Werewolf
Sold by my Alpha, bought by my Mate Chapter 160: Under the ruins
Asher
The fight with the demon had been tough, and I swore that for a moment, Ava really did turn against us. I knew she was on our side, but I didn't know how far she would go to maintain her facade.
And out of nowhere, the King appeared and really took charge of the whole situation. I thought the goal was to protect him and my Millie, but from the moment he emerged and shattered the door with his incomparable aura and enormous strength, I thought the war was over.
It seemed he had gained the power of Hell itself, and I knew immediately what had happened: my mate had gone to Hell, used her powers for something I was so against, and although a wolf is always afraid for his mate, it was obvious it had worked.
I tried to move from side to side, to see her. I had to make sure she was all right, that whatever she'd had to do to achieve this result hadn't harmed her.
However, the light emanating from the king with those whips that seemed to be made of fire didn't let me see anything else, and we all maintained our attack positions. Even though the solution had arrived, there were still enemies around us and the demon had not fallen.
But as we heard the names of the demons, I really hope we were close to the end.
"They did it...they really did it," Ava said, holding an injured arm. Jeremiah seemed to be getting better, and several of His Majesty's warriors were still standing.
But of course the demon would not leave in peace. Ava had said that they had been banished from Hell, so they really had nowhere to go. They were facing extinction, disappearing from this and the other worlds with no way back.
"Look out! Protect yourselves!" the warriors shouted as the chains protruding from the demon's hand began to grab at the walls, tearing them down. Large stones began to fall from the ceiling.
"Millie! Millie!" I cried desperately, hoping to see my mate.
I saw her there, near the entrance to the dungeon cells. Bruno was with her, as was Jessica. Ava was shouting to the king, and I feared everything was going to fall.
As I tried to run to my mate, a great curtain of dust and stones came between us. The wolves would survive, I was sure, but she was still human.
"Hold on, everyone!" the king suddenly shouted, and now that the demon seemed defeated, Maximus raised his hands to the ceiling, as if using his aura and these new powers to somehow stop the impending collapse.
The light shone as large chunks of the walls and ceiling continued to fall. The castle was large, and if it collapsed completely, we would be completely buried.
"Come on, hold on!" the king shouted, as if talking to his own castle.
The structure continued to give way, but he seemed to be slowing it down. Some warriors escaped through the opening and climbed the walls, while the rest fled.
"You must get out of here! Now!" the king shouted, no doubt exposing himself to danger.
But when the dust settled, I saw that a wall had completely blocked the area where my mate had been. That section had been isolated.
"Millie!" I shouted.
"Master!" shouted Ava, who ran to help the king.
"No! It can't be!" I screamed, and before I knew it, the king screamed, and everything collapsed.
I woke up coughing amidst the rubble and dirt. I lifted the stones and walls that were on top of me as I struggled desperately to get out.
"Mate!" I shouted, gasping, and it seemed like the world was waking up after a great earthquake.
Everyone was struggling. I saw warriors completely covered in dust, looking like ghosts, while a group was already dedicated to finding where the king was.
"Keep going, he must be here," the impatient warriors yell.
Up there, a large arch led to the outside. The dungeons were now exposed, and warriors came from outside, trying to rescue those still inside. The place was in chaos, and I feared that the enemies could easily enter.
"Asher...I finally find you" I heard a voice.
It was Jeremiah, who seemed to have emerged from the rubble some time ago and joined the search. I feared I had not risen sooner; I had lost precious time.
"Millie..." I said, and my fear was so great that I honestly didn't know what to do or where to begin. It all felt like a nightmare. She had been there, and I hadn't been able to protect her.
"I can't find her, Alpha..." he told me, and my heart felt like it was going to stop.
"She was near the door... with Duncan," I said.
"We didn't find him either, but we found Jessica. She is injured, has a serious head wound, and they are treating her. Maximus seems to have used all his strength to hold up the ceiling, and no doubt it would have been much worse without him," my friend said.
With the help of other warriors, we lifted the rubble piece by piece as I prayed every prayer I knew for her to be okay. My love couldn't have been through so much to end up like this. Our story had been as beautiful as it had been terrible, but it couldn't end with her gone.
"Ava?" I asked as I picked up the debris with my hands.
"The last thing I saw was her running to His Majesty, and they were buried. No doubt they took the worst of it," my friend said.
"She's not here! She's not here!" I shouted in despair.
"Here's the door frame!" Jeremiah said, and it seemed like a tunnel had been created.
Beyond it, I saw the bars of the cells completely destroyed and the body of what appeared to be the demon, now definitely finished.
"I don't understand how Jessica is here, but neither my mate nor my Beta are," I said, holding my head. I saw that I had wounds on my body, but nothing else mattered to me.
"We need to keep looking," my friend told me when we heard a warrior mention something.
"It looks like someone was dragged here, there's a trail..." the man said, and as we got closer, it was true.
"It leads to the other exit, the one that connects to the corridors of the castle," I told my friend, hoping that my beta had been able to get my mate out at the right moment.
I had left him the duty to protect her, and I knew he would do everything he could. Duncan had never let me down.
"There's blood, Alpha, and it's Duncan's..." my friend said, sniffing the ground as we ran between soldiers moving from place to place.
Some came to help, and I heard footsteps approaching the castle, battalions, but they continued on to the other side. I couldn't concentrate on anything but finding them.
"By the goddess, no..." Jeremiah said as we saw someone in a corner covered in blood.
"No, it can't be!" I said, and we both fell to the ground.
We confirmed that it was, without a doubt, my Beta. He had a wound in his chest that looked like it had been made with a knife. It was awful and he looked pale. Goddess, help me.
"Asher..." my friend said, coughing up blood, and I felt like my soul was sinking to the ground.
