Werewolf
Sold by my Alpha, bought by my Mate Chapter 90: The traitor
Asher
I knew that Ava and I, we had our differences, but to me she had been as much a part of this team as anyone else for some time now.
"Ava...please come with us...whatever happened, we'll understand," Duncan said desperately, holding out his hands for her to take.
"She won't," Jeremiah says, the other vampire smirks.
They seemed to know each other, though my friend didn't change his expression or lose the confidence and poise that had always characterized him.
"It's already too late...and your friend knows it," the unknown vampire say, and Jeremiah turned to me with a desperate look.
"This is just a distraction... go inside and protect Miss. We'll control this, they want her...", I didn't think twice and ran out.
"I'll go with you," Nate said suddenly, and we shot off to search the castle, leaving the whole strange encounter behind.
No doubt the warriors were already aware of what was going on, and I could see them running back and forth.
"They must have some kind of powerful enchantment, so our enemy can move like that," Nate told me.
Ava... it had to be her. I still couldn't believe she'd disappeared just to go with them; something had to be going on.
"What happened?" asked Constantine, who crossed our path, as we quickly brought him up to speed.
"By the goddess and the moon!" he said in horror.
"You have to protect His Majesty, we'll take care of the rest," say, and he would start screaming and setting off all the alarms.
His Majesty was far away, and even though he didn't seem to be the goal right now, we knew that he was the ultimate target of all of our enemies' actions.
"Over there..." Nate said to me as we saw blood in the hallways.
"They're going to my room," I say victoriously when I realize they've fallen into the trap, the door is open, and I hear Randall screaming, accompanied by burly rogues.
"Where is she? Tell me where the hell is she?" he shouted frantically. The room is turned upside down, and even the doors to the adjoining rooms were a mess.
"She's way out of your reach asshole" I said, and when he saw me, his face flushed with anger.
"Tell me where the hell you have her. This is not a fair choice! My mate has to choose, and you are forcing her," he said across the room as the rogues stood on either side of him as if to protect him.
"Sure, you talk about justice when you come here specifically to kidnap her, take her away from the castle against her will and the deal we made? Are you fucking kidding me?" I roar.
"I will do what I have to do to complete my destiny, and in my destiny is her. She is mine!"
"We'll see," I say and lunge at him.
"Neither you nor anyone else will prevail over my mate," he says angrily.
It seems Randall prefers to throw us his companions first. I have already defeated one of the rogues, who is already unconscious.
"Show me what you've got, rogue," Nate said to the others, and one of them growled back.
"Always the Alphas thinking they're more than the rest," he said with contempt.
"Quite the opposite. In my pack, we took some of you with us, and now they are part of Moonstone. There are no grudges or resentments; the wolf world does not have to be all hate," he adds.
"Lies!"
"It's your loss, bro," Nate told him, transforming into a wolf in midair, while the warrior did the same.
"Why don't we do this right now Randy, or are you afraid to face me?" I ask him as we make a sort of circle right at the entrance of the room, he tries to leave, surely going after my mate, and I avoid him at all costs.
"I'm not going to do anything you say, you damned killer, and besides, I'd think twice about it if I were you, now that I have my official Alpha title," he tells me, until the idea falls into my lap.
There's only one way he could have become an Alpha, and as far as I know he hasn't been in the Red Moon pack for a while. So... he must have defeated the incumbent Alpha, which after his death, Franco, undoubtedly fell to the previous Alpha.
"And you call me a killer..." I say, smiling, and see his shocked face.
"No... it's different."
"Oh boy.... yes is it very different; killing a wolf in war is not the same as killing your own father," he immediately turns into a wolf and looks at me with hatred. And Cormac take controls.
Randall falls on top of me and we both roll out of the room and down the corridors as I continue to listen to Nate fight the other rogues.
Cormac is bloodthirsty, he's wanted to kill this wolf from the first moment we saw him in Nate's pack, and he talked about justice for his brother. But never in my worst nightmares did I imagine it would come to this.
"This man is going to end up here right now," my wolf told me, and I could see that Randall's wolf was big and completely possessed by hate and rage.
"Don't let him go!" I told my wolf as I clawed at his paws, hurting him so he wouldn't run away.
Suddenly, he pushed me violently against a wall and I could feel the castle shaking; I didn't know if it was more hybrids or if the attack was escalating, but whatever it was, I couldn't let Randall get to her.
Suddenly, he turned human and demand like a madman.
"Where is she? Tell me where she is!"
"You'll never get her!" I yelled at him, turning back into human, and just as I felt the eclipse coming to an end, more King's Warriors appeared, and Randall began to flee down the hallways.
"Stop him!" I shouted as I turned into a wolf and kept my eyes on him.
"We got him!" Cormac said to me excitedly as we saw a group of soldiers coming across his front reaching the garden, when suddenly, our soldiers fell dead or knocked out all at once.
I saw that the garden was littered with smoking corpses of hybrids, while very few of the enemy were left standing.
And there, at the feet of the fallen soldiers of the king, was Ava. Duncan's expression was one of uncontrollable pain, while she seemed to pay no attention to anything, as if from one moment to the next she was against us and hated us for some reason, trying to do us as much harm as possible.
Randall stood behind her, and the other enemy vampire appeared as well, and they prepare to leave. They didn't have my mate, but we were all hurt by what had happened.
"Ava! I beg you! Stay...don't do this..." cried Duncan as Jeremiah held him down.
The garden was in shambles, but at least they hadn't been able to get into the castle, and the hybrids were under control, at least for now.
Ava didn't even flinch and turned her back to us when an arrow came at her.
"Ava! Watch out!" Duncan yelled, and she parried it with her hand like it was nothing.
The king's warriors kept shooting poisoned arrows, and suddenly I felt like I was being strangled; I couldn't breathe and fell to the ground, seeing that the others were in the same situation.
She disabled us so that we could not follow them.
"Do not use my name in vain... the names of the demons belong only to us, no matter which circle of hell we come from," she said, and walked away without looking back, leaving behind smoke, ash and death.
