Werewolf
Sold by my Alpha, bought by my Mate Chapter 149: Behind the fire
Asher
"The Alpha of the human girl, just the one I was hoping to meet," the demon says in delight as he looks down at me.
Alpha Shum is being beaten, and I've already been taken, tied up, and I'm trying to free myself as best I can. We are done.
"We trusted that we would catch you sooner or later, but I never thought it would be so simple. What a stupid Alpha you are! And I know you managed to elude our allies. But believe me, it won't be that easy with us," the demon whispers.
"Where are you taking me?" I ask as they drag me along, hearing my men still fighting the hybrids and suffering for the losses of my people.
"Let's just say we want to talk to you. After all, there's nothing we want more than the human mate. She will be ours; she's too powerful for a wolf like you. She deserves better use. Maybe we can attract her, while we torture you... it would be like hell" the demon says.
"You will never have her!" I yell, trying to break free.
"We'll see about that," they say, and with their allied wolves, they take me to the other end of one of the entrances where they had attacked earlier.
I knew it was an exceptional place to attack, especially since it was one of the exits closest to my room and, of course, my mate's.
Looking back, I see that they have taken several of my warriors, and there must be multiple battles going on at once. I fear that I gave in too easily, allowing myself to be captured like this. They take us to another part of the castle, where I see an almost unreal scene.
I see a towering fire being created by another demon. My mate was right; I remember her paintings of fire burning everywhere.
"By the goddess..." Shum whispers.
"This isn't right; this isn't supposed to happen. They want us, but they'll undoubtedly kill the rest of our men, Alpha Shum and his people," I say to my wolf.
"We must free ourselves and protect mate! We shouldn't have left her!" Cormac says in my head. I was fricking out, when something unthinkable happens.
Luck seems to be on my side, as the demon suddenly lets out a scream and falls to the ground, clutching his face. The other one seems to suffer the same, and no doubt something has happened to these creatures.
And I seize my moment.
I forcefully begin to untie myself, struggling with the wolfsbane ropes. I fall to the ground, rolling, and find a sharp stone as I try to break the ropes against it.
"Alpha!" Shum yells at me, trying to fend off several of the giant hybrids coming at me. Shum is tie but fights anyway, but despite his efforts, some still come and I try to kick them.
"Come on! Come on!" I say, struggling with the stone on the floor until I feel the bonds loosen.
When I stand up, I am like a storm, kicking up dust and stones and attacking the hybrids with my own hands, destroying them.
"They'll see what happens if they mess with us!" Cormac shouts angrily inside me. Finding myself between a rock and a hard place has given me strength where I have none.
In no time I have Alpha Shum and all of my men freed, when unfortunately I have to order them back.
"You have to go back to the castle to prevent further advances, protect the castle at all costs!" I say desperately, thinking of my mate.
"Take the enemy's weapons!" Shum shouts, and we grab pistols and what appear to be small grenades. I'm not exactly sure what they can do, but something tells me they'll come in handy.
The demons are still affected by whatever happened to weaken them, but I know it's only a matter of time before they turn on us.
The enemy have tried to distract us on all sides, the fire preventing us from seeing anything and at the same time controlling and surrounding the entire area.
"There must be something else here, Cormac, let's stay alert," I say to my wolf.
I use one of the knives we found on the ground to wound the demons, and though I know I haven't killed them, maybe they'll bother them for a few minutes.
"Their own allies didn't even bother to help them! Everyone was in their own part of the battle with their own goals, I have no doubt," I tell Shum. The demons lie motionless on the ground while our men finish beating them.
"So maybe we're gaining an advantage, or at least extending it," Shum says.
"We need to keep moving; something is coming. My wolf is restless."
"Two demons were here. There must be a reason," my friend adds, and I agree as we suddenly see movement on this side of the fire. I'm not entirely surprised to see the Renegades.
I had killed several of them in the forest, and I knew that they were strong but also volatile, as if they had a rage and hatred inside them that they couldn't control.
I truly believed that it was the lack of mates, or at least the rejection of their destined mates, that made them lose control. Every wolf would be affected, no matter what traditions or madness they repeated.
"They must be protecting something! They must be the first advance!" I yell as the pale wolves come at us.
We continue to fight, and when I see them near the fire, I throw a grenade, and it explodes under them, sending them into the fire, and I hear their screams.
"A very useful device, indeed" I think.
"Big Alpha!" Shum shouts at me, gesturing for me to see the group approaching.
Damn...
Randall.
And he wasn't alone, there was a good group of Alphas at his side. They were deformed, they looked extremely strong, and I knew that they had also taken vampire blood. These men were so sick with power that they were capable of anything.
"They want to enter the castle; they're coming for our mate," my wolf tells me, and I'm sure he's right.
"Well, they'll have to get through us first," I answer, and he growls.
"This seems to be the decisive moment, Alpha," Shum says, and I lock eyes with Randall, who has already spotted me.
The fire is expanding, and we have to be careful.
"That's right, my friend, that's right. The strongest Alphas will triumph, and those who don't... let them bathe this land in their blood."
