Werewolf
Sold by my Alpha, bought by my Mate Chapter 156: Stone and dust
Asher
"Damn demon!" I shouted desperately as he had me trapped into his chains, slamming me through the walls and floor.
I tried to hold on to whatever I could see as I felt the chain tear into my skin. The wound Randall had inflicted on me still hadn't healed, and now I had to try to free myself from this demon's grip.
I don't know how, but he seemed to be getting bigger by the moment; it was impossible.
When I hit one of the walls, I grabbed the chains with my hands as hard as I could, and the demon stumbled.
He had several chains coming out of its hands and had attacked several warriors, the metals coming out of its hands like some kind of tentacles.
It was a horrible and terrifying sight. All I knew was that he had to be stopped, no matter what. My mate was close, and I had to protect her, but now this demon had me under his control. Constantine was dead, and I felt like our world was slowly crumbling.
"Filthy Alpha! You should have been defeated long ago. Did you really think you could stand against us? You killed my brothers; I still don't know how, but as long as one of us lives, we will fight," the demon said.
Apparently, the hybrids, vampires, rogues, and wolves on his side were gaining strength, feeling supported and on the winning side.
They roared, screamed, and charged the king's warriors. I saw Alphas, Betas, and others under the control of this terrible demon.
I felt them pull on my leg again as I tried to free myself from the chains, when suddenly I was thrown, rolled across the floor, and slammed into a wall. My head hit hard and I felt dizzy.
Suddenly I saw one of the chains coming towards me, grabbing my neck, wrapping around it and choking me. I struggled desperately; this day I had been beaten, shot, bitten, and now this.
My wolf felt injured, and I couldn't transform; the chain would suffocate me completely.
"Asher!" Jeremiah yelled, throwing himself between us and breaking the chain with his hands.
I'm pretty sure they were made of silver, because my friend screamed in pain as he touched the metal, his hands turning red, raw like exposed flesh. One chain hit his legs and he cried out.
"Oh, how sweet... helping each other! You will both die!" the demon shouted as the struggle continued.
"Jeremiah!" I said as I approached and saw him kneeling on the ground.
I had no idea what had happened to this demon. Of the ones we knew and had reports on, two were dead, one was trapped here in the dungeons, and another whose whereabouts were unknown. And this giant. He was unusually strong for not being with his brothers.
He kept slamming the chains against the walls, taking down other warriors, strangling them and killing them instantly while we all fought.
I couldn't watch our men and women being defeated like that anymore, so I stood up and positioned myself in front of my friend, knowing that he would soon recover.
"Demon! You want us, don't you?"
It seemed to focus on me, and that's what I wanted. "We must protect this door," Jeremiah had told me, and if my mate was there, I would give my life to keep them from reaching her.
"The Alpha who thinks he's invincible. Are you really that stupid?" he said, swinging his chains, and one hit my shoulder, forcing me to grab hold.
"We won't let you pass and you know it," I said, and he seemed to smile with that horrible face.
He and I both knew he wanted my mate, the king, and his other brother who was still alive. He knew we had decimated them.
"What are you going to say? That I will reach my goal over your dead body? That's easy to arrange, Alpha," he said, and suddenly I saw him attack not my warriors but his own followers, especially the Betas and Alphas who were still standing. The men screamed and died with expressions of surprise.
"What the hell?" attacking his own people, that didn't make sense.
"Now do you understand? Now do you see?" he said, and I felt the energy shift completely. The demon seemed to grow, so much so that within moments it was twice my size.
"He's taking the energy from its sworn allies, the alphas who drank vampire blood," Jeremiah said, staggering and holding on to me.
"No... that can't be," I whispered.
"That's how he's so strong, and by not having to share his energy with his other brothers, he's amassing enormous power," Jeremiah said. Demons feed on the power of the living - humans, wolves... like Ava with the king, in a way, they were different. But this was terrible.
"Now... how are you going to defeat me?" the demon said, and Jeremiah put the arrow in my hand, hiding it behind my back, so the demon wouldn't see it.
"I need to get close to him," I whispered to my friend.
Where the hell were Nate and Shum? The castle was still crawling with enemies, my mate hiding... this was a nightmare.
"I'll distract him," Jeremiah said, running to one side while the demon threw chains at him, and I ran to the other, trying to get as close as possible to stab him with the arrowhead stone. Jeremiah and I weren't in the best shape, but we would do our best.
"If you really want to die, I'm happy to oblige!" the demon shouted, skillfully moving the chains from side to side, attacking his own allies and us. I couldn't help but think that this was our last move, maybe our last stand.
"Now!" Jeremiah shouted, holding several chains in his burning hands, and I jumped at the demon, aiming the arrow at its chest.
For a second I thought it would hit its mark, but I was surprised by a chain that pushed me into another wall, taking several warriors with it, and I heard the arrow clatter to the ground, broken. I got up as best I could and looked at the demon.
"No... that can't be," I said worriedly.
"You were going to attack me with this... Alpha? It seems important... but it's just a stupid stone," he said, moving it with his heavy boot.
I watched in horror as, without taking his eyes off me, he placed his foot on it and crushed it. He ground the toe of his boot into it, and when he lifted it up... there was nothing but dust.
"No!" my friend and the other warriors shouted, and I felt all was lost. But all of a sudden we heard a voice, and I saw someone who might help us, or complicate things; I wasn't sure yet.
"Finally I found you...you were well hidden underground, worm…" said Ava. She seemed energetic, dressed in black leather, and gave me a half-smile.
