“So that’s why you’re acting like a beat crawled up your back end and died there, huh?” I chuckle, crossing my arms in front of my chest.
Anno rolls his eyes and groans. “Fine, you got me. I don’t know, I have a feeling that I need to stay close by in case that asshat arrives. I don’t want you to be on your own the next time you have to face him in person, okay?”
I raise an eyebrow and smile, “aww, you could have told me you’re worried about me. Is that really so hard, huh?”
“Fine,” Anno groans and looks at the floor. “I’m worried.”
Like an excited child, I quickly jump up to hug him and squeeze the poor guy as hard as I can. “I appreciate you, I really do, but I’ll manage. If everything becomes too much, I’ll find you, okay?”
“Okay,” he breathes out and hugs me back before we go our separate ways.
My day might have become just a little better knowing he’s so out of touch because of worry. It’s been a while since the last time I’ve felt like I’m a part of something bigger than myself, like a part of family, all that thanks to my best friend.
As I head to the first class, I can’t hide the grin that is plastered on my lips. I have someone amazing on my side and the first class is shooting. Just what I need.
However, once I open the door and step in, I freeze in my tracks. Instead of the classroom, I stand inside a massive room that reminds me more of a training gym than a class.
The Professor stands at the furthest corner with Everett and Elias next to him, discussing something. The view makes me frown, though. Usually, I have classes with Ethan, not those two.
For a moment, I just watch them and wait for more students to barge in, but there’s no movement even close to the door, let alone inside.
Soon, the Professor notices me standing near the door and grins. “Ash, come closer, we can start the class now.”
A little hesitant, I approach, looking between those two and the Professor, as if I’ll get any answers just by staring at them.
“The three of you were chosen for this particular training because if there happened to be a way, elite agents are needed for warrior training. Aka you, guys. You are my hand picked elite students, so I will ensure you receive proper sharpshooting training which includes sniper skills and access to various weapons and technologies. Including magic related ones. Exciting isn’t it?” The Professor looks and sounds like a child that just got the candy he’s been begging from his parents - the level of excitement is unreal.
Elias and Everett share a look, no doubt using that weird triplet wordless communication skill they have, but both look unfazed while I still stare around like an idiot.
Only when the Professor calls my name again do I react. As soon as my gaze focuses on him, he thrusts a bow and arrows at me and motions towards a target set on the other side of the gym. “Practice first, let’s see how good you are without prior training.”
I nod and get to my task. While I don’t hit the bull’s eye, the Professor is very pleased with my results, emphasizing that apparently I’m a great asset to the Academy since I show enthusiasm to learn and train until I drop.
All the while I listen to the praise, both Everett and Elias don’t let their eyes leave me, making me feel like those two know more than I’m actually willing to share.
Goddess, please don’t .
