Werewolf
Sold by my Alpha, bought by my Mate Chapter 153: At all cost
Jeremiah
"Big Alpha! What are you doing?" I ask Asher when I see what seems to want to go straight into the fire.
We had been through several battles; His Majesty's warriors already controlled several gates, and we were on our way to the west wing, when we suddenly saw the great fire, and I became even more concerned. Asher had fought Randall, and the man had escaped.
"I don't know if he'll survive the fire," I said. Maybe we could get rid of him easily.
"Bad seeds never die," said the distraught Alpha.
The battle had been cruel and fierce. Many warriors had died, and I also saw charred, deformed bodies of Alphas on the ground.
"The Alpha enemies... they took vampire blood," he told me as I helped him cover the wound on his leg that was already healing.
"We have to keep going; we have to get into the castle and stop them from getting to Mildred. We killed one demon, one is trapped, three are left and we have this," I show him the arrow with the stone that killed the other demon.
"We wounded two," Asher says, and when I look, one had escaped, and the other I had quickly pierced with the arrow. We heard screeches in the distance; every time we kill one, the others feel it. They weaken, we know it.
"Good, that means there are two left out there."
"The vampire is right, Great Alpha," said Shum, who didn't look very good either. But thanks to him, I was able to convince Asher to go to the west wing.
"We have to protect the castle and control the attacks," said Alpha Nathaniel, making his way with his warriors. Without his arrival, I wouldn't have been able to accomplish anything.
"And find the rest of the demons and finish them off, it was the only way," and now we had a tool.
After these victories, our spirits had improved a lot, and even though I knew this wasn't over, I was convinced that we could handle them. Without the demons, there would only be a handful of lost alphas left, and that was a better scenario.
"By the goddess... the castle is infected," Asher said as we saw the corpses of warriors and hybrids everywhere.
Their dead bodies left a dark and unpleasant blood pool that now stained the entire floor of the castle. And from the moment we set foot in the west wing, we began to fight.
"My Millie!" Asher cried desperately as he advanced, looking for her.
Asher fought even with his wounded leg, Shum joined the rest of the warriors, while Nathaniel cleared the way for us with his powerful aura.
"Mr. Jeremiah!" I heard His Majesty's warriors greet and welcome me with relief. The warriors had been battered, the enemy's attack strategically planned from several points.
"Have you seen a demon in here?"
"No, sir, just hybrids" replied one warrior.
"Jeremiah..." Nathaniel said to me as we watched a full-scale battle unfold in the Great Hall.
I saw wolves tearing apart everywhere, vampires killing and attacking the castle's warriors and workers; they really had taken it upon themselves to destroy everything they saw.
"We'll take care of it," Nathaniel said, and Shum joined him with his warriors as they tried to restore order.
"Where is His Majesty? Where is my mate?" asked Asher.
"Protocol dictates that they go to the safest places."
"The king's chambers," he said, and we went there.
In the corridors we passed, we had to slowly eliminate the hybrids that threw themselves at us. I shot and finished them off with my fangs, while other warriors set them on fire.
"Let's go! Upstairs!" said Asher as we climbed the stairs, and he threw our enemies down, who fell noisily. But when we reached this floor, there was only death; it was obvious that our enemies had realized that there was nothing here.
"Then where would they be?" shouted Asher, roaring desperately.
In such a battle, it was very difficult to follow the scent, and I followed the tracks left by the battle. There was the blood of His Majesty's warriors.
"They moved, they crossed here," I told him, pointing down the hall. Asher was so shocked and worried that he couldn't think straight.
And when we got to the place where the trail ended, His Majesty's offices... we found them empty, too.
"Oh no..." I said, seeing the door that had opened in the secret corridors.
"What happened?"
"They're in the dungeons..." I said.
"What the hell are they doing in the dungeons?" he asked me, shouting.
Asher didn't let me answer when he quickly descended while I ran after him, and downstairs we found another battle.
Both the King and the Luna should be inside, locked in the dungeon cells, as His Majesty's warriors fought with everything they had outside.
Cormac had turned into a beast, throwing himself at the enemy without regard, and when I saw Constantine wounded, another fear ran through my body.
"Jeremiah..." he said to me, spitting blood.
"I'm here, friend... stay with me, I'll protect you," I told him, preventing anyone from approaching him.
"His Majesty is inside, with the Luna... they can't be disturbed or interrupted, no matter what happens... don't let anyone cross that door, protect at all cost" he said anxious.
"I'll do whatever is necessary, I promise" I say, and I see the wound in his chest; it's horrible.
"They need more time... just a little more," he says, babbling. And I think I know what's going on. Mildred and Alaric are looking for a way to defeat the demons, they are using their powers.
"Constantine... stay with me, friend... Constantine!" I call, but the wolf remains still, looking towards the door where the king must be, gasping out his last breath.
"It can't be..." I said, my dead heart pounding. I ran my hand over his eyes and closed them.
I had known this man for decades, he was faithful and firm, and even though I knew there would be many casualties in this war, my heart couldn't help but feel them.
"No... no," Asher said when he saw the advisor's body in my arms.
"He died protecting his king and your Luna... we have to guard the door," I said as I saw more hybrids appearing, they were concentrated here. Damn it!
"But what the hell is going on in there?" Asher asked.
"Listen to me, Asher... we have to prevent anyone from getting in there," I told him, knowing that if he found out what his mate was doing... he would go crazy.
When I felt the atmosphere in the dungeons change completely and saw him standing at the other end.
The demon was throwing chains like whips that came out of his hands, pulling our warriors and he took Asher's wounded leg and dragged him across the floor.
"Did you think you could finish them all? Now I'll show you what I can do" he screams.
