"Are you sure everything will be all right? "I ask Jeremiah.

"Of course we are, we won't let anything happen to you," he tells me very confidently.

I had a compelling need to be with Asher. But if we want to fool our enemies, we had to be separated. Randall knew that wherever Asher was, I would be.

The plan was this: all my things were left in Asher's room. Everything there smelled of me.

Jeremiah said that the place where I was least likely to be found was the best choice, and here I was, in the dungeons of the castle, in a windowless office, completely enclosed.

He had insisted that the structure of the castle and the depth of the place would prevent the use of any enchantments.

And all I had to do was wait, and I started to paint.
