Ava

A few days had passed, and I could still feel the taste of his skin and lips.

How could this man have infiltrated my senses in such a way?

I had been with many men of all kinds, including wolves. They were arrogant, unpleasant, and conceited... but they were extremely attractive and knew what they were doing in bed.

For a being who lived forever, it was significant to remember someone in such a remarkable way. More than that... I longed for him. I wanted to see him again, preferably to finish what we had started.

Don't get me wrong... I was quite satisfied with his attentions, and I knew very well that a lot could be done in bed.

But I wanted him, I wanted to feel him deep inside me. I couldn't stop thinking about what his pants were hiding, just imagining what it would be like, I heard myself sigh.

And yet... the doggy had many abilities that I appreciated, he knew how to use his tongue and his hands very well. And suddenly I found myself thinking about when I would see him again.

"Focus, Ava!"

We had many problems to deal with, and my king needed me. I missed having my bracelet with me, and I stroked my wrist, almost hoping that it would magically reappear. But it wasn't that easy, not even in the paranormal world.

I continued on my way through some passages in the forest and beyond the castle grounds. I knew there was no point in talking to my brothers; the deal had already been made, and the stupid Randall would have to face the consequences of his irresponsible actions.

But I found nothing, and I had no choice but to try to find something inside the castle. When I returned, I stumbled upon someone who was undoubtedly following the same steps as me, at least with the same goal, even if he didn't really know what was really happening.

What would happen if someone found out that I had lost my talisman? No, no one could know.

"Jeremiah... my favorite vampire," I said smiling.

He was a vampire like no other, attractive, strong... but too proper for my taste. That didn't stop me from trying to seduce him from time to time, and suspiciously... he didn't fall for it.

I admired the man for that... although something told me he was waiting for someone. He had lived for several centuries and had not found his companion.

"Ava... Have you found anything outside the castle?"

"Nothing yet... I don't even know where to begin."

"Our enemies are hiding. I think they know we're after them, they also know the King's strength. I'd like to think they're still licking their wounds, but... I try not to underestimate anyone," he said.

"I'm all for shaking things up a bit to get the rats out," I said, and he wrinkled his face.

As I said, too proper and neat for my taste.

"Maybe it's not necessary... I think the king was right, it's better to control what we can from the inside," he said, gesturing, and I was quite surprised when we arrived at Asher's room instead of Randall's.

"I thought the Rat Alpha was the one hiding something..."

I had been in his room, but I hadn't found anything. If he had hidden something, I really didn't know where, which was very strange since I knew every inch of this place.

"I found an interesting clue, in here," he said, and as he rummaged through what appeared to be a sketchbook, I saw a painting that almost stopped my heart.

"Do they look familiar? Are they from hell?" he asked me.

They were undoubtedly the shapes of my brothers... fucking worms... not in their original form, but as they had been left after leaving Hell. No doubt, Jeremiah did not know how they ended up after being cast out.

They seemed to have no bodies or anything physical... but the painting of Little Thing had depicted them perfectly, even capturing the eyes as if they were empty and the shadowy appearance they had.

"Nightmares..." is written below. Could she sense them?

"Yeah... demons. The big question is...why is she painting them?" I asked, and apparently no one had an answer.

"Something strange is approaching. I'm afraid the enemies of His Majesty are more advanced and organized in their attack than we think," he said.

"I agree," I said. At least my old friend didn't know they were here. And the worst part is, I didn't know how to stop them.

"There's a smell of sulfur in the distance... outside the area, I thought maybe a demon like that had passed through, you know," I said, and he nodded. Unfortunately, I had to lie so as not to arouse suspicion.

"Maybe someone made a deal," Jeremiah said, and I swallowed hard.

"If so, there's not much we can do..."

"That's right... if that's the case, we'll have to call in other powers," he said, and I didn't like it at all.

"You know that if you do anything against the demons, I could be affected," I said.

"Your bond with the king, your talisman, will protect you," he said, and I tried not to panic.

"I didn't want to tell you, little vampire... but the king is not at his best. He's very tired from all the war, he doesn't sleep thinking about what might happen, and... he despairs wanting an heir. If we expose our bond, this weakness could be revealed... and no one wants that," I told him, and he seemed to believe me.

"Then we have to be careful."

"That's right... I think we should investigate outside, go directly to the traitor Alphas," I suggested.

"I'd like to go, but I want to make sure I can help Asher."

"I can help him," I answered immediately, and he looked at me suspiciously.

"I thought you didn't like him..." he answered doubtfully.

"I like her a little more every time, but I want to protect her. I think she's important," I said, and he nodded.

"I think she's important too. I'll try to come and go and find out what I can," he confirmed.

"I will investigate inside the castle," he said, and we left it at that. Better... Jeremiah might suspect, and it's better to have him away.

I collapsed on my bed in agony, wondering how I could keep this secret any longer. And yet, my mind goes back to the Beta... to his hands on me, to the way he kissed me.

I have to lose myself in his skin to forget all this. In which, perhaps in a short time... I'll lose everything that matters, my poor life... forever."
