Sofia's Point of View

"So, did Layla say anything to you?" Eric asked and I started to tell him everything she had told me so far. I could tell everyone was upset by what I was saying by their facial expressions. 

"I can't believe he got away with this for so long. Someone should have come forward and said something," Tammie said

"She said they were scared. Alpha Thomas threatened everyone and said that if they said anything, he would kill them," I said

"Still, someone should have spoken up. Even if they called in anonymously," Tammie said

"I think everyone was too afraid to say anything. They knew what would happen if anyone found out they said something," I said

"The good thing is that she spoke with Sofia and Ella. It shows that she trusts and feels comfortable with them," Tammie said

"Hopefully, soon, she will be comfortable with Jason. He is her mate and I know he feels terrible that she doesn't trust him," Stacie said

"They are actually talking now," I said 

"Really," Stacie asked

"Yeah, he asked if he could speak to her and she agreed. That is a good sign," I said

"Yes, it is," Stacie said

"I have a feeling Jason will be able to gain her trust. Jason is a good guy. I am sure he will show her that not all men are like the ones at the Shadow Pack. I know she is afraid because Jason has Alpha blood in his system. She hasn't had the best experience with High Rank men. He just needs to show her not all of them are that way," IU said

"I am sure Jason will do that. You are right. He is a good person," Stacie said with a smile

"I think we all should rest. It's late. Ethan, I will need you to be ready early in the morning. Tomorrow is Jane and Linda's trial. The council will be here for it," Eric said

"I will be up. I don't even know why we are having a trial. We should just get to their punishments," Ethan said. I already knew what he was planning on doing with them. I knew Ethan wanted to kill them both. I know they had done a lot to me but I still didn't want them to die. I was going to talk to Ethan about it once we were in our room. 

"You know that is how things have always been done, son," Eric said

"Yeah, but I think it's time for a change," Ethan said

"Well, you will be the Werewolf King soon. You will be able to make those changes. To be honest, I agree with you," Eric said

"Today has been a long day," Ethan said as he walked into the kitchen. He had just taken a shower and only was wearing a pair of black basketball shorts. 

"Yes, it has," I said as I stirred the spaghetti. 

"That smells amazing, My Love," Ethan said as he wrapped his arms around me from behind.

"Thanks," I said 

Ethan got the plates out of the cabinet, and I started plating our food, and we walked over to the dining room to eat. 

"So, tomorrow is the trial for Jane and Linda," I said 

"Yep, I honestly don't know why we are having a trial. We already know they are guilty, and they will be punished severely," Ethan said, and I looked at him. 

"So, by severely, I am assuming you mean death," I said

"You assume right," Ethan said after a moment of silence. We just stared into each other's eyes for a moment, and then I looked down at my plate. "What's wrong, My Love? I can tell something is bothering you," Ethan said

"I don't know," I said and sighed. "I just feel like maybe we can punish them differently," I said

"What do you mean?" Ethan asked

"I don't think we have to kill them," I said

"Sofia, I know you have a great heart, and that is one of the reasons I fell in love with you but we can't let them live," Ethan said

"We could just make them rogues," I said

"I am afraid that won't be enough, My Love," Ethan said

"But if they are rogues, they won't be allowed in the Pack anymore," I said

"Do you really think that would stop them? Jane and Linda have it out for you. I am sure they won't stop until they kill you, and there is no way I am going to let that happen. I am not going to risk your life for theirs. The only way I can make sure you are safe from them is if I kill them," Ethan said. I knew he was right, but I hated knowing that someone had to die. I felt I was to blame for what had to happen. Ethan put his hand on mine, and I looked at him. "I know you wish there was another way. I do too, but there's not. This is the only option," Ethan said 

"I know," I said, but I didn't like it.
