Jeremiah

The fog is thick and mysterious, creating an atmosphere of tension and uncertainty, and no matter how far I walk, I feel like I'm going nowhere.

"We can't see a thing, sir," say the warriors who have dared to come with me.

They are a few steps behind me as I lead this strange and unexpected excursion. But I am prepared for whatever comes through this fog.

I have seen too many battles and wars over the years. I have faced demons, but none like these, and I fear they have some tricks up their sleeves.

I can feel the fear in the warriors, and it is understandable. I believe no one can be prepared for the enemy we face.

"Stay alert, gentlemen," I say as I move forward with firm but cautious steps.

I begin to see movement ahead, small shadows that grow larger as I approach. I don't know if they are moving or if it is my movement that is making them grow. Finally, I see that they are huge wolves, dark as the night.

“They are huge!”

"Look out!" the warriors yell as they fire their wolfsbane pistols, but they don't seem to hit anything, and the giant wolves keep coming.

"What the hell is that?" they say, confused, and I have no answers either.

"This isn't real," says a voice in my head, and it was too late when I finally confirmed it. This must be demon magic, they are trying to distract us, to lose us. First the fog, now this. The Whisperers must be really powerful.

"Up, stay alert! This is just a trick!" I shouted as real wolves appeared above us, as if they had jumped out of the shadows and rained down on us unexpectedly.

The warriors screamed and fell while I, with my knife and bare hands, dealt with the wolves that had fallen upon us, the common wolves from the packs that had chosen to stand against the king. I would show them no mercy.

"Attack! Take your positions! Don't let them advance! Stay alert!" I shouted as I heard the king's warriors approaching through the fog.

We could only see a few steps ahead, and in some unfortunate cases, the enemy was practically in front of you, clawed at you, and it was already too late.

"Don't be fooled, this is the work of the demons! Trust your instincts, wolves!" I kept shouting, trying to keep the warriors from giving up.

I fought with all my might, dragging the wolves across the ground and attacking them with my knife before they even reached the ground. I took most of them to attack fewer of the warriors, but still I knew there would be casualties.

The wolves had always been the strongest, with a ferocity and savagery that characterized them, while we vampires were dominated by rage. I thought I was different, but these situations brought out the worst in me.

I grabbed the wolves by the neck and broke it with a single flick of my hand. I heard them scream as I dragged them by their tails and threw them through the air, hitting others.

I tore at their fur, felt their fangs trying to moderate me, but I removed them before they could. His Majesty's warriors continued firing wolfsbane, the order was that no enemy invaders could enter the castle, no matter what it took.

I didn't know where the next attackers were, but I preemptively threw them in all directions. The ground was covered in blood, and if this was the first fight... it was extremely violent.

My hand was already aching from holding the knife so tightly, and I was exhausted from the effort. I feared that this was only the beginning and that more wolves would appear.

We knew that the demons had allied themselves with many packs, and surely all of them would provide a good number of warriors. I wondered what these creatures had offered these wolves to provide their warriors in this way.

Perhaps power and ambition know no bounds.

"Mr. Jeremiah!" a wolf yelled, and when I turned, the warrior was already dead and bleeding.

I saw daggers flying, no doubt poisoned. Immediately I felt one graze my calf and then my arm. I dodged as best I could, but even with my amazing eyesight, the fog was against me.

"Prepare your defenses! Watch out!" a warrior shouted from behind me.

I brought my arms forward and covered my face as I felt a dagger strike me directly in the shoulder. The wolfsbane did not harm me, and I immediately took the dagger and threw it at the enemy, along with those I saw on the ground. I heard cries of pain.

"Keep going! Send them back!" I shouted, turning around to see that the warriors were still standing.

The battalions of His Majesty were not just anyone; they were made up of brave and strong wolves. They were well-prepared, even for this fierce attack.

And when I finally seemed to have broken through the fog and thought I would meet the demons, I was faced with a more sinister fate, for I was confronted with vampires I had tried to avoid all my life.

There were new ones and old ones, vicious and violent, and they all looked at me as if they expected to meet me.

“Well well a vampire allied to the nasty king… This has become very interesting," said one.

"We've been waiting for you...no matter how old you are, we'll be able to take you" indicated another and watched their thirsty and evil expressions.

"Let's see if that's true gentlemen, although I rather doubt it." di

"What do we do sir?" a warrior said to me.

"Stakes, fire, it's the only thing that kills them" I pointed and waited for strategic backup to arrive. I didn't know in what condition the rest of the castle would be in, it was obvious to think that we were not the only ones facing them.

"Goddess give me strength..." I sighed.

The vampires growled and bared their teeth at me. Some of them seemed to be covered in blood, I didn't know if it was to hide their scent or because they had already taken some prey. The enemy was too well organized and had spared no means to harm us.

I realized that it was as if there were layers and layers of enemies we had to fight through to finally reach the demons and a possible final confrontation, but now I feared if this confrontation had any chance of ending.

Everything was a trap; they controlled us while we defended ourselves like a fly in a spider's web, sticky and impossible to escape.

And when I heard a familiar voice echoing in the fog, all my fears were renewed.

“Jeremiah… we finally meet”
