Sofia's Point of View

"Thank the Goddess, you are alright," Ethan said as he hugged me tightly. He hadn't even noticed Ella or Lacy.

"What's wrong?" I asked

"Jane and Vera got away before we could get them," Ethan said, causing my heart to beat faster than normal.

"How did they get away?" Ella asked

"I can think of a few ways," Lacy said, and Ella glared at her

"They must have realized we were on our way to get them. Don't worry, My Love. We have warriors from our pack, your father's pack, and some of the witch's council members looking for them now. We will find them, and I won't let anything happen to you," Ethan said, and I nodded. "I am going to go to my dad's office so that we can figure out what to do next. I have guards standing outside of the room, so you don't have to worry about anything," Ethan said

"Okay," I said. Ethan kissed my lips softly, and then he left.

"I can't believe they got away," Ella said

"I can. I mean, she was your brother's ex. The woman he thought was going to be his mate. Don't you think it is weird that she got away? She had to have some help," Lacy said

"You know what?" Ella started to say but a growl stopped her from talking. We turned to the front door to see Ethan standing there. His eyes were dark letting me know that his wolf was at the surface. 

"I know you didn't accuse me of helping Jane escape," Ethan said in a commanding voice that sent shivers through me. 

"Um, I was just..." Lacy started to say, but Ella cut her off

"She has been making false accusations about you all night. She even told Sof that you didn't really love her and only started having feelings for her when you felt the mate bond. She said that you really wanted Jane and only lied to Sof because you needed her to accept you or you would become weak," Ella said

"Oh, really?" Ethan asked as he glared at her, and she gulped

"I was just trying to look out for my cousin. I have been hearing some of the Pack Members talking about how they are shocked that Sofia is your mate. They all thought Jane would be your mate because of how in love you two were. A lot of Pack Members are saying you only want Sof because of the mate bond. I am trying to make sure my cousin isn't getting hurt," Lacy said

"Yeah, right. You are trying to come between Sof and Ethan. You always have something bad to say about Ethan and Sofia. You even said that you would have some fun with King Lestat if you were Sof," Ella said, causing Ethan to growl.

"You told my mate to cheat on me?" Ethan said. I was starting to worry that he might hurt Lacy. 

"Ethan," I said 

"You are no longer welcome on my territory," Ethan said

"Ethan, calm down. We need to talk alone," I said. I took Ethan's hand, and we walked to our bedroom. Once we got in our bedroom, I shut the door. "You need to calm down," I said

"How do you expect me to calm down when she is trying to tear us apart," Ethan replied

"I don't think that is what she was trying to do. She has been hearing talk from other pack members, and I think she was worried about me and was just telling her opinion," I said

"Sof, you can't be serious. She basically told you that I only started having feelings for you when I found out we were mates. You don't believe her, do you?" Ethan asked, and I stayed silent. "Sof, do you believe her?" Ethan asked, and I sighed

"I believe that you love me, Ethan, but sometimes I can't help but think about the past. I mean, you were in a relationship with Jane since we were freshmen and you ignored me. You let her say terrible things about me, and you never did anything about it. Sometimes, I wonder if you only want me because of the mate bond. I know that if we weren't together, you would become weak," I said 

"So you think I only want you because of the mate bond?" Ethan asked. I could tell he was hurt by the sound of his voice.

"I believe you love me, Ethan. I just..." I started to say, but he cut me off

"You are worried that she might be right," Ethan said. I stayed silent, but I couldn't help the tears that came to my eyes just thinking about how bad it would be if Lacy were right. Ethan wrapped his arms around me and hugged me tightly. "You have nothing to worry about, Sof. I love you, and I have since I laid eyes on you. You have to believe me. There is no one else I will ever want. You are it for me," Ethan said. Something inside of me was telling me that he wasn't lying. That he meant everything he was saying. I looked him in the eye and connected my lips to his. We kissed until we needed air to breathe. Once we pulled away, I smiled at him.

"I believe you."
