Werewolf
Sold by my Alpha, bought by my Mate Chapter 163: An extraordinary Luna
Ava
The last thing I remembered was running to where my master was. Duncan had appeared at the door, and I forced myself not to run to him, to hug him, to beg his forgiveness. I knew he was taking care of Little Thing, he had his duty and I had mine.
"Master!" I cried, and when he saw me at his side, I knew his first instinct was to push me away, but when I stood by his side and the light spread out like a great field supporting part of the ceiling, he knew I had come to help him.
But even so, we couldn't support the whole castle, and much of it had collapsed.
I thought I was in hell, that I had returned, that no matter how much I had tried to scape. My body felt weak and broken, and I was surprised to feel warm hands holding me and carrying me gently.
"I am so sorry, my dear. I am so sorry I doubted you," said a voice so beautiful it made my dark and black heart vibrate.
It was the light at the end of the tunnel, it was the compass pointing me north, it was the beginning of all beautiful things for me.
And when I opened my eyes, there was the wolf who had saved my life so long ago. He had done it again, caressing my face, brushing the dust from my face and hair.
"Ava... Avalon..." he said softly, and I wanted to cry with happiness. I had cried from sadness before, but never from this emotion.
"Master... I'm so sorry... I should have told you..."
"Shh... shh... don't say anything, I need you to recover. I need you so much, Ava, I've always needed you," he said, wiping away my tears. I had rarely seen him smile, but never like that.
"Your Majesty, please, you need to take care of yourself," Alpha Nathaniel appeared, who seemed to have secured the castle and the entire area.
Alpha Shum already had warriors repairing the building to prevent further collapses.
"She too... she saved us," my master said, and we were taken to another area.
Being close to him helped me and I felt better. We were both lying on stretchers while a lot of people were moving around. He kept holding my hand and I swear I have never been so happy in my life.
"Master... Constantine..." I said, and he closed his eyes and a tear escaped.
"I know... I asked him to guard the door, and he did until the end."
"What's happening outside?" I asked, getting up now, my body aching, but now I felt completely energized. If I had broken bones and wounds, they seemed to have healed completely.
"Go, dear... I'm fine," he said, though he looked quite weak.
I didn't want to leave him alone, but I just wanted to find that idiot Randall to get my amulet back. I knew it would help my master.
On the way, I asked about Duncan, but no one seemed to have seen him. I heard Jeremiah and Asher's voices and assumed he would be there, but when I reached the exit, I found a bizarre situation.
Randall was defeated and part of his body was burned. The vampire, Little Thing and the soldiers looked fine... but Asher... he had turned into a creature that only existed in legends.
His wolf had taken over, and he was stuck in the middle of the transition; man and wolf were now one in the body as well. Double the power, double the size, double the lack of control, it was incredible. Everyone was stunned as they watched the beast.
"He is the most powerful wolf..."
"He's magnificent," they whispered.
Asher stood over Randall and punched him, disfiguring him even more as he said his last words.
"I will take all that is yours, this is your end, after so much evil and selfishness. You are nothing, and no one will ever mention your name again" the Alpha said with a strong and powerful voice that made me shiver.
But when it looked like Randall was going to die, Little Thing approached cautiously and put a small hand on the beast's shoulder.
"Mate..." he said, looking at her in disbelief.
"I have a promise to keep..." she said, kneeling down in front of Randall as the Alpha struggled. Asher stayed close to her, protecting her.
"Here I am... Balo," she said, placing her hands on his broken chest, and suddenly the Alpha turned into a wolf, but he was not injured or burned. It was a small and very weak wolf. It was amazing and inexplicable to me.
"Thank you, Balo... you kept your promise," she said, placing her hands on the animal's fur, which seemed to be suffering and whimpering in pain, as if he was seeing terrible things because of her touch.
"I know everything he did, I know you both suffered, I also know that the Red Moon pack was not the best, that the Alpha father was terrible, and they made decisions that led them to this," she said, as if commenting on everything the wolf told her. He looked defenseless and shivered.
"I know you hurt many people, many women, my friends. You also killed warriors and many good people. You conspired with demons, with enemies, and you hurt me, deeply. There is no forgiveness for that, I'm so sorry," she said, and the wolf howled.
I remembered all the scenes with Randall; there wasn't a single good one. Maybe he was a desperate man, full of fear and hatred, with a grudge that blinded him. He should have accepted the rejection and been happy with it, but he always wanted more, always believed he deserved more.
"The world needs good Alphas, who respect their mates, who support everybody. I will take care of our people. But I'm tired of suffering, I've given too much. I just want to be happy," she said as we all watched and listened in silence. Only the little wolf cried and howled in despair.
"I will keep my promise... Balo. And now it's your turn to take care of everyone," she said, and suddenly the wolf howled and screamed in despair and seemed to disappear, leaving just a flowing dust.
"What happened? Where did he go?" asked the surrounding warriors.
"Mate, where is he?" Asher asked, slowly returning to his human form. Like the danger is gone, and the man is back.
"Where he can't do any harm," she replied with much wisdom.
I could see a little further, and it seemed Mildred could too, for she kept looking. The wolf was there, in spirit.
His suffering didn't seem to be over, but he bowed to her, gave a little howl, and with his head down, walked into the forest, then ran, still howling, and disappeared into the forest.
I wondered if Randall had seen this, his future, if my brothers had seen his destruction and Randall wandering through the woods without a body, forever.
"Finally... there will be peace for everyone," Mildred said, holding something in her hands.
"She really is an extraordinary Luna," Jeremiah said.
Asher hugged her and the warriors went back to their work. The world changed, Mildred did it, I still don't know how.
"Ava... welcome back," Mildred said when she saw me and ran to hug me.
"Little Thing... I mean Luna," I said, and she smiled and placed something in my hand.
"I think this belongs to you" I felt the satisfying weight and warmth of my talisman... back in my hands... finally.
