I didn't know what was real and what wasn't. I had completely lost my center and my sense focus. The visions of my mate occupied all my thoughts and desires.

When I closed my eyes, all I could see was her, naked, moaning, her skin glowing deliciously, her small breasts bouncing, her ass swaying, her hips moving wildly.

I could imagine her legs spread and her pink, wet pussy welcoming me. The effort I would make to enter her, to penetrate her forcefully, to empty myself completely into her.

I wanted all that and more, and I couldn't get it. The only option was to stay here, with these demons that had drugged me and held me in their hands. I just wanted to see her.

"Randall! Randall!" they yelled at me, trying to wake me up even though I wasn't asleep.

"What's happening?"

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Balthazar asked, approaching me and staring at me intently. What's wrong with this idiot?

"Here I am... what happened?"

"What happened? It's been a day since the king was attacked, and he's missing. We think he's on his way to the castle," the vampire said.

It was true, what I had longed for had happened: the war had begun, and we wanted to test the waters first, but it had been a failure.

"I told you I had to get her..."

"Your mate... that's all you think about. I said we shouldn't let you near her, not even in the visions," the vampire said angrily.

"I can control it..."

"Of course you can't!" the vampire shouted, and now the demons intervened.

"Alpha, we need you to have full control. This is just the beginning, and the king will probably reach his castle and lock himself in," the demons said.

"Our plan has always been to attack the castle," I said.

"Our chances are slimmer now that he has one of us trapped, and besides, they still have her. Even though we distracted her... the human can still beat us," the demons said.

"Tell me what to do. I'll attack anywhere!" I said, standing up, knowing that I was sweaty and agitated.

Mildred really was like a drug to me. Suddenly, one of the demons grabbed me around the neck. His hands felt cold and wet, sending a shiver down my spine.

"You're going to behave and pull yourself together, Alpha. We've captured Asher..." he said, and even as he held me, I couldn't hide my excitement.

"Asher? Leave him to me, I'll kill him!"

"You will do exactly as we say," the demon said, releasing me, and I fell to the ground. I tried to get up, but I couldn't, as if they had a hold on me, controlling me.

"The Renegades have him; they'll get information from him. Maybe we can make a trade..."

"No, not a trade..." I beg.

What have they done to me?

By the time I get to my tent, I am exhausted, and there I meet Ava.

"If you come, so I can help you see your mate... I don't have the strength," she says.

I had tried to have the visions again, but she wasn't lying. She had been completely exhausted for a few days now, as if she had given up her last strength.

"You're useless!" I yell at her and fall down.

"You're getting worse, Randall, I told you."

"Is it the vampire blood? No, it can't be..."

"They're controlling you, and they're getting more and more," she says. I push her to the floor.

"What do I have to do?" I ask her, and now I'm not denying reality. These bastards have me in their hands, and I'm afraid that I have no will of my own.

"You have to stop taking the blood, otherwise our plans will fall apart," she says.

Hell, I need to see my mate and I can't. They've taken me away from her completely...and I'm desperate.

"Where's Jessica?" I ask. Maybe I can spend some time with her and release my desire. Touch her... I can't fuck her, I can't fuck anybody in a damn while. But Ava doesn't answer, and I find that suspicious.

"Where the hell is Jessica?" I ask again, grabbing her by the hair.

"I don't know... I haven't seen her. Maybe Ivan has her," she says, but I don't believe her. I go outside my tent to talk to my Beta.

"I haven't seen her either, Alpha.... do you think she ran away?"

"For heaven's sake, if she escaped, the demons will kill me."

"Alpha Randall... we're waiting for you," the demons said, and I was afraid they had heard me. I signaled my Beta to look for Jessica. They can't know about this.

"Don't you want to see your enemy bound and beaten? This is your moment," the demons said. Taking revenge on Asher was the only thing that gave me control.

All the way through the forest, I felt completely dazed. I pretended to drink the vampire blood and then spit it out without anyone noticing, but my body was affected, and I feared the damage was irreparable.

"Hurry, Randall!" the vampire yelled at me as I felt my strength dwindle.

I saw him dragging Ava as well. Now I believed he saw us both as suspects. This could go very wrong.

"After this... what do we do?" I asked the vampire, trying to distract myself from how bad I felt and also thinking about a possible plan. I felt lost.

"The demons want us to attack the castle. Maybe trading Asher for their brother. He... might have information they don't want known. Maybe kill him or lure the human. We have several plans."

"But they all lead to the castle..." said Ava, and the vampire pulled her arm.

"I don't trust you, demoness... I won't let you out of my sight."

The castle was what I needed, to be closer to Mildred. Ideally I would take her with me, and I swear I would make Asher see it, see us together.

"I need to get my strength back... if you're weak, so am I," Ava whispers to me, and this time I believed her. I tried to concentrate, thinking of my mate and calling my wolf as we sat in the middle of the forest.

"You have a plan in mind...right?" of course she does.

"Let them attack, expose their forces, including Balthazar, and when they do..."

"We stay on the sidelines and emerge victorious," I finished. It was a good idea, she nods.

"Be the last ones standing. I'll take care of my brothers," she said hatefully.

I didn't completely trust Ava, but the plan was logical. Wear down the demons and their allies, let them finish off the king and his friends... and we emerge victorious.

I will prevail, rising in the midst of the war as the only one strong enough to lead.

I didn't know how much time had passed, and sometimes I felt like I was hallucinating, but when I arrived, it was worth it. The renegades had set up a base behind a mountain. I saw extreme security everywhere.

And there was Asher, beaten, bleeding, tied up like a dog. Just as I always wanted, at my disposal. And I had the power, he was doomed.

Even if the demons didn't want it... I was going to kill him. He wouldn't escape, and even if he marked Mildred... I would rip her from his arms. This was his end.

"Finally... you are in my hands."
