Sofia's Point of View

"Everything my mom did was terrible. I asked my mom about my grandparents, and she told me they were dead. It makes me wonder if she lied to me about my father as well," I said 

"There is one more thing I need to tell you, and I don't know how you are going to take it," Tammie said, and I looked at her. "I think Don is your father," Tammie said, and I looked at her with a shocked expression on my face.

"What?" I asked

"I always thought you looked like someone, and even though Tina is your mother, you don't look like her. You look like Don. You have his eye color and hair. I am sure he is your father," Tammie said. Plus it adds up. You are seventeen now almost eighteen. I believe your mom was pregnant with you when she disappeared. It only takes four months for someone to have a baby by a werewolf," Tammie said. 

"Do you think Don knew she was pregnant with me?" I asked. 

"No, I believe she left without telling him. If he knew, he would never have let her take you away from him. You are his daughter," Tammie said. 

"I don't know about that," I said sadly. I was sure my father and his family wouldn't want anything to do with me. If what Tammie was saying was true and Don was my father, that would mean I was a product of rape. My mom drugged him and slept with him without his consent, which meant she basically forced him, and that wasn't okay. Just thinking about it made me feel dirty. 

Ethan put his hand on mine, causing a bunch of pleasurable sparks to go through my arm. 

"Sof, I know he would want to have you in his life. Don is a good man, and he would never blame you for what your mother did to him. You are his daughter, and he will love you no matter what," Tammie said. I didn't believe that, but I decided not to say anything. "The only thing that is confusing me is that Tina smells human now. When she got her powers, she started smelling like a witch. She must be using something to hide her scent from everyone," Tammie said

"That was what I was wondering. Plus, Sof smells like a human. If her mother is a witch and her father is an Alpha, she shouldn't smell like a human. Also, why hasn't she shifted or gotten any powers? It makes no sense," Eric said

"That's true, but I think her mother must have used something to block her scent and powers from coming. I think we should take her to the pack hospital so the doctor can do a blood test to see if Tina was giving her anything," Tammie said, and then she looked at me. "Only if that is okay with you. I don't want you doing anything that might make you uncomfortable," Tammie said, and I looked at Ethan.

"What do you think?" I asked Ethan, and he smiled at me

"It's up to you, but I do think it would be good to see if your mom gave you something to keep your wolf at bay or to mess with your powers. Some things can be very dangerous to your wolf, and the fact that you haven't shifted yet is concerning," Ethan said. I thought about what Ethan said and felt it would be a good idea to see if my mom gave me something that could harm me. I wouldn't put it past her to do something like that. 

"Okay, I will go to the hospital to see if my mom gave me something," I said

"Great! We can head there now. I already got ahold of Sally and she said she will be ready when we get there," Tammie said and we headed toward the Pack Hospital. 

"Are you alright?" Ethan asked. We were at the Pack Hospital, and Dr. Sally had already taken my blood to get the tests started. 

"I am okay. Just a little nervous," I replied truthfully. I had a feeling my mom had given me something so that I wouldn't shift or get my powers. I had never had a wolf before, but I was worried my mom might have harmed it, and I didn't want that to happen. I was also worried I might never get my powers because of her. Dr. Sally had told me that there were some things that could kill someone's wolf or a witch's abilities. Ethan placed my hand on his and smiled at me. 

"Everything is going to be fine, Love," Ethan said, and I hoped he was right.

Suddenly, the door opened, and Dr. Sally walked into the room. Ella, Tammie, and Eric were in the room with us as well. 

"The results are back," Dr. Sally said

"What did you find, Doc?" Ethan asked

"Just as we expected, your mom has been giving you something to hide your abilities. She has been giving you Wolfsroot," Dr. Sally said, and I could tell that everyone was upset. 

"I can't believe Tina could do that. What was she thinking?" Tina said

"What is Wolfsroot?" I asked. I was both confused and worried

"Wolfsroot is a dangerous drug. It not only keeps your wolf and powers at bay, but it is very harmful to your wolf. It could actually kill your wolf," Ethan said. I could hear the anger in his voice. 

"You have a lot of the drug in your system, which tells me that you have been taking it for a very long time. I am sure your mom has been giving it to you since you were a baby. The thing that is worrying me the most is that you aren't living with your mom now, and the herb should be leaving your system, but it's not. Is there anything you have been taking on a regular basis?" Dr. Sally asked

"Not really, no. Besides the insulin I take for my diabetes," I said, and everyone looked at me. 

"You take insulin?" Ella asked

"Yeah, every morning at five," I replied, and everyone had worried looks on their faces. "What's wrong?" I asked

"Werewolves don't get diabetes, Love," Ethan said 

"Do you have the insulin with you?" Dr Sally asked

"Yeah," I said, and I took the insulin out of my purse and gave it to her

"This is not insulin. I am sure it is wolfsroot. I am going to run some tests on it," Sally said. 

"Okay," I replied. 

"I am also going to run an iv for you so that we can wash the wolfsroot out of your system," Sally said

"Do you think her wolf will be fine?" Tammie asked

"I am not sure. We will have to wait and see how much damage the wolfroot has done. She has been taking it for a very long time, so there is a possibility that she might never shift into her wolf."

I felt a pain in my chest, hearing that I might never shift. Ethan wrapped his arms around my shoulder and pulled me to him/. "Everything is going to be okay, Love," Ethan said as he kissed me on the top of my head.
