Werewolf
Sold by my Alpha, bought by my Mate Chapter 45: Allies
Randall
Asher was having his moment with Mildred, and to me, that meant I was desperate and would do anything to know what they were planning.
I had already seen them kissing and touching in the past, and that bothered me deeply, but just as she had been with me in the pack, I couldn't stop her from being with him now.
"Stupid Asher... how I wish I could defeat you once and for all."
It had been hard for me to leave the castle; it was clear that it was extremely well guarded. However, having the Whisperers had many advantages, one of which was that they had powers that... no one could easily anticipate.
I made my way through the forest in the dark, passing warriors who couldn't even see me. I walked a good distance without changing into my wolf form and arrived at the place where I had been summoned.
From the first moment, I felt the great energy of the Alphas; it was a gathering like no other. It was the first time I would meet them, my supposed allies, the alphas with whom I would work to make what we wanted to happen finally happen.
And something that surprised me quite a bit was that I had already seen these Alphas somewhere else; actually, I had seen them in my head; I had briefly dreamed of them... now I remembered.
How could I dream about things that hadn't happened yet? Could this be one of the powers mentioned in the prophecy? I wondered.
"Alpha Randall... at last," said a vampire who was undoubtedly ancient.
But he looked nothing like Jeremiah; that one was a pretentious vampire who thought he was better than everyone else.
This one, on the other hand, was undoubtedly strong, but he was relaxed, and I could see malice, desire, and ambition in his eyes, which I found very interesting.
"Vampires... I didn't know I have to work with your kind..." I said, but he didn't seem affected by my comment.
"I am Balthazar... and we have been told that you have an important task to accomplish with us. We all want the same: to overthrow the enemy," the vampire told me, and then introduced me to some of the people there. Most of them were from small packs or had been reduced after the war.
Many packs had lost territory and power; some, like Red Moon, had even lost their Alpha.
Lost Alphas, weak packs, wolves beaten by a failed war, that's what they were. I could also smell rogues in the distance. Ah... and vampires.
Even with all that... I understood that there was also something important, that we all wanted revenge, to take what was rightfully ours. To take the chance to be strong again.
"Alpha Randall is hosted by the king... and he is one of our most important allies," the vampire said, and I smiled. Finally, my value was recognized.
"Oh, really? Tell us, Alpha Randall... how are things going with Alpha Asher? I understand you are fighting for a mate," an Alpha said, giving me a disdainful look, and I heard murmurs.
"Alpha Asher took my mate away from me; I'm just fighting for the right to have her back. And we're making progress, but I have no doubt that with everything I've done and the support I've received, I'll have her in my hands soon," I said, and the vampire Balthazar smiled.
"Well, we've given a lot, that's for sure, Alpha... and that's why we want to ask you for something in return."
"What do you mean?" I asked, feeling nervous for some reason.
"I mean that this is a negotiation, and you have to give to get, and it's time for you to give us something," he said.
"Who put you in charge?" I asked, offended.
"No one really; everyone has a role to play here, and believe me when I tell you that we know what you are doing is very important, but for this to succeed, we need your full cooperation," the vampire said, and I saw the other alphas nod.
I didn't like being watched, let alone questioned about my progress. My mate was mine, of course, even though I knew there were many more things and problems involved.
If we were to defeat the King, I needed her; the Whisperers needed to know that the prophecy was true, or at least more information about it to help me.
This was becoming more and more real; it wasn't just a commitment or an agreement with the Whisperers to get my mate, but there was really going to be a war against the King, and I was against it.
We had already lost one war, although now everything seemed more organized and really thought out, with strategy.
All these allied alphas and vampires had been working for a long time, and not even the king could imagine what was going on.
"Come this way, Alpha," Balthazar said, leading me further into the forest to a kind of valley. Below, there were clouds that seemed to cover everything down there.
"To defeat the king, we need more resources, more than a destined mate, a prophecy, and the courage of several Alphas," he said, pointing down, and suddenly the clouds moved, and I saw a large settlement, hundreds of men, warriors, and soldiers waiting.
"An army..." I said, overwhelmed.
"Wolves, alphas, rogues, vampires... and other creatures. That's right. You are the only one who has been inside the castle, and we need information. The whisperers asked you to check a door..."
"Yes, the door of the demon's room leads to the king's room."
"We need something from there," Balthazar told me.
"I can't go in like nothing; she has me watched, they all have me watched; they know I'm not trustworthy and that I'm hiding something," I said with resistance. Did he understand that these people wanted me dead?
"Well, it's your problem to earn their trust and that of your mate. I don't have a mate, but what I know about werewolves... is that bond can't be forced..." he told me.
As if I didn't know! It's not that easy. I needed her to love me. What did I have to do to make her love me?
"Just like you said, you know nothing about it... the world of werewolves is completely different," I replied, and he raised his hands in defense.
"Check out the castle, keep an eye on Ava. We need to get as close to the king as possible and know what he's hiding. We need you to get into the king's room and see what he has. Maximus... is too quiet, or scared... so he's hiding something. He went on an expedition around the area, the first in years, except for when he went to war. He's worried, so we need to know who will be named his successor... or if he has a fated or chosen mate," he said.
"But... how will I be able to enter this room so easily?" I asked.
"We will help you with that... stay tuned."
