Sofia's Point of View

"Are you going to let him take you to dinner tonight?" Ella asked. We were in her car on our way back to the castle. I was supposed to go with Tammie to the orphanage in about an hour.

"I don't know," I replied

"I think you should go. I think you should give him a chance. You are his mate and he needs you more than you know. He and his wolf need you more than most werewolves need their mate. I mean, he is the soon-to-be king of..." Ella started to say but stopped.

"What do you mean he is the soon-to-be king of what? Of werewolves?" I asked

"I wasn't supposed to say that. It wasn't my place to tell you that," Ella said. 

"Ella, you already started, so you might as well finish telling me," I said

"Okay, my dad is the werewolf King, which means he is the ruler of all werewolves, and Ethan will be king once my dad steps down. The more powerful the werewolf, the stronger the mate bond. Ethan and his wolf are having a hard time being without you. The longer the two of you are not together, the weaker he will become. His wolf is already weakening because you two haven't completed the mating process. Normally, a werewolf marks and mates with their mate as soon as they meet," Ella said.  Ella knew I loved reading werewolf romance novels and that I knew what she was talking about. 

"I will go to dinner with him, but I am not going to jump into bed with him and let him mark me," I said. I didn't want him to want to be with me because of some mate bond. I wanted him to want me because he really wanted me. I knew I was in love with him, but I wasn't sure if he was really in love with me. He could have told me that because of the bond. 

"There you are, sweetheart. We had to leave early to stop at one of the pack members' houses. Do you want me to come back and get you before I go to the orphanage, or would you like to come with me now?" Tammie asked

"I will go with you now. Let me put my things in my room real quick," I said.

"Are you okay, sweetheart? I can tell something is on your mind," Tammie said. We had just left one of the pack members houses who actually went to school with me. Her name was Jill, and she was eighteen. Apparently, her mate cheated on her, and that caused her pain. He had sex with another woman, and that caused her to feel pain. I guess most of the things I read about werewolves were accurate. 

"I don't understand why someone would cheat on their soulmate. I have read a lot of werewolf novels, and in some of them, the mate cheats, and that causes the other one excruciating pain, just like Jill went through. i guess i was hoping a mate wouldn't cheat in real life. I mean, they are meant to be with each other," I said

"I know, sweetheart. What Ken did was wrong. I don't know what he was thinking. I will tell you that it's very rare for a mate to cheat," Tammie said.

I thought about what Tammie said. It was rare, but obviously, it did happen. It happened to Jill. It made me wonder if Ethan would cheat on me. I know I was not the mate he was expecting, so would he want to sleep with another woman like Jane if I accepted him as my mate? Just thinking about him sleeping with Jane or anyone else sent a pain in my chest. 

It took us about ten minutes to get to the orphanage, which made me smile. I loved kids and was happy I would spend time with them. When we walked inside, I was shocked to see Ethan talking to one of the ladies who worked there. He looked at me and smiled. 

"Ethan, this is a surprise," Tammie said as she hugged him. 

"I thought spending time with the kids would be a good idea. You are always asking me to come with you when you come here," Ethan said

"Yeah but you always say you don't have time," Tammie said

"Well, I have time today," Ethan said, and then he looked at me with a smile. 

"I see," Tammie said as she looked at me and then back at Ethan. 

"I am so happy that all of you could spend time with the pups. I know they are going to be so excited to see the Future Alpha and Future Luna today," One of the ladies said. Everyone had been calling me the future Luna, and I still wasn't used to it. I wasn't sure I could be a Luna, and now I had learned from Ella that I was the future Luna Queen. I had so much going on in my mind.
