I was alone and remembered the feeling of not knowing where to go; I felt lost.

I ran desperately in the night, smelling the burning scent that filled my nose, with the terrible premonition that I wouldn't see the people I cared about, that all was lost.

I didn't arrive on time and feared that I would stay here forever.

So much effort and I can't do anything? So much sacrifice for what? The enemy was strong and fickle, spreading a fear that could mobilize almost anyone.

I saw Jeremiah wounded, bleeding in the flames, and Ava struggling and crying, all giving their last strength.

Then I saw a bridge collapse; it was decorated with a horse, and it burned to the ground, and pale wolves like the ones in my paintings, attacked. And when that bridge fell, it was as if the heart of the pack was destroyed.

"How could someone who can see the future not have seen this?" a voice said, and then I woke up.

"Mate, mate! Are you okay? It was just a dream, my love," Asher said as he held me. I was sweating and couldn't breathe.

"It felt so real," I said, and he picked me up and put me on his lap as he hugged me lovingly.

"Shh, shh, calm down...you're here, safe with me. I won't let anything happen to you..."

"It's just that... the war, what I saw..."

"You said yourself: What you see are just possibilities, and we're all working here so that we don't have to reach that point." he said, trying to give me hope.

We all hope for that. I saw the king talking with what seemed to be candidates to be his mate, and he treated them with coldness. It was obvious that he detested the idea.

The ladies seemed excited at first when they spoke to him, but two minutes with him was enough to lower their expectations.

Not surprising. That was the first impression I had when I saw him.

"I'm sorry, I really tried, but Alpha Julius really seems eager to talk to you," Jeremiah appeared, and I knew that it mainly meant me.

"I regret the insistence, but we rarely have such interesting visitors, and I must say that you, Luna... are too interesting," Alpha Julius said.

Asher tried to control himself; I think if he had the chance, he would take me and carry me like we used to do in private.

"I'm just a simple Luna, Alpha, who was lucky enough to find a wonderful Alpha,"

"We heard that you had to choose between two wolves..." the man said.

"I was rejected and then accepted by my mate. The goddess' plans are strange, but always correct," I explained, and Alpha Julius seemed pleased.

"She speaks like a Luna, human or not," the man said. "I know you want my alliance, especially for access to the bridge," the said directly.

"We also want to protect your pack, I speak from personal experience. Randall is not well, he hasn't been for a while," I said, and he nodded.

Asher smiled proudly at how I handled this. I didn't like having this kind of conversation, but I knew what was at stake.

"For many years, the Shadow Claw Bridge has been disputed. There has even been talk of surrendering it to His Majesty," the man said, and I saw him caressing a wooden statue of a horse on his desk, and I remembered my dream.

"I assure you, Alpha, there are no such ambitions at this moment. The king is not seeking possessions or territory, only alliances and peace," Asher replied.

"Was that piece of wood part of the bridge? It's the original... must have replaced it" I said, and the man was so surprised that there was silence for a moment.

"Have you seen my pack? Have you seen the bridge?"

"No, Alpha, we came in through the main entrance," Jeremiah said, but the man was focused, looking at me.

"Then how do you know? What is your power, Luna? Tell me..." he asked me.

"Sometimes I have dreams. They're not always accurate..."

"What did you see?" the man asked, approaching me, practically leaning in to see and hear me.

"I saw fire. It's what I've been seeing in my nightmares lately, a fire that spreads and takes everything. I saw the bridge burning and falling and so did the pack because that bridge was the heart of this pack. This is what's coming, Alpha, destruction, but it can be avoided if we all unite," I said, and he was astonished

Again there was silence, and I saw the uncertainty on Jeremiah's face, the Alpha might not believe me. But Alpha Julius was agitated, he stood up excitedly.

"These are the words of my grandmother: The bridge is the heart of this pack. I am very devoted to the Moon, Luna, and what I have heard now leaves me in no doubt that it is an expression of the greatness of the Goddess who has sent us help in these difficult times" he said, and I could feel everyone sigh of relief.

"Will we have your support then, Alpha?"

"Yes... whatever you need. If what the miss says is true, then we are in serious danger."

This was... weird.

"Then it seems that the vampire was right," the king said when he heard the news.

"Unfortunately, yes. I don't like it at all. I don't want anyone following my Luna or asking her questions, let alone making it look like she's some kind of circus act," Asher said, and I leaned over to give him a kiss on the cheek.

"Well done, miss... well done indeed. Alpha Julius will bring the alliances we need with the other Alphas. There are still other packs to visit, but I think we're off to a good start," the king said.

"That was surprising... astounding," my mate said, giving me a hug.

Dinner went on, and it seemed more like a celebration, since Alpha Julius was willing to provide the best food and even music. My mate and I were dancing when I felt him put his hands on my waist and I sighed.

"My mate, The mighty Luna," he said, leaning down to kiss me on his mark, and I sighed.

Suddenly I had the unpleasant feeling that someone was watching us; I turned to look... but I didn't see anything at all, everything was so strange and suspicious.

"Is something wrong, my mate?"

"I feel like someone is watching us..."

"Everyone is busy with their own affairs, and no one pays attention to an Alpha being too affectionate with his very attractive mate," he said, and now he kissed me, and I surrendered to that kiss when I felt someone watching me again.

"Again?" he asked.

"Yes... it's really weird."

"Then I think it's our signal to go to our rooms. You did what they wanted. Now it's time for us to do what we want," he said with a small smile, and I laughed.
