"Yes, Your Majesty! We are now certain that we can find more information about our enemies there. At least we have a starting point," Jeremiah says as he looked at the king, who seemed less than pleased with the news.

No wonder; from what Asher had told me, they had found several Alphas guilty of treason, they tortured them, and what they had found was not encouraging.

I was kept here to witness these meetings because there was no other option. I was supposed to have information about what was coming, and I needed context. Even though I could see the looks the king was giving me, I hated every moment I was there.

"We need to get out there, Your Majesty. We must learn more and at least try to avoid this war," the vampire explained.

"And what if you run into our enemies or Randall?", the king asks. I shiver; I don't even want to imagine it.

"Well, we'll have more information to fight him with, and we won't wait for an attack, but strike the first blow and be as prepared as possible," my mate explains as the king sighs.

"Then so be it. Leave if you must. Take the warriors and everything you need for this journey and keep me informed. And, Constantine, we need to confirm who our allies are outside and inside the packs and wolves. Let's call the packs outside the region as well. Let's demand that they honor the alliances," he says.

"Of course, my lord. The information we have is solid, and I am sure our friends will come up with even more data. If you are in danger and the wolves... the world will suffer too. They will listen to our request" Constantine said, looking happy. The king has finally made his move.

"I can also contact the human world, I know they are not the strongest, but they helped us in the last war. It is better that they are alert, and their communication networks are good, they could hear something," points out Alpha Nathaniel, Luna Penelope's mate.

Everyone is surprised by this idea, but I think it's a very good one.

"We need all the help we can get. I'll also communicate with the vampires," Jeremiah says.

Asher gave me a pained look. I knew what it meant; that he had to go, that he was going away, and he would surely tell me that I couldn't go with him.

We had spent a lot of time together and she, along with the ladies of the castle, had explained more about my role as Luna. I couldn't have done it without her help.

"So it seems. There's a war coming," I tell her, remembering how she had told me about the last one, where she and her Alpha had been victorious.

"I have to get back to my pack, we have to prepare for what's coming."

"Are you going to be okay?" I ask her and she smiles at me.

"We may be human Lunas, Mildred, but that doesn't mean we're weak. You'll be able to handle this, just like I can handle my pack. And it's going to be okay. We women can do a lot, we know and do things that men can't even imagine. I believe in you, I believe in you." she says, so convinced that I feel inspired. I say goodbye with a heavy heart, although we promise to see each other soon, and I believe we will.

When I returned to the room, my mate was waiting for me. I go straight into his arms.

"Please don't leave me," I tell him painfully.

“Millie… you can't. Randall wants you…”

"I can be of help, I can see... where Ava is, and the others... just don't leave me here..." I say, and I see the desperation on his face.

"I'm sorry, mate, but I need you to be safe. And the only way to do that is to defeat these assholes. Only then can I be truly calm and secure. I need to give you a world where you're safe," he says, and I try to control my tears, albeit badly.

"I need you by my side, here with me" I tell him, and he strokes my hair.

"I'll be back soon and with good news. I will never leave you for long...my precious Luna. I promise" he declares to me and begins to kiss me.

His lips seem to want to express the desperation he feels and his tongue possesses me, as I move closer and closer to him, feeling my heart beating for him.

I take advantage of this moment of passion and begin to remove his shirt. He is so focused on the kiss that he doesn't notice until my hands stop sliding over his skin and I hear him moan.
