Ella's Point of View

"You don't have to worry. Ethan and I will never let that happen."

"What about Sof? You know hates that we are keeping this from Ella. What if she tells her?" My mom said. I was confused about what they were talking about. All I knew was that everyone was hiding something from me.

"We don't have to worry about Sofia. She wants what's best for Ella, just like we do. She knows that the best thing is for Ella to never find out that King Edward is her Mate," my dad said

"What about King Edward? I don't think he will be able to stay away for much longer. He is a Vampire, and from what we know about vampires, the Mate bond is stronger for them," my mom said

"King Edward would never come back. He was the one who came up with the idea of staying away from Ella. We have nothing to worry about," My dad said

"I hope you are right," My mom said as my dad hugged her.

I couldn't believe what I had just heard. I didn't know what to do. I needed to think. I quietly walked away from the kitchen and to my room. When I got to my room, I locked my door and sat on my bed. All I could think about was what I heard my parents talking about. They said that Edward, the Vampire King, was my mate. I didn't understand how that was possible. I didn't know King Edward. I had never met him before. They said that everyone knew and was keeping it from me. I needed to figure out what was going on.

About twenty minutes later, there was a knock on my door. I got up and opened it to see that Sofia was there.

"I was wondering what happened to you. Why did you leave the party? Are you okay?" Sof asked

"Is King Edward my mate?" I asked quickly, and Sofia looked at me with a shocked expression on her face.

"What did you say?" Sof asked

"You heard me. I heard my parents talking in the kitchen about how you all know that we are mates. You are my best friend. I need you to tell me the truth," I said. Sof closed the door and walked over to sit on my bed.

"Yes, he is your mate," Sof said

"I need to know everything."

"Ella, I..."

"You are my best friend. Please tell me the truth. I know you feel bad for keeping this from me," I said and Sof sighed

"Okay, I will tell you the truth. King Edward is your mate," Sof said

"How is that possible? Why don't I remember?" I asked

"Because a witch made you forget," Sof said

"Why would a witch do that?" Then I thought about what my parents had said. They said that King Edward chose this.

"I get it. King Edward didn't want me because I am a werewolf," I said. Before Sof could reply, there was a knock on my door. I walked over to get it to see My mom, dad, and Ethan standing at the door with EJ and Hope.

"There you two are. What's wrong, Ella? You look upset," My mom asked worriedly. Sof was about to speak but I spoke first.

"I am fine, Mom. I just came up here to get EJ and Hope's gifts. I forgot to bring them down with me earlier," I replied

"Are you sure?" My mom asked

"Yes, I promise I am fine," I replied

"We should get back down to the party," Ethan said

"Okay, Sof and I will meet you all back down. I wanted to show Sof what I got them," I said

"Alright," My mom said, and they left. As soon as they were gone, I closed my door and looked at Sof. "You need to tell me everything. You know I deserve to know the truth. I said

"I know. I will tell you everything after the party," Sof said

"No, I want to know now," I said, and Sof looked at me for a moment before replying

"Okay, I will tell you everything. I already told you that King Edward is your mate." Sof told me about how I met King Edward. She told me that it took a while for me to trust him, but soon I did. I listened to her without interruption. Once she was finished, I felt like she was keeping something from me. I was sure she was.

"I know that isn't it, Sof. What are you hiding from me?" I asked

"Why do you think I am hiding something from you?" Sof replied

"Because you said King Edward is my mate, and we were getting along. If we were getting along, why did he leave? Not only that, but why did he and everyone else go through the trouble of making me forget? Please tell me the truth," I said

"You are right. The reason everyone did this is that when you were born, you were not well. You actually died," Sof said

"What do you mean?" I asked, and that was when Sof told me about how I stopped breathing, and some warlock came to my parents and told them that he could bring me back. Not only that, but I also had magic in me. I had good magic but I also had evil magic.

"That is why he left, Ella. He was worried that if he stayed, you would become evil. He said that he had done a lot of terrible things and was afraid that if you two stayed together, you would become evil because of him," Sof said. I was silent for a moment after she finished speaking. I felt so many different emotions. I was angry that my mate would leave me, but at the same time, I felt lucky to have a mate like that. One that would put my needs first. He left because he thought it would save me from becoming evil. I also felt confused how I could be mated to a vampire? One thing I decided was that I was going to get to the bottom of all of this.

"I am so sorry for keeping this from you, Ella. I was against all of this. I didn't think it was right for them to keep this from you. I hope you can forgive me," Sof said. I could tell she felt bad.

"I know that, Sof. I know you didn't want to keep this from me. I need your help with something," I said

"What?"

"I am going to go see King Edward. I need you to keep this a secret from everyone."
