Forbidden Fruit: Mated To My Sister's Best Friend Chapter 235
Edward's Point of View
"I was so happy that she agreed to come back with me to my kingdom. Well, our kingdom. She was my queen, even if she was worried that the others wouldn't accept her. She might be a werewolf, but she was my beloved. The one who was made for me. The only one I would ever want and need.
I wasn't a fool. I knew there would be some who would be upset that Ella was their queen. Some that I was sure would try to cause trouble for the both of us. I fucked up and let Malissa harm my mate. I didn't even see that it was coming. But that would never happen again. I was so close to losing Ella, and because of that, my head was on straight now. I knew I had to keep her safe. No one would ever touch her again.
It still amazes me how happy Ella made me. After what happened to my parents, I never wanted a beloved. I saw them as a weakness. Now, I would die for Ella. I lived for her. I knew I wouldn't be able to live without her, and instead of being afraid, I was happy. I was the happiest I had ever been.
After dinner, Ella and I went for a walk. We didn't talk about all the important things that were going on like Ava and Queen Gina. We talked about the little things. I wanted to know what she liked. What made her happy, so I asked her questions, and she did the same. I loved the way she didn't move away from me when I wrapped my arms around her shoulder. She was comfortable with me. She trusted me, and that was the best feeling, knowing that she had come to trust me.
"I don't want to go back tonight," Ella said. We were on the beach just looking out at the ocean.
"We don't have to if you don't want to. How about we stay at a hotel tonight?" I said. I thought she was going to refuse, but she didn't.
"Okay, that sounds like a good idea," Ella said with a smile. I smiled back at her as I looked into her ocean blue eyes. They were the most beautiful eyes in the world. I could look at them forever, and that was what I planned to do. I took her hand and we headed back to my car. I drove us to a hotel and checked in.
That night, we didn't do anything but talk. I held her in my arms as she slept with her head on my chest. My cell rang and I looked at it to see that Ethan was calling. I was worried he might wonder where Ella was, so I got out of bed so I wouldn't disrupt Ella's sleep and answered it.
"Yes," I said
"Is Ella with you?" Ethan asked
"Yes, we are at a hotel. And before you try to trip, it was her idea. She needed a break from everything that was going on, so we ended up going to a hotel for the night," I said. I didn't know why I was explaining shit to him. I didn't have to. Ella was my beloved, and we could be together whenever we wanted. The only answer was that I didn't want to have a strained relationship with her family because I knew she cared about them and would want them to be in her life. I had changed a lot in just the little time that I had met Ella. I thought he would be upset and we would get into an argument, but he shocked me with what he said next.
"That's good."
"Really? You are not upset that I took your sister to a hotel?" I asked, shocked. This was not the reaction I thought I was going to get.
"I know she is safe with you," Ethan replied. That was when I realized something must be wrong
"What happened?" I asked
"Queen Gina got away."
"What? How could that have happened?" I asked. There was no way she should have gotten away. We had both vampire and werewolf warriors guarding her. Not only that but there was a spell put on the room so she wouldn't be able to use her magic to escape.
"I don't know, but someone must have helped her escape. One of the guards was killed as well," Ethan said
"We have to find her and whoever is helping her," I said.
"I know. Just take care of Ella tonight. Keep her safe."
"You know I will," I replied. We ended the call, and I went back into the room with Ella. I held her close and watched her sleep. I knew I wasn't going to get any sleep. All I could think about was finding Queen Gina and whoever was helping her. When I did, they all would pay with their lives.
