Forbidden Fruit: Mated To My Sister's Best Friend Chapter 116
Ethan's Point of View
“Fine, what do you want to know?” The man said
“First, I would like to know your name?" My dad asked
"My name is Joe," The man said
"And I can see that you are one of the warriors here," My dad said
"Yes, I am one of the Head Warriors," Joe said with a smile on his face. My dad turned to look at the young woman who didn't seem to be that much older than me. The little girl was sitting on her lap, and her hands wrapped around her protectively.
"And what is your name," My dad said to the young woman.
"Layla."
"Well, hello, Layla. Is that your daughter?" My dad asked, and she shook her head, letting us know the girl wasn't her daughter. "She is my little sister," Layla said
"Are your parents here?" My dad asked
"No, they died almost a year ago. I am the only family she has left," Layla said. I could hear the sadness in her voice and could tell she missed her parents terribly.
"I am sorry to hear that, Layla," I said, and Joe rolled his eyes.
"I take care of them," Joe said, causing my dad and I to look at him
"Right, and who are you to her?" my dad asked
"We are together," Joe said
"So, you are her fated mate?" My dad asked
"No, we are going to be chosen mates," Joe said
"How old are you, Layla?" My dad asked
"I just turned eighteen two days ago," Layla said
"You don't want to wait to find your mate?" My dad asked. Before she could speak, Joe spoke.
"No, we both decided that we wanted to be together. We are in love with each other. I rejected my mate because she was weak," Joe said. I looked at Layla and saw that she was staring at the floor. I was sure she was afraid to speak in front of Joe. I knew she didn't want to be there.
"And how old are you, Joe? You seem older than Layla," My dad asked
"I am twenty-three," Joe
"Hmm, I need you to show me around the house, Joe," My dad said as he stood up off the couch. Joe's gaze went to Layla, whose head was still down.
"We can all look around the house. I don't want to leave Layla alone. She is very shy," Joe said
"She will be fine. Come on. I need to know everything that needs to be done," My dad said as they walked away.
"Layla, is there anything you want to tell me about this Pack? Anything you want to tell me about Joe," I asked.
Um, no. The Pack is great. Joe is great," Layla said, but I could tell she wasn't being truthful.
"Look, Layla. I know you are afraid to speak to me. I can tell, but I am here to help," I said and then I looked at the little girl that was sitting on her lap. "What is your sisters name?" I asked
"Her name is Britney," Layla said
"How old is she?" I asked
"She will be three next month," Layla said
"I can tell you care for your little sister. I am sure you want her to live a happy life. I can't make sure that happens if you don't talk to me," I said and Layla looked at the floor.
"I can't say anything," Layla whispered
"You don't have to speak. Just shake your head yes or no. Do you want to be with Joe?" I asked and Layla shook her head, letting me know she didn't want to be with him. "Is he keeping you here against your will?" I asked and she nodded letting me know he was.
"That's all I need to know."

Sofia's Point of View
"I am ready to go home," Ella said once she got to my locker.
"So am I but I have to go to Mr. King's class for the test," I said
"How about after the test we cut out?" Ella said. I thought about what she was saying and thought it might be a good idea. I wasn't in a good mood because I was still tired and missed Ethan.
"That sounds like a good idea," I said
"Really," Ella asked me with a shocked expression on her face.
"What seems like a good idea?" Jason asked as he walked over to us
"Your sister is agreeing to leave school after she takes her class. I never thought this day would come," Ella said, still looking shocked
"Well, I am not leaving you. Not with everything that's happening so I guess I am skpping to," Jason said
"Let's get this test over with first," I said and we headed to Mr. King's class. When we got inside Mr. King looked at me and immediatly started to smile.
"He is so creepy," Ella said as we got to our seats.
"Sofia, can I speak to you for a moment," Mr. King said and I walked over to his desk
"I wanted to talk to you about an opportunity that came up. There is this scholarship that one of my good friends have created. I think you have a good chance to win. It is for five thousand dollars," Mr. King said
"Thank you, Mr. King," I said
"I was hoping we could talk about it more later on. Maybe at the coffee shop after school," Mr. King said causing me to frown.
"I don't think that's a good idea," I replied
"I know you are worried about your mate but I am sure he woudl understand it's for school," Mr. King said.
"I am sorry, Mr. King but I have to decline coffee," I said and Mr. King's eyes turned red for a moment before turning back to their normal color
"That's alright. I sitll think you should consider the scholarship. Maybe will can talk about it some other time. You should head back to your seat," Mr. King said
"What was that about?" Ella asked
"I don't know," I replied. Whatever it was I didn't like it. I was starting to realize that Ethan might be right about Mr. King.
