Werewolf
Sold by my Alpha, bought by my Mate Chapter 73: Officially
Mildred
"Asher... Aren't you going to say anything to your mate?" asked Angelica, who had been busy dressing me while my mate stood in front of me, watching me as if he saw a ghost.
"He's gone mute! Well, at least he's not growling," said Duncan, who walked by and laughed as he looked at his Alpha, who had become frozen in time.
I was already blushing at the way everyone seemed to agree on how good I looked, but in comparison, my mate was looking at me with a confused expression, frankly shocked.
"You look exquisite...as if you were the moon itself shining," he said in a soft voice.
This was supposed to be some sort of ball and dinner, sort of banquet in my honor. The River Ash pack had put all this together for me, and I wasn't officially their Luna yet, and I didn't know if I would be.
For me... it all seemed so wonderful, that I had really found a mate, a good one who loved me, an extraordinary man who was speechless just to look at me.
There were so many things in his eyes, something I had never seen in another person when he looked at me.
Too good to be true, my life has never been that easy.
"Well, you'd better, because we've spent a lot of time together and our Luna has been very patient," Angelica said, looking at me lovingly.
The dress had supposedly been brought from a special place, as had the jewelry and accessories, as she insisted that I be presented almost like a queen. Although I thought those were Asher's specifications.
"Well, I'll leave you two alone...and Alpha...don't be late," she said with a wink.
"Where are we going?" I asked, thinking we had to go to the party, but he seemed to have other plans.
He approached me very carefully and put his hands on my waist. The dress was ivory with small silver details.
He gazed in awe at the small corset that fit my figure and stroked the ends of my hair, which had been slightly curly and now looked shorter. Then he caressed my neck and ran his fingers over the area where I knew his wolf was telling him to mark me.
"You're a dream, Millie, and as always, I want to have you all to myself, just for a moment," he said, taking my hand.
Again we got on his horse and I knew exactly where we were going. He carried me all the way and took off my shoes as he set me down on the grass.
The wolf-shaped rock seemed more imposing, as if it wanted to reach for the sky, its gaze, wherever it went, always seemed to be focused on the moon.
Now, in the dark of the night, everything looked more magical. I didn't have a wolf and his instincts, but I didn't need one to know that this was a special place.
"This was where all my ancestors came to tell the moon that they had found their mate, it was also the place where the chosen mates were asked to be our Lunas. And long ago it was also the place where the true mates were marked," he said, looking at me intensely.
"Our situation was different, I prayed to the moon that you chose me, but I still wanted to make this place special between us," he said, and I noticed that he was very excited and nervous at the same time. I was already approaching him, caressing his face, standing on my toes and extending my hand.
"This place was so special, I had been dreaming about it, this place had been calling me," I told him, and he suddenly smiled, got down on his knees and looked up at me with unbridled passion.
"Millie... my mate. I know everyone has said it, and maybe it sounds exaggerated, but I really have been looking for you for years, and my wolf never gave up hope of finding you. I brought you here with the simple intention of officially asking you to choose me," he said and I smiled.
"Asher..." I said, melting under his sweetness.
"I know that's what humans do, they asked another one to be with them for the rest of their lives," he said. His words reached corners of my soul that I didn't even know existed.
I wanted to tell him that we just had to wait for the eclipse that was coming very soon, but that for some time now there had been no one for me but him. That when I wasn't with him, my mind, my heart, and my body thought only of him, and that in some way that I still couldn't explain, I was always close to him.
"You don't have to say anything now, this arrangement, strange as it is, worked one way, and we had to wait for the eclipse. I just wanted you to know that I would accept your decision, that I had no regrets, because I gave everything and if you chose me as your mate. This pack would not only be your home, but you would have an Alpha who was completely devoted to you. There had never been an Alpha as devoted to his mate as I was. There had never been a woman in the world to whom a man belonged more than you," he whispered.
"Me and my wolf would not only be yours, but we would do anything to make you happy." I could feel the tears coming, and I couldn't control them, nor did I want to. I hated crying, I had grown tired of it long ago, but these were different tears and I welcomed them.
"We knew that your life had been full of difficulties, but these troubles I intended to end. You came into this world to be happy, my sweet mate," he said.
"Thank you. Thank you for everything, you had given me hope that I thought was dead, and I must say that since you had been in my life, my happy days seemed to have no end," I confessed to him, and he was ecstatic.
He got up and carried me back to the horse, and we just stood there for a while, him hugging my back and kissing my neck as we watched the moon rise higher and higher, dominating the night.
When we got back to the party, it all started, everyone was extremely happy and showered us with compliments. Asher gave a simple speech, saying that a new stage of the pack was coming and praying that the goddess would favor him.
We had dinner, danced together, I was laughing and forgetting all my troubles... when suddenly I felt a pain in my chest, as if it was being squeezed hard and wanted to be pulled out of my chest, and I almost fell to the ground.
"Millie! Millie!"
