Werewolf
Sold by my Alpha, bought by my Mate Chapter 25: His chance
Asher
"I swear I don't know what happened! I admit that my wolf has been off for a long time, but everything has changed since I found her. Goddess knows I would never hurt any of you! You must believe me!"
It seemed there was no way out. What he said was true, although I hated that Randall had interrupted my moment with her. I wanted to rip his guts out in one fell swoop.
My Beta looked at me sadly. I knew I had looked very bad in front of everyone, but more importantly, I knew I was interfering with the King's plans.
"What matters, Alpha, is what we saw, and unfortunately, it was a painful spectacle. An Alpha attacking his own Beta and friends? I must admit that our enemy has all the advantages here," Maximus said angrily.
A few days had passed, and they hadn't even called me to hear my side of the story. I imagined I was already guilty in front of them. Cormac was so ashamed he didn't even speak.
"Your Majesty, just hear me ..." Jeremiah interrupted, and the king practically rolled his eyes.
"I know you mean well, my friend, but we have to see this for what it is... an Alpha who has lost control," the King said, clearly in a bad mood.
"I understand, Your Majesty... but no one can deny that this was a rather strange event. I think there is something else. And it's important to point it out because if a third force is involved... it could cause us many problems," my vampire friend said, managing to get everyone's attention.
"I don't like this at all..." Constantine said.
"My king... I know I'm just a Beta... but I've known Asher my whole life, and I've never seen Asher like this... he's never attacked me. We've been training together ever since we learned to walk," Duncan pleaded. The king sighed.
"Do you really think there's something strange?" he said, looking at Ava. He always sought her out when he needed advice or reassurance. Their relationship was very strange.
"I have to say, I also find something strange... Master," Ava explained, and Maximus seemed more uncomfortable now.
"We need to know now more than ever if Alpha Randall is involved in this and what his connections are," Constantine said, taking note.
"Rat-dall is involved beyond a shadow of a doubt..." Ava said, and my Beta stifled a laugh. He was getting crazier and crazier about the demoness.
"Rat-dall... I mean, it's excellent..." he said and tried to compose himself.
"Any suggestions?" the king asked.
"We could do a reconnaissance directly from the scene, venture into enemy territory," Ava said, bored, as if she was tired of being the only one offering solutions.
"If Millie goes back to Red Moon... how will Randall face all the evil he has done to the pack? Would he present her as his Luna? My mate told me all the mistakes she made there..." I said thoughtfully.
"My point exactly..." the demoness said, pleased, as if I had finally realized.
And I really had. This was good, really good. Randall would have to hide too much.
"How would he introduce her? He himself confessed that he rejected her..." my Beta said, smiling at me.
I had to admit that the demon's idea was very good, and I was impressed that she was helping me in some way.
The next day, Ava mentioned it at breakfast, and I saw the pained look on stupid Randall's face from afar.
Millie was there, too, and I saw her for the first time in days. She looked more and more confident and beautiful, although I sensed she was very nervous. Her scent brought me back to life; it was practically calling me.
I knew she didn't want to go back to her pack, but I thought it was a necessary step. Besides, then it would be my turn; she would visit River Ash, and I was sure she would fall in love with the place.
"I guess it will be a visit where I would use the time to be with her, right? We would sleep together, my Luna...", Randall asked, trying to get something positive out of it.
"Everyone will go... it's necessary to keep the balance. Constantine will be my proxy. Jeremiah and Ava will stay with me at the castle. Alpha Asher will go with you as a guest, along with his Beta," the king said, leaving no doubt.
"They will stay a few days and share time with her, with Alpha Randall having priority. That's all, get ready, and I hope I don't hear of any problems," the King said.
Ava raised an eyebrow and looked at Randall as if she was happy with the news, while my enemy ran off to get everything ready for when they got home.
"You will be mine... my mate," he whispered before he left, and I growled.
Oh yes, I imagined he had a lot of things to fix. And when we left the hall, she was waiting for me in the hallway.
I didn't take a step, just waited for her to come closer, and she did, little by little, until we ended up hugging, my hands running through her short hair.
"I missed you so much... my precious mate..." I whispered, and she smiled at me.
"Really?"
"Of course! I missed seeing you, the smell of paint on your hands, the sparkle in your eyes, and your laughter," I said from the bottom of my heart, and she seemed happy.
"Are you afraid of me?" I asked, leaning in to look at her. She seemed hesitant.
"I think there is more good in you than bad... Asher," she said, and I loved the way she pronounced my name.
"Well, you make me very happy. How about you take advantage of the day and paint something while Duncan and I train?" She seemed more and more comfortable with us, and I imagined this would be the rest of our lives, her in charge, sharing the day together.
"Wow, my Luna... that is quite a strange drawing," my Beta said, and when I looked at it, it was something quite dark, with very special characters, they seemed like ghosts, almost.
"It was a nightmare I had... I thought it was real..." she said nervously.
All this was very strange, far from what she used to paint. I wondered if it was because she was returning to the nightmare of her pack... or if it was something else.
