Werewolf
Sold by my Alpha, bought by my Mate Chapter 77: Ruined Plans
Randall
She had never treated me like this, it would never have occurred to her to even raise her voice to me, let alone lay a hand on me. Suddenly, she was no longer a frightened little bunny, a little pigeon trembling on the ledge at the slightest sound.
Mildred seemed oblivious to the fact that she was a weak human being, and that everything she got in this life was because of me. What made her act this way?
Still, my wolf accused me of hitting her, and I didn't mean to, but the situation was getting out of control.
"You shouldn't have done that...a wolf doesn't hit his mate," Balo scolded me.
"Lots of wolves do," I replied angrily.
I replayed the image of her falling to the ground, and I don't like it. Obviously... it will be a retaliation. I had to stall for time until Jenny arrived with The Whisperers and got me some help.
"Not the wolves with fated mates. A true mate is sacred. We are nothing without her. If you hit her, you're hitting us," my wolf roared in my head.
It was only a matter of time before Asher showed up, his warriors caught me and when he came back, he was an infuriating hurricane and grabbed me directly by the throat.
"I knew you were a fucking bastard, I knew you were a waste of oxygen... but to hurt her? You deserve hell!" he said as he pushed me against the wall and I went down beaten.
"I'm going to kill you, I told you I would, and now I'm going to keep my promise!," he threatened, lunging at me. He was a big, strong wolf, but I managed to knock him down, and we began to fight.
I was motivated to defend myself and he... he was motivated by pride and desperation. He was more out of control, but stronger, and I landed several punches before I could finally hit him.
I enjoyed kicking him in the stomach and then in the head, but he still didn't go down.
"Why did you do that?" he asked me as he grabbed my head and slammed it against the wall. I felt everything in me bounce and blood come out of my head.
"Damn it, answer me?" he said as he hit me again.
I pulled a knife out of my pocket and plunged it into his leg, but he still kept going, not even noticing that I hurt him.
"You're going to let me go, Asher...you're going to do it right now," I kept telling him between gasps.
"Give me one good reason why I should! You filthy rat," he demanded.
"Because I am a guest of His Majesty...and you cannot attack me in your own pack. I have not attacked you, nor have I posed any danger to you," I retorted.
"You attacked my mate! You almost knocked her unconscious!" he shouted angrily. His men now took him and convinced him to leave me, which he did when he had no other way out.
"She's my mate too..."
"Why did you do that? You piece of crap!" he kept yelling at me as Duncan approached. He offered his hand to help me up, but I didn't take it and stood up on my own.
"The king has summoned us to the castle soon...a Council is coming," Duncan informed Asher, bringing him to his senses. Other warriors took me to my room. Meanwhile, I kept hearing Asher screaming for my life and wanting to kill me.
Poor deluded fool.
At least now I had the excuse that I couldn't move as I was supposedly resting to heal my wounds. But ´the next night, I moved as best I could into the woods.
I jumped out of the window and fell with great pain, rolling over several rooftops until I caught myself on the edge. My room was heavily guarded, but no one would believe I had the strength to do this.
I limped on, and saw warriors guarding the edges. I had to wait until well after dark to finish my approach, and in the forest all I had to do was follow the smell of sulfur, it was very faint, but I was used to it by now.
At least they were here... they had arrived. Jenny had made it.
It was strange that I had to wait for them for hours, until they appeared in a clearing, as usual.
"Finally you are here," I said to them, and Balthazar the vampire came too, he was carrying someone and dropped her by throwing her to the ground.
"Jenny..." I said with a sigh.
She was beaten, and I saw that he had fed on her. I screamed and clenched my fists.
"Why did you do that, don't you understand that I only sent her to warn you? And she succeeded!"
"I really thought we had an agreement, Alpha...that you would follow what we dictated, and instead you made rash decisions," the vampire told me, angry. The Whisperers weren't even talking to me, I could see them better and better, as if they were taking shape.
"Can't you see I did everything for you? I was in this damn pack trying to gather information, and I was doing my job," I shouted in desperation.
"And just because the information you gave us is useful, we didn't kill her...even when we saw the mark on her neck," the vampire said, and she lay on the floor in the fetal position, crying.
"I had to..." I tried to explain.
"You don't understand, do you? It's vital that you mark and mate with your true mate, the human... not this she-wolf," the Whisperer finally spoke.
"And I will have her... it's only a matter of time. Even against her will."
"You've ruined everything... and you don't even seem to realize it. Now you'll have to work twice as hard, and you've jeopardized all our goals," they tell me.
"I said I would get her and I will get her...in a few hours she will be mine," I say, but they don't listen.
"The time is coming to show your true face...pay attention to the signs. The council, we need you to be there, do what you have to do. Then... we have plans to make" he says, and they leave, leaving me there without further explanation.
How will I make it to the Council? Asher will do everything to avoid it, if he doesn't kill me on the way.
"I merely marked her...I don't understand what the big deal is," I ask them. The vampire grabs Jenny again, and she is bleeding.
"The decisive moment is coming...try not to screw it up again," they whisper to me.
"Randall! Mate!" Jenny screams, and it's the last thing I hear as they walk away.
