Werewolf
Sold by my Alpha, bought by my Mate Chapter 35: Dark Aura
Asher
I was having such a wonderful time with my mate, and this just had to happen.
"Where did they come from?"
"I don't know. I've been monitoring the area and haven't seen anything. I thought the rogues were friends of this pack. This doesn't make sense!" my Beta said as I carried my mate away from all of this.
"Keep an eye on Randall... this all looks very suspicious," I ordered.
It was already dark when I ran back to the pack.
The closer I got, the more I heard the screams and desperation, and I was amazed at what I found: the rogues seemed possessed, something I had never seen before.
They seemed to be commanded by an invisible force that drove them to attack, no matter if they were beaten, maimed, or mortally wounded, they kept going.
"Don't worry, mate, I won't let anything happen to you," I assured her as her small hands gripped my shirt tightly. Having her close to me gave me energy and strength.
"We'll finish these wolves off before they touch a single hair on our mate," Cormac yelled.
"Where are the warriors of this stupid pack?" Duncan shouted as we saw Randall's Beta and a handful of warriors appear... and I sensed an extraordinary aura.
"There!" I yelled as we ran, and there, at the door of the pack house, we saw where this power was coming from.
"What the hell is that?" asked Duncan as I heard a gasp from Millie.
There in the middle, fighting the rogues, killing them and throwing them to the ground like little toys, was Randall.
He hadn't even transformed into a wolf, he was still in his human form, punching and kicking, attacking enemies with his bare hands.
"His aura is... dark?" I said in surprise.
They weren't always visible in auras, but over time I came to know the auras of some wolves. Ours was usually gray because of our pack name.
But his was like a shadow... something unexplainable.
Randall's beta was also fighting with the rogues... but it was like he was invisible to them. The man gave us an evil grin.
"It felt the same as in the forest..." my friend said, and we were suddenly attacked by rogues from all sides.
"Follow me this way, you bastards!" yelled Duncan, taking several of the rogues with him and stalling them so that I could protect them.
"Asher..." Millie said fearfully as the rogues seemed to be obsessed with us. With her... I thought in horror.
One lunged at me, biting my arm as I swatted it away. I had to summon all my strength to keep fighting in human form, because I didn't want to let her go.
I kicked one rogue, I crushed another’s head with a rock. More came, and they were practically on top of me. They attacked my legs as I growled and fell to the ground, protecting my mate with my body. When I got up, I threw several in the air and kept fighting.
"Millie!" I yelled as she lay on the ground... and I realized that the rogues were not after her... but were obsessed with me.
"Mate!" Randall suddenly appeared like some great savior and carried her away.
"Mate!" I yelled and saw her look at me in distress as she reached out her hand as if to hold me.
"Something was making us lose power..." Cormac said, and I knew he was as confused as I was.
"You thought you could finish me off, tried it!" I yelled as I fought them off, but I was bitten, hit all over. I heard the desperate cries of my mate, who must have seen me being attacked.
It was still dark when the rogues finally seemed to flee, knowing they had lost this battle. This hadn't made sense from the start; this pack wasn't even important enough to handle an attack of this magnitude. I was badly wounded... bleeding all over.
"This has been a major unforeseen event, I have never seen rogues behave like this..." said Constantine as we gathered at the pack house to assess the situation. I had seen some really strange rogues in the last war, but this was different.
"We've had attacks like this before, sir... that's why everyone in the pack was hiding. There is a curfew, but of course we didn't want to postpone my future Luna's reception because of that... that's why it wasn't done the way you wanted and the way she surely deserved," Randall said very politely.
The bastard made himself out to be the hero and savior and at the same time avoided exposing my mate to his pack and the scorn he might receive. Damn him.
I nursed my wounds as best I could while Cormac rested. I was bleeding too much, and not even in the last war had I ever been so injured. The only thing that comforted me was that my mate was safe and protected from all this chaos in his room.
"It all seemed to have been pulled out from nowhere..." Duncan said and I growled. It did.
"I understand, Alpha... it's certainly something to look into. It's very important to the king that such attacks could be prevented," Constantine said, genuinely concerned.
"The king could help us..." Randall said.
I could already see that this rat was going to get something out of this.
"How, Alpha?" asked Constantine.
"He could give me jurisdiction over the nearby land and forest. Then we could watch from the hill and prevent any advance," he said.
"Are you fucking kidding me? Do you want more territory? You can't even handle this!" I yelled, and we both roared.
"Gentlemen, please..." Constantine demanded.
"I will speak to the king and see what can be done, Alpha. In the meantime, I will keep watch with you to make sure the situation remains calm," he concluded.
I limped as best I could to my mate's room when I heard grunts and saw that there was a commotion in one of the rooms.
"Oh look... what do we have here?" Duncan said loudly, and I saw that there were two women in what was undoubtedly the room where Randall was staying.
"Who are they?" I asked. If he had been with other women, Millie must have known about it. Constantine approached, and Randall looked nervous.
"Alpha Randall... Can you give us an explanation?" he said angrily.
"They just came to seek shelter... they heard about the attacks and came to the safest place in the house, where I should be," he said firmly, though I wasn't convinced at all.
However, the women looked upset; one was crying, while the other had a robe over her as if she had nothing on underneath.
"Randall is up to something, and I swear on everything I've got that he is with one of these women... maybe even both of them," Duncan said through the mindlink. I grunted.
The girl in the robe didn't look like she was in shock from the attack. I watched out of the corner of my eye as she walked away and realized that she certainly had nothing on underneath; I could almost see her bare ass.
Sooner or later, you're going down, Randall.... I didn't know what you were doing, but I was going to take you down.
