"Beta, calm down, calm down, breathe. We will take care of you," I say, trying to stay calm, but in reality my wolf is on edge. We can't find my mate and my Beta is in this situation? It couldn't be worse.

"Luna... he took her... I tried to stop him, but he attacked me. I couldn't stop it, I'm sorry," Duncan says, looking completely distraught, holding his wound, his hands covered in blood.

I understand he means Millie, but who took her? It's almost certain that the demons are already defeated.

"Over there..." he says, pointing and babbling.

"Duncan!" He seems to pass out as Jeremiah holds his face and gives him some of his blood.

"Take it, Beta... stay alive, please, we need you," he says, and I run in the direction he indicates.

I can smell her in this sea of blood and death. I can feel her so close that I can almost imagine her, almost see her. And when I'm at one of the castle's exits, I find someone.

"I was wondering when you were going to meet me... it took you long enough to wake up, lazy Alpha," a familiar voice says. But the man in front of me is barely recognizable.

"Randall?" I ask in astonishment.

Part of his body is burned beyond recovery, his hair is scorched, and half of his face is disfigured, as if melted by the fire he fled.

This was certainly no ordinary fire; something tells me it's hellfire, and my enemy is paying a heavy price. But my senses awaken again as I see him step aside and leave my mate tied up.

She is crying, injured, and has a gag in her mouth.

"Mate!" I scream in fear, and he smiles with what is left of his mouth.

"I can't watch this anymore. I have to finish this man!" Cormac screams in my head.

"This is everything I've dreamed of for a long time, to finally have you and kill you. Once you cease to exist in this world, she will finally be mine. She and I will be together as it should have always been," he says as if he were completely insane. I run towards her, but he holds a knife to her throat.

"Hellfire steel, can you believe it? I thought my allies were invincible, but here I am. They gave it to me for an attack, but I had plans of my own."

"Stay away from her, Randall, if you know what's good for you," I say.

Millie looks particularly weak, and I know that whatever she did to end up in hell has taken its toll on her, not to mention the collapse in the dungeons.

"Don't you understand? I don't care about the war, the other Alphas, not even about ruling or conquering. Everything I've done has been just to make her mine. And I have the big advantage: you won't do anything while she's under my control," he says, pressing the knife to her throat.

I hear Jeremiah's footsteps behind me.

"By the blessed goddess," the vampire says. Randall puts his other hand to his lips.

"Don't move, vampire, and neither do you, killer."

"You will not hurt her, you will not hurt your own mate."

"We have to save her! We can't let her stay near him! We've failed her enough and I can't forgive myself," Cormac cries desperately.

"I would rather let her die than be with you. I can't even look at her properly, I hate knowing she has your mark and smells like you"

"Can you be so despicable? You are the most evil of the alphas. Does it really surprise you that she didn't pick you?" I ask him. He runs the knife over my mark on my mate's neck, and she screams in pain.

I feel pain in my chest as well, is excruciating.

"Be very careful, Alpha... you know what I can do. So let's negotiate."

"You won't get out of here alive, Randall! You are surrounded!" Jeremiah shouts.

"Really? Because the demons may be dead, but the war is not over yet, and there are still allies waiting to attack, especially now that their guard is down. Yes, yes... I saw the demon fall, but I also saw the king fall. Who the hell is going to protect them now? There's no more superpowered wolf, and I have your precious Luna in my hands," he says, stroking my companion's arm with his burned hands.

She trembles and looks at me with pleading eyes. I see that she has a wound on her side, and she is holding it with her hand. I feel like I'm going crazy with pain.

Her eyes tell me to leave and not face this, that maybe we can find a way together, but I can't bear it.

"Let's fight, you and me, Randall," I tell him and he laughs.

"I don't have to fight you, stupid Alpha..."

"Let's fight in human form... let's show them who's the better Alpha."

"I won't, and there is no way you can threaten me to get what you want. I won, accept it, and if you don't want me to hurt her more, surrender. The day of the Red Moon will come when a low range woman joins a powerful Alpha, my father's prophecy said. And this is my pack, this moment has come. She will make me the most powerful, and you can't defeat me," he says, pressing her hand to her wound, and she screams.

Inside, I feel like I can't take it anymore, the thought of seeing her like this consumes my soul. My wolf begins to scream wildly in my head, my mind pounds, my lips tremble, and my hands turn into claws.

It's been a long time since Cormac lost control, and he is about to do the same. But everything indicates that it won't be like before. My vision blurs, my senses sharpen, I feel my body stretch, it's like my wolf is taking over, but... it's something more.

She has gone to hell, the king is missing, my beta is dying. The castle is destroyed, many of my warriors are dead, Constantine is dead, and we don't know if we have any enemies left.

All I can see are her eyes, the eyes that made me fall in love the moment I saw them. Her face has bruises, dirt in her hair, and she is crying.

Her beautiful doll-like face, those eyes that make me lose myself in infinity. She went to hell and came back, and I... would do anything for her.

A force inside me consumes me with all this realization, with everything that has happened in the last few hours, and I feel Cormac losing control. I hear gasps around me.

The world has changed, and it will never be the same again, I knew it.

Nothing will ever be the same again.
