Sofia's Point of View

I woke up alone in bed. I looked at the clock to see it was seven thirty in the morning. "Ethan," I said as I sat up on the bed. I looked down at his pillow to see a note. I picked it up and began reading it. 

"Happy Birthday, My Love,

I am sorry I wasn't there with you when you woke up, but Mom sent Dad to get me so that we could get some last-minute things done for your party. She said I would be busy until the party so I am sure that means we won't see each other until then. I love you and can't wait to see how beautiful you look in your dress. I can't wait until you see me and feel the full power of the mate bond.

I placed the note on the nightstand by my bed and decided to get up and shower. I was sure Tammie, Stacie, and Ella would show up soon, so it was best to get ready. Once I was done showering, I brushed my teeth and combed out my hair, letting it hang loose. I decided to wear sweatpants and one of Ethan's black T-shirts. I might as well be comfortable since I would be wearing a dress and heels once my party started. Tammie had hired someone to do my hair later on.

Once I was finished getting ready, I headed downstairs. I could smell something delicious and knew the smell was coming from the kitchen. I wasn't surprised when I walked into the kitchen to see Tammie, Stacie, and Ella. Tammie and Stacie were cooking and talking while Ella was sitting at the table texting on her phone. 

"Good morning," I said as I walked into the kitchen.

"Happy eighteenth birthday, Sweetheart," Stacie said as she walked over to me and hugged me. It still felt weird when Stacie would hug me. She treated me the way I always had wanted my mother to treat me. She would always say nice things about me. She would tell me how smart and beautiful I was. She always told me I could do anything I wanted. I always wondered what my life would have been like if Stacie and my dad were the ones who raised me. I was sure my childhood would have been a lot better. I am sure I would have felt loved. 

"Happy Birthday. How are you feeling today?" Tammie asked as Stacie and I pulled away from the hug and I sat next to Ella. 

"I feel fine," I said

"Do you feel any different?" Stacie asked

"Not, really. I feel the same," I said

"Do you feel your any of your senses have heightened, like your hearing or eyesight?"  Tammie asked

"No, not really. Why?" I asked

"Um, no reason. I was just wondering," Tammie said, and I looked at Ella. 

"They are trying to see if your wolf has surfaced," Ella said

"Ella," Tammie said

"She was already suspicious of why you were asking her those questions. Besides, she deserves to know," Ella said. Now, they had me wondering if this meant my wolf would never appear. 

"Don't worry, Sof. I believe your wolf is going to surface the moment you turn eighteen," Ella said

"Why do you think that?" I asked

"I can't explain it. I just have a feeling and everyone knows when I have these types of feelings, I am normally right," Ella said

"Okay, enough of talking about that. Let's eat, and then we have to get ready for your party," Tammie said

"I am so excited. I always wanted a daughter that I could help get ready for these types of things. Now I finally do," Stacie said as she clapped her hands together. I couldn't help but smile at how happy she was. "Why couldn't my mom be more like Stacie?" I thought to myself. I quickly pushed that thought out of my head. I wasn't going to think about anything that made me sad today. It was my eighteenth birthday, and I wasn't going to let anything mess up my day. 

Tammie placed a plate with pancakes, sausage, bacon, and eggs in front of me. "Thank you," I said. I picked up my fork and started to eat. 

"You girls go to Sof's room and we will be back in a few minutes," Tammie said

"Okay," I replied and Ella and I walked to my room. 

"Today is going to be a great day," Ella said. My cell phone started to ring and I looked at it to see my mom was calling. 

"It's my mom," I said before answering the call.

"Hello," I said 

"Sofia, oh I am so happy you answered. I wanted to tell you that I was so sorry for inviting King Lestat to my apartment. I didn't know Ethan was going to be upset. I hope he isn't upset with you," My mom said

"No, he isn't upset with me," I said

"That's good. I was getting ready for your birthday party. Happy eightieth birthday. I can't wait to see you," My mom said and I looked at Ella to see she was looking at me. 

"I didn't know you were still going to come after what happened at your place," I said

"Of course I was going to come. You are my daughter and it is your eighteenth birthday. That is, I am still invited," My mom said. I thought aobut it for a moment. I knew Ethan didn't want her to come because of what happened. I wasn't sure how I felt about her coming. 

"Please, Sofia. I know you are upset but I promise King Lestat only came to talk about your future. He said you are a very smart young lady and after everything he said about you I agree. I feel terrible that I didn't know about all you have done at school. I meant it when I said I wanted a fresh start with you and I hope you are still willing to give me a chance to be your mom. I love you," My mom said. I thought about it for a moment and decided it wouldn't hurt letting her come. 

"Sure, you can still come," I said and Ella started to frown,  letting me know she didn't think it was a good idea. 

"Thanks, Sweetheart. I will see you in a few hours," My mom said. 

"Okay, I have to get ready. I will see you then," I replied

"Okay bye," My mom said

"Bye," I replied before we ended the call.
