Werewolf
Sold by my Alpha, bought by my Mate Chapter 71: Terms and conditions
Randall
Now I realized that I had wasted all the opportunities. I knew deep in my heart that I would not win this fight, if possible quite the opposite.
Asher was gaining more and more ground, and I began to realize that this had been an impossible race from the beginning. I had rejected Mildred...and that was hard to make up for, especially after she had been given a second chance mate.
On top of that, River Ash was everything my pack was not: organized, thriving...frankly ideal.
Everyone loved Mildred and wanted her from the start, there were even human mates here like it was no big deal. These people thought differently than we did.
But I had not thrown away my shot; there was no turning back for me. My allies needed me, I was not alone, my pack depended on me, and the king was weak; it was our opportunity.
"Mate can still be ours, even if not in the right way," Balo told me.
He convinced me more and more that I had to do whatever it took to make her mine. Whether she chose me by hook or by crook.
I had tried to seduce her, to approach her, to talk to her, to insist, but I seemed to be nothing in the face of all the perfection this pack represented.
Asher didn't play around either; he seized his moment with her and took her with him whenever he could. I wasn't going to sit idly by and wait for her to come back or spend some time with me.
"We can play that game too," my wolf whispered to me.
I wasn't going to be able to do this alone, so I needed help, but I was completely frustrated because The Whisperers couldn't come here; it would be extremely suspicious, so I had to figure it out.
I felt Ava very far away; she had been stubborn and much stronger than I thought, the pulsing of the talisman seemed to do nothing to her.
I regretted not getting more out of her, but I knew that I would need her sooner or later, that she would fall into my power, it was only a matter of time.
So I played my cards, the ones I still had.
"Jenny..." I found her after a long walk away from the borders of River Ash, I knew it wouldn't look good at all, me wandering away.
"Randy... I'm here for whatever you need," she said as I caressed her face and hair.
Now I thought it hadn't been a bad idea to have her around, she was offering herself to me and I needed an extra pair of hands.
"I needed to talk to my allies...I needed you to approach Her Majesty's forest and follow the scent of sulfur, they'd find you beyond a dead tree, I was sure," I explained to her. She looked lost.
What did she think I wanted? Kisses and hugs? A date?
"But I couldn't! It was too complicated at the castle... they were calling a Council of the king's allies. The castle and its surroundings were under maximum surveillance..."
"A council?" I asked in astonishment.
Damn... The whisperers, Balthazar and the others must have known about this!
"We had to warn them, otherwise everything we'd worked for would be for nothing," I told her.
Jenny was not like Ava or the king's women warriors. She was just a simple she-wolf who cared about unimportant things. I knew what I was asking of her was beyond her.
"You just didn't understand, Randall.... I was afraid they must have figured out by then that I was there, spying! That damn vampire was following me around every corner. I didn't know how I was going to make it," she cried.
"She was just a simple girl, she wasn't meant for this, let alone to be a Luna," Balo said in my head, snorting.
"You had to do it for me...it was a request from your Alpha and your mate..." I said and she looked hopeful.
"Randall... I didn't know if I could, I was really scared..."
"Jenny... this was a Luna's job, did you really want to be my Luna? I mean... what happened if in the future we had some serious problems? I was going to need your help," I told her, she was shaking.
What I told her was true. A Luna wasn't just about looking pretty; it required more. I wondered if Mildred would help me with whatever I needed.
"Yes, I was a Luna! But what you wanted me to do was..."
"You'll make it, I promise, you're stronger than you think," I lied.
"I'll do this while you're .... With her? I'm putting my skin on the line while you're having fun with your human. I had to risk my life so you could mark her and fuck her while I waited for you to... dump her?" she said, suddenly plucking up some courage.
I didn't know if it was the fear talking, or if there was just some bravery in her. I held her by the shoulders; I depended on her, this had to work.
"Jenny... we talked about this, without Mildred we had nothing. I needed her power, I needed her to choose me and mark her... and I was losing, that was the truth. I was only telling her because I had no one else to trust. I needed all the help. Because I was almost certain that she would choose our enemy."
"But that wasn't fair...! I wanted you! You promised!" she said, looking me in the eye.
"Do you want our enemy to win? Do you know what Asher would do when he won this war? When the king had all the power?" I asked her.
"He would take Red Moon...he would kill everyone, as he killed my brother. Your family wouldn't be Beta anymore, you wouldn't be in the running to be anyone's Luna, you wouldn't get your mate and no one would choose you...you wouldn't be anything, Jenny," I told her and she looked scared.
"So... we had no choice..." she said.
"Yes, I had to alert my allies and get Mildred. If she talked to them... they would see her as a future Luna, the real one," I told her.
She stared at me and thought, I didn't like her thinking. She was there to take orders, to listen to me, not to have ideas.
"I could go, but I needed something first...something to empower me," she said.
"You didn't give the orders here..." I said in a threatening voice.
"It was something that would help me and at the same time... would help you..." she replied, I snorted.
"What the fuck did you need?"
"I would go and do whatever you asked, but I needed you to mark me first so that your allies would see that I was your chosen Luna," she said and I widened my eyes.
"Mark you?"
