Werewolf
Sold by my Alpha, bought by my Mate Chapter 119: There is always a way out
Ava
"What is a woman like you doing with an Alpha like that?" Luna Simone asked when we were alone.
"I'm bound to him..." I said without further details.
"A woman like you shouldn't be tied to a man. Especially not to an insecure Alpha like him," she said, and it wasn't so much a criticism as a simple observation.
"Then why do you support his cause?" I dared to ask.
"Because, I have no doubts about my pack's destiny, it is to be near the Luna of Prophecy, and we will do whatever it takes. She is the one that will bring prosperity to my people," she says very determinedly. I guess everyone has their own goals. And just as I was about to leave, she speaks.
"Go with the goddess Ava... and when the time comes, look where the moon is," she says without further explanation, and I have no idea if it's a premonition or just crazy ideas of a rather strange Luna.
"I don't believe you for a moment demoness. The Alpha is strong and determined, but too young. You and I both know that you are not on our side..." Balthazar appeared and got my attention.
"This agreement was reached thanks to me..."
"I doubt that."
"I don't care what you think, nor anyone else..." I say, smiling, and he grabs my arm. I could punch a hole in his chest if I wanted to, even though I am weak. But it's better to keep up appearances.
"Tell me the truth..."
"I answer to the Alpha who has my amulet,"
"Do you know what your brothers would do if they found out about your little games? They would tear you to pieces. And if you think they're weakened by what you've done, you're wrong," he says, and this piece of information seems interesting to me.
"Weakened?"
"Yes. Don't play dumb. One of your brothers disappeared when he tried to erase the traces in the cave. I suspected you had passed through there," he says, and I have to try hard to hide my smile.
They had come, they really had! And not only that, they had caught some of those worms. I've never been much of a dancer, but I swear I could dance to the music they were playing right now.
And I could only imagine dancing with Duncan.
If they had found my message, it was because he had smelled my scent. This strange connection between us had led him, and a foolish hope was reborn in me.
"I guess we call the police or..." I say ironically and he grabs my arm. Then Randall appears and interrupts us, and the vampire whispers to me.
"Be careful what you do, I'm watching you."
Randall's macho super circus is worse than I thought. He's taking advantage of this girl who's obviously terrified and would rather swallow a hot nail than let this man touch her, but she's as trapped as I am.
"Are you okay?" I ask the girl and she trembles. Randall is gone, and she is trying desperately to get dressed.
"What's your name?" I ask and she seems hesitant. "Your real name, not the one that idiot told you."
"Jessica,"
"How did you get here, Jessica?"
"I'm from the Red Moon Pack, and what he said is true. I knew he wasn't a good man, but..."
"Sometimes we have to do things to survive, or do shitty decision" she nods.
"Also, I came here looking for my friend. She disappeared a long time ago when Ivan came looking for her one day. I know I wasn't good to her, I betrayed her, but I haven't heard from her. I'm worried," she says, and I think I know to whom she's referring.
"You're looking for Jenny," I say, and her eyes light up.
"Yes! It's her! I asked Ivan, and he wouldn't tell me where she was. Nobody tells me anything,"
"I'm really sorry, Jessica, but Jenny is dead. She was sacrificed by these men," I say, and her expression is one of anguish, and tears flow.
I don't know if I'm getting very weak, but I go to her and hug her, hold her, maybe I'm becoming more human than I want to admit.
"But how?" she asks tearfully, and I explain what happened.
"And that's not all, Randall also killed her father, he took over the role of Alpha. It wasn't because the Alpha had an accident or some nonsense like they told you in your pack," I say. She looks at me in horror.
"I think it's time for you to understand, Jessica, that this is not the place to be and that what this man is doing is madness. This situation is not going to end well for you as he wants you to be his Luna along with his destined mate who has already been marked by another Alpha," I explain.
"What can I do? I feel like I have no way out..."
"There's always a way out, and we'll find it together. I just want to know that if you have the chance to escape, you'll take it." I say, seeing hope in her eyes.
"If I have that chance, I wouldn't waste it for anything in the world."
"Very well. I always say that we have to fight and defend ourselves, but in this case, unfortunately, we have to put up with this idiot and not fight back. At least he can't do anything to you because his little friends isn't working," I say, she gives me a sad smile.
"He hasn't gotten it up for a long time..."
"We'll keep this a secret," I say and help her get dressed.
"It looks like you're going to get some more rest," I say, using some of my power to give her a peaceful sleep. She needs and deserves it.
When I leave the tent, I see Randall talking to some men, and they look tough and have very pale skin, so much so that it's scary. Next to them are some rogues, the worst kind.
"The Renegades... that's not the right name for you, gentlemen. You are a brave people who have accepted to go against the tide," Randall says, trying to praise the pale men who don't smile. They look more like vampires, as dry and dead as they must be inside.
"But we are, Alpha. We are proud of it. To have no mate, to follow no destiny but our own free will," says the man, he's pale, tall and bald. He appears to be an older Alpha.
"And you... the fiercest rogues, the boldest pack: Wolves of the Abyss. Welcome too. Both of you, I assume you don't have good relations with the king. So I think we'll get along very well," Randall said happily.
