Forbidden Fruit: Mated To My Sister's Best Friend Chapter 59
Sofia's Point of View
"So, how long have you been living in the castle?" Stacy asked me while Eric, Don, and my brothers went to get some chairs. I was sitting in the same spot on the couch, with Ethan and Ella sitting on each side of me. My grandparents were sitting on the loveseat. Lacy, Tammie, and Stacy were sitting on the couch across from where I was sitting.
"A little over a month ago," I said as Eric, Don, and my brothers walked back into the room with chairs in their hands.
"She moved in on my eighteenth birthday," Ethan said
"And Tina was okay with you moving out," Nana asked, and I looked at Ethan. I didn't know how to answer their questions
"Tina actually abandoned Sofia the day she moved in," Ethan said
"What?" Don asked. I could tell by his facial expression that he was angry
"How could she do that? She is your mother," Papaw asked, just as angry.
"Well, Tina wasn't the best mother toward Sofia's. Sofia has been going to Eclipse Academy since she was in fifth grade, and her mother never came to the school to meet me or any of her teachers. Sof has always done well in school, and I didn't understand why her mom never had the time to come and meet with me to talk about Sof. That was one of the reasons I didn't know Tina was Sof's mom. I hadn't met her until the other day when we ran into her at the mall. On Ethan and Ella's birthday, Ella asked Eric and me if Sof could move in because her mom had left her, saying she was moving in with her boyfriend. The apartment had no hot water or heat, and they were about to be evicted. Eric and I said she could move in, and that's when Ethan found out Sof was his mate" Tammie said
"It's horrible that your mom would leave you like she did" Stacy said
"I agree. I also can't believe Tina would keep us away from you just to treat you badly. I want you to know that if I had known about you, I would have taken care of you. I feel like this is my fault. Maybe, if I didn't react the way I did after everything that happened, she wouldn't have left and taken you away from me," Don said. I could tell by his facial expression that he was blaming himself, and I didn't want that.
"It wasn't your fault, Don. What my mom did to you was terrible. I understand why you reacted the way you did after what happened. She was wrong for keeping me away from you and your family. You had every right to know about me. My mom is responsible for her decisions and no one else," I said
"Sofia is right. None of this is your fault," Ethan said
"Thanks for saying that but I still feel like I am partly to blame," Don said
"So do I. I know I spoiled her rotten but we also taught her right from wrong," Papaw said
"Even though Tina was wrong for what she did, we would like to see her. She is still our daughter, and we haven't seen her since she left all those years ago. I hope you are okay with that," Nanaw said, looking at me
"Of course. She is your daughter," I replied. I understood why they wanted to see my mom. They raised her since she was a baby. She was their child, and they had been worried sick about where she was for a very long time.
"Thanks for understanding, Honey. I promised when I see her, I am going to have a long talk with her. Hopefully I can get her straight," Nanaw said
"I know we have some other thing to talk about, but we can do that later. I am sure all of you would like to rest from your long trip. I will have some of the maids take you to your rooms," Tammie said
"Thank you. That would be great," Stacy said
"I also want you to know that you can stay here as long as you want. We are all family now, after all," Eric said
"Thanks. We all would like to stay for a while so that I can get to know my daughter. If that is okay with you, Sofia," Don said
"I would like that," I replied with a smile. Then, they left with the maids to find their rooms.
"That went great," Ethan said
"Yeah, It went way better than I thought it would," I replied.
"What do you think your mom is going to do when your grandparents show up?" Ella asked
"I don't know but I am sure she is going to be shocked to see them," I replied.
