Asher

"How's married life?" asked Duncan, and my smile said it all.

"I thought it would be wonderful, but it has exceeded all my expectations. Being with her is the most wonderful thing I've ever experienced in my life," I replied, and it was true.

My life would never be the same. I had wanted her so much, I had fought for her...and now she slept in my arms every night, carrying my mark.

I would never take such happiness for granted.

"I am so happy, Big Alpha. You deserve all the happiness in the world, and we all knew the Miss will choose you. But to see you together is truly a great joy. A Luna and an Alpha together, confirms that nature is wise," Jeremiah adds.

"Now I'm just worried about her safety and well-being, and as long as that bastard is on the loose, I won't be at ease," I said.

"I haven't found out anything about what Ava told us. I have a few theories, but nothing more, of course I'll keep digging. What we did find was something else, where we least expected it," Jeremiah said, and I was surprised to see that we were going to the dungeons.

"What is it?" I asked as I saw Duncan opening the doors.

"The Beta has been helping me out a lot, giving you time to be with your Luna," Jeremiah said to me, and I put my hand on Duncan's shoulder.

"Thank you, my friend. You know you can always count on us," I say, and I loved speaking in the plural from now on, because whenever I was involved in something, I considered my Luna in it as well.

From what I could see, my Beta had become quite involved in all of this, perhaps to help and also to not think too much of the demoness. I knew that all this had hurt him, a lot, and I wanted to find a way to help him.

"I know... having our Luna gives us strength," he said sincerely.

Suddenly, there in the dungeons, I saw some familiar Alphas behind bars.

"Alphas?"

They had been in the Council, and of course they didn't fall into the category of those we had much trust in, but all in all I was surprised to see them here.

"Alpha Asher... the vampire and your Beta are completely out of control," Alpha Tate told me, trying to get my attention.

"They kept us here against our will," another said.

"Shameless," Duncan said.

"What have you done?" I ask.

"We have done nothing," cried one and another.

"Silence!" the vampire shouted, and they all fell silent.

"We didn't mean to frighten you, Asher, but they tried to attack at the right moment of your ceremony," Jeremiah said, and I felt my wolf stirring on the verge of losing control.

"Excuse me?"

"These wolves kept up the appearance of allies during the council and the eclipse. But the moment the ceremony was organized, and the vows were to be said, they showed their true colors, the warriors stopped them" my Beta said, and I really couldn't believe it.

"You deserve to die!" Cormac shouted in my head.

"Is that true?"

"Of course not, that damn vampire wants to finish us off!" shouted Tate, who seemed to speak for the others.

"They were planning to make a ruckus and take your Luna. We think they're organized with Randall," Jeremiah explained, and if they hadn't punished them yet, I was happy to take them to the afterlife.

"How dare you? Taking another Alpha's mate! You bastards!" I shout while they give me reasons and excuses.

"Randall claims that the human is his mate, and in that case you would be taking her away from him," says Tate.

"All for a weak girl! Shame on you, Asher!"

"So much trouble for a human whore!" yells another.

I reached into the cell and I snapped his neck instantly. Held the other one grabbed him by the neck so tightly that they had to pull me away to keep from killing him on the spot.

"I'm going to kill them!" I shouted as they tried to calm me down.

"They will be punished, but we need them alive to get the information out," Jeremiah said.

"I volunteer to help you," I said with a big smile, while the Alphas did not seem very happy with these decisions.

That day and the next, we spent a long time trying to get the information out.

Maximus had given us the green light to do whatever was necessary. After all, I had every right, since they had tried to hurt my mate.

The evening came when I was with Millie, we had dinner, and some ladies from the castle had offered to explain some of the functions of being Luna to her, and she had happily accepted. At night, to sleep in each other's arms.

We were trying their best to get what we wanted, but these Alphas just seemed very stubborn, and suspiciously strong.

"Tell me! Where's Randall?" I asked, beating Tate.

"We know about The Whisperers...no point in denying it" Jeremiah adds, as he tried to charm him, but the Alpha wouldn't budge.

Duncan injected him with wolfsbane, Tate was in pretty bad shape, but I didn't care.

"You're going to die, Tate, you know that? The king won't spare you," Duncan says, and the man looks at me exhausted. But he doesn't answer.

"Jeremiah... there's nothing more we can do… just one thing" I say, and he reaches over, opens Tate's mouth and puts his fingers on his fangs. He realizes that the vampire is going to remove his fangs, and the Alpha gets agitated and screams.

"All right! All right!” he yells.

"Speak," I ordered.

"I... I only saw them once."

"Where?"

"Up north... where the vegetation is disappearing... where everything is dying," he says.

"How did Randall get there?... How did he contact them?" asks Jeremiah.

"Randall's father .... knew about the Whisperers, from Marco, in the last war. They offer help to Marco…"

“To become a hybrid…” Jeremiah whispers.

"You guys were involved?" I ask and he nods.

"What's the deal?"

"Power...the demons gave you power, us too," Tate says fearfully.

"That's why you can fight my spell and that's why you lasted so long," Jeremiah says with a sigh.

"Yeah... but if I'm going to die, I'd rather die a full wolf..." Tate says.

“What about her? A demoness…” asks Duncan.

“We… I never saw one” Tate replies.

"Tell us what you saw in their camp," I ask, and the Alpha swallows saliva and says.

"I didn't see it... I only know that there are thousands of hybrids, wolves and vampires... and thousands coming every day, more and more... to confront the king. Randall will be king... and you don't stand a chance..."
