"We really have no news of her?" I asked, looking at a very defeated Duncan.

"Does she have some special relationship with him?" I asked him, trying to understand what was going on here. Duncan didn't seem to be jealous of her closeness to the king.

"Exactly, the demons need someone on earth to anchor themselves to. The more powerful he is, the more powerful the demon will be. It has to be something mutual, it's a kind of symbiosis, and it's usually a very close relationship. Maximus is her master, she worships him and would give her life for him. It's not like a mate bond... it's more like the kind of respect and devotion a Beta has for an Alpha," he explained.

"Something must have happened to her, we should look for her," I say now agitated.

Ava had taken care of me and helped me so much, I couldn't just leave her to her fate. She is my friend.

The worst part is that everyone is so busy with Council business, and we know an emergency is coming, that this issue is not a priority. Unfortunately for me, I was also spending a lot of time alone, especially away from Asher, and I was already missing him.

But I understood that these meetings were necessary, especially to desperately seek support from the rest of the packs and to get the power and strength we needed to fight what was coming.

I was having more and more dreams, and it was really worrying me. I saw like pieces of a puzzle where I was just an observer. I couldn't see it all, but to me, it was like water boiling and boiling and about to boil over.

And I was in Ava's room trying to find something that would tell me where she was and thinking at the same time when there was a knock on my door and Constantine appeared.

"Hello, Mildred, it's very nice to meet you. I am Luna Penelope," she said, smiling, and I saw the mark on her neck and knew immediately who she was.

"You are the human Luna..." I said surprised, and she gave me a beautiful smile, I didn't know what this woman had but what she radiated was magnificent, and I quickly wanted to be by her side.

"When Asher told us he had his mate... I can't even describe it, my mate and I cried, we had watched our friend suffer in your absence for so long," she said and I smiled.

"He is a wonderful man..."

"Yes, he is, and an important warrior and ally! I know you have a very special decision to make, but I can assure you that you will be very happy if you choose him as your mate," she says, and I feel myself blushing. I have never been so embarrassed to have others know that I have two mates.

"I know, I really do, the time I've spent with him has been fantastic, and visiting his pack was all I needed," I tell her, remembering those wonderful moments at River Ash.

"I cannot begin to explain how happy I am to know that there will be another human Luna," she says happily, and we talk for hours, she shows me pictures of her baby, her little Alpha, and telling me the story of her and Nathaniel, which was as fascinating as it was wonderful.

It felt so good to have someone who understood my own doubts, my weaknesses, and gave me hope that I really did have the strength to achieve what I wanted. That I could be a Luna like anyone else, and that my mate would undoubtedly give anything for me.

"While our mates are busy chatting, maybe we could spend more time together...let's just say the other Lunas aren't very comfortable with my presence," she says, hopefully.

"Of course!" I say, and we hug.

"I'll leave you for now, my mate is waiting for me over there, he tends to get anxious when I'm not by his side. I think you'll bring us many surprises, Luna Mildred," she says, winking at me as she leaves.

Before I know it, I fall asleep and start dreaming. The whispering creatures were no longer like ghosts or disembodied spirits, I could see them clearly now. They had dark black hoods and eyes like two deep hollows.

Their hands were still cadaverous, but I could feel their flesh taking on body with each passing moment, I didn't know how or why.

I did not know what this place was, but without a doubt it was beyond these lands, for it was a shadowy, dark place where the light seemed not to reach.

I saw men approaching with reddish eyes full of hatred, and at the same time, rows and rows of rough men, with shields, and helmets, and I watched as they were given weapons.

"What's going on?" asked one of the creatures.

"We've definitely lost her, there's no way in," they said, and I didn't know who they were talking about.

"Randall..."

"Yes, he must have lost contact with her and we lost an important advantage. I hope they don't notice... " one said, and now I fear they are talking about me.

"Luckily we have a card up our sleeve," another said.

"Yes, but she's stubborn, and we don't know what she might come up with. She hates us and is smart, she might be up to something right now," says the one who seems to be some kind of leader among the whisperers.

"So the Alpha is going to lose the election..."
