Werewolf
Sold by my Alpha, bought by my Mate Chapter 21: One Step Backward
Asher
"That's not right," my wolf said.
"She can't help it, and besides, it was a request from the king," I told him. Cormac had been unbearable since Randall showed up.
"Well, not even the king should be above our mate," he replied, annoyed, and he was partly right.
Of course, I didn't like the idea that she was back with him, not only out of jealousy, which I obviously had, but because she was in danger in the hands of that bastard. But Jeremiah was right, without a proper understanding of our enemies' moves, the future would be much worse, not only for my precious mate, but for everyone.
"Calm down. We'll be with her today, and she's agreed to meet you," I told him, and he finally stayed at peace.
Millie had stayed with Ava, who seemed particularly tense, and I wanted to see her before breakfast.
"Mate!" I said, cornering her in a small hallway.
She smiled when she saw me, and my mate made an effort to stand on tiptoe, and I understood what she wanted, which made me feel like the happiest wolf in the world.
I kissed her ecstatically, feeling her soft lips against mine and went even further, savoring her mouth and every corner with my tongue. For a while we were just one. I wanted to ask her if she'd had this with him or what they'd done when she told me.
"He just tried to apologize, although I don't believe him..." she said with a pleading look.
"You don't have to tell me anything, mate, or justify yourself, I understand..." I answered.
"No, I want you to know that I don't want him here, but he also tells me about my parents," she said, giving me some details.
At breakfast, Randall didn't take his eyes off her, and Ava didn't take her eyes off him either; at least the demoness was alert.
In the afternoon, I took Millie to a small place in the woods, and she seemed nervous.
"I have another little charm for your bracelet..." I saw that she had in her other hand some diamond bracelets that looked much more expensive and elegant than the one I gave her. I guessed he gave them to her, and suddenly I felt stupid.
"This is my favorite," she said, smiling, pointing to the one I gave her... and I put the little charm in her hand.
"This is Cormac," I told her, giving her the small wolf-shaped charm, and she put it on her bracelet, delighted.
"Remember, he'll never hurt you, even if he's a little too excited to meet you. You have to understand, Millie, that he and I have been waiting for you for years," I told her, and she seemed worried.
I went behind a tree and took off my clothes, letting my bitter wolf take control. When she saw him, her expression was one of surprise, but also of admiration.
"You really are a very big wolf, and so beautiful!" she said excitedly, and my wolf looked like an overexcited little puppy.
"Approach her slowly, don't scare her," I told him, and he walked slowly.
"Mate looks even more beautiful with our eyes!" he said and she reached out to stroke his fur and it felt fabulous.
"Your color is fantastic... like ash, and your eyes are Asher's," she said happily, and when he started licking her face and getting excited, I heard her laugh, it was music to my ears!
"You are beautiful," Millie said happily as they played. I felt touched... my poor wolf was about to go crazy not to have her.
And everything was happiness and perfection when we heard a noise and I turned around, and it's...
"Randall. What are you doing here?"
"I just wanted to make sure she was okay," he said, and my wolf roared, approaching him menacingly as I saw him muttering something strange... and Cormac completely freaked out and lunged at him, attacking.
"Cormac! Calm down! Let him go!" I said, but I felt like I had completely lost connection with him; it was like he was someone independent and I couldn't really control him.
Millie started to scream in despair and Randall hit my wolf in the face, and he ran off to the castle.
"Cormac! Wait!" she screamed.
Suddenly, Jeremiah and my beta appeared, trying to calm me down and separate me from Randall.
"Asher! Cormac! Enough!" they said, and my wolf did the unthinkable: he attacked them.
I felt the vampire struggling with me, trying to defend himself, and I bit Duncan's leg, dragging him all over the garden.
"Cormac, please, let him go!" I heard my mate scream, but my wolf didn't even react.
"Big Alpha! Cormac! It's me, Duncan!" my poor friend cried as I tore at his clothes and skin, leaving him screaming in pain.
Ava also appeared and pulled me away from Duncan as I pushed her. Randall also hit me, and I bit him; it seemed no one could stop us.
"Don't hurt him!" I heard Millie crying, when suddenly I felt a big blow to the head, and it was like I came back to consciousness.
"What happened?" my frightened wolf asked, and we saw the mess, Duncan bleeding, the garden destroyed.
"Buddy! Have you lost control? Give me the power back," I told him, but it was as if he couldn't give it to me.
"Let Asher take control," Jeremiah said as if giving us an order, trying to enchant us, but even that didn't bring me back. I saw his torn clothes and his bleeding hand. I couldn't believe this was happening.
"Lock him up!" some guards said, and I watched with horror as they put us in a cage, and even worse, my mate, crying in Randall's arms, who also seemed to be wounded.
"Millie..." I tried to approach her, but Cormac cried out. She looked at us with terror in her eyes.
I felt a pang of pain in my heart. How could this happen? My wolf was completely inconsolable for ruining our chance with our mate the first time he met her. We knew she was afraid of him, and now the situation had gotten worse.
We spent the night locked in a cage, howling and crying out, desperate for her to be with us. All the good times we had shared together... they might be forgotten now.
