Ava

"Filthy wolves! Let me go! Don't you remember the agreement you made? This is treason!" my brother shouted as the Free Wolf warriors ignored him.

The cloth was heavy and the net impenetrable. I didn't know how they had managed to control it, but it worked wonders.

"You'll pay for this, Ava! You're dead! Do you hear me? Dead!" he kept screaming, while suddenly some spears hurt him, and he screamed worse than ever. I saw him fall, wounded, or maybe subdued. Unfortunately, he didn't seem to be dead.

"Luna Simone... it's a pleasure to see you again," I said as the woman smiled at me.

She was as calm and confident as when we visited her pack, as if she hadn't done much when she had one of the most dangerous creatures in the world at her feet.

"Ava... you've done a good job, and no one seems to suspect anything. We will destroy it from within," she said. I knew what my part was, though small, it required efficient and continuous work, but I didn't know theirs.

"How?"

"Your friends in the castle have killed one demon and will kill more, I'm sure. We have cleared the paths, and the king's allies are already arriving to provide supplies and weapons. If we play our cards right, the demons won't be able to take the human Luna," she said convincingly.

Even though I am quite pessimistic, I surprisingly found myself believing her.

"What do I have to do?"

"Stay out of sight and help where you can. The castle has already been taken, and we must fight from within," she said.

I imagine Constantine and the others already have a good plan to protect Maximus... I trusted that. The fact that they had taken the castle bothered me. Duncan, Jeremiah, Little Thing and all the others were in danger.

"Then I must go at once," I said.

The battle was my place, and I wasn't going to give up the chance to kick some traitors' asses. I looked at my brother, who seemed unconscious.

"Don't worry, we'll take care of it, help will come. Just stay alive, Ava," the Luna said, and I shook her hand.

I don't know if this is what they call a will to live or if I was just motivated by seeing my brother fall. But the closer I got to the castle, the better I felt. With every step I took, my body and mind connected with my destiny.

The first thing I saw was the fire. It seemed to be the work of my brothers, but I didn't feel its power as strongly now, at least not here. Surely those insects would continue with their evil plans.

"Stop them from entering the castle," I repeated to myself as I approached the battle.

I saw that Asher was fighting Randall, and unfortunately the rat was overpowering him and driving him crazy. I thought about what to do, but when I saw that he had been shot, I figured it was my moment to act.

"Always so cowardly," I muttered, throwing a rock at the damn Alpha's head, which managed to distract him, and Asher take control.

"You owe me two now, big Alpha," I muttered.

When I heard more screams and realized that there were more warriors in trouble, especially an Alpha that seemed familiar, I focused all my strength and began to move the fire, driving it away from the forest and more toward the castle gate to prevent the enemies from entering.

I assumed that the walls of the building would hold and that there wouldn't be too much damage.

I saw the Renegades running from one side to the other, burning, and Randall already reached by the fire.

"This went much better than I thought," I thought, even though I knew the Alpha was heading for the castle and wouldn't just give up the search for Little Thing.

I heard a group of the king's warriors approaching, and just as I was about to jump into the fire to chase after Randall, someone unexpectedly came out of the forest.

"I knew you were a traitor, demoness..." Ivan said, looking at me with disgust, it was obvious he had seen too much.

"And I always knew you were trash, so we're even," I said, and he growled.

"You won't get away with this. You spent days deceiving my Alpha, pretending to be the savior, telling him what he wanted to hear. And now you attack him? You're a bitch," he said, and I laughed.

We walked in circles as he pushed me away from the fire and from chasing Randall. I waited for his attack; he was a simple beta and stupid, not like Duncan, but he was a desperate and dangerous wolf nonetheless.

"Your Alpha was stupid enough to believe in a demon. No matter how attractive I am," I said with a raised eyebrow, and he came at me.

I fought him and found more and more strength. Maybe the demons were weakening, or maybe it was just the war and the fire that gave me energy.

"You're a damn bitch, you seduced my Alpha, and you'll pay for it!" he said as he pushed me to the ground and we rolled.

"I don't seduce ordinary Alphas! He stole my talisman!" I said as I got on top of him and started punching him repeatedly in the face.

"He trusted you more than me. You'll see when I bring your body before him! I want him to see who you really are," he shouted, trying to choke me, but I broke his hand and he screamed in pain.

"Don't tell me you had feelings for your Alpha? That would explain a lot. It would be interesting if it was mutual, but I don't think so," I said.

He continued to fight with me, almost choking me when I quickly stood up and kicked him between the legs, hearing him scream in pain.

"You weren't going to get anywhere, and neither was your Alpha. Why do you think you deserve everything for doing nothing? You're worth nothing," I said, and now he was crying.

"Just because I kicked your little friend? Sad little beta..." I said and kicked him again between his legs, causing irreparable damage. Much better.

"That was for trying to take advantage of Jessica, and something tells me you probably did the same thing to Jenny. You don't deserve to be near any woman, and I might add, you don't deserve to be near any man either," I said, getting on top of him again and pressing my hands firmly into his neck.

I saw his face turning red, the air coming out of his throat, his eyes almost popping out, and slowly he died at my hands.

"Now you won't hurt anyone else," I sighed.

And there lay Ivan, the poor Beta of Red Moon. In the distance I saw more help coming from allied alphas, and I hid.

They couldn't see me, at least not yet. I walked through the fire, which didn't hurt me, and headed straight for the castle, thinking it might be the last time I set foot here. And so it was.
