Ethan's Point of View

"I already told you that I didn't have anything to do with what Jane did," Beta Kane said. My dad and I had already interrogated Linda, and she also denied knowing anything about what Jane had done. Linda had been crying the entire time she spoke to us. She told us that she was ashamed of Jane's actions. 

"So you didn't know about the secret room or what she planned to do to my mate?" I asked

"No. I would have stopped her if I knew what she was up to. I knew she was in love with you and thought you would be her mate. I saw that she was upset when you didn't end up her mate, but I thought she would get over it. I didn't know she was obsessed with you," Beta Kane said, and then he sighed. "I blame myself. I thought you two would be mates. Everyone in the pack thought that. I wish everyone didn't put it in her head that you two were meant for each other. Maybe then she wouldn't have done the things she did. I have known you since we were pups, Alpha Eric. You know me, and you know I would never betray you," Beta Kane said. I could tell he was sincere, but I was sure he didn't know what his daughter was up to. I could tell he was angry and hurt about what Jane had done. I could also see that he blamed himself for her actions. 

"What do you think?" I asked my dad once we left the interrogation room.

"I believe Beta Kane is telling the truth. I mean, I used my alpha command and asked them if they knew what Jane was planning, and they all answered no. They wouldn't have been able to fight the Alpha command, so they have to be telling the truth," My dad said

"I know you are right, but I still feel that Linda might be hiding something," I said 

"It's impossible for her to fight my command so how can she be hiding anything?" My dad asked

"I don't know, but I have a feeling she is. Maybe the witch Jane is working with gave her something to fight the command," I said

"I guess that is a possibility, especially since Tabatha said the witch is very powerful. We should go and speak to her again," my dad said, and we headed to the interrogation room where Linda was. When we walked inside, she still had tears in her eyes. My dad and I sat across from her at the table. 

"Hello, Linda. We wanted to speak to you again. Just to see if you have thought of anything else that might be helpful," My dad said

"No. I told you everything thing. I didn't know what Jane was up to. I feel so ashamed about what she did. I can't believe she would embarrass our family like that."

"Well, that was a waste of time. Linda's story didn't change," my dad said. We had left the interrogation room and headed to my father's office to talk. Sof had been discharged about an hour ago when I was speaking to Linda, so my mom took her back to the castle. I told my mom to take her to her and my dad's floor and not to leave her alone. 

"I still think she is hiding something," I said

"So do I, but I have a plan. We are going to let them go but keep an eye on Linda. If she is hiding something, we will find out what it is. She might even lead us to where Jane is hiding," my dad said. I thought about it for a while and felt it was a good idea. 

"That sounds like a good idea," I said

"So, has Sofia made up her mind about moving in with you or not?" My dad asked

"No, she is still worried that I will go back to being the way I was with her. I feel so stupid, Dad. I never should have acted the way I did toward her. I thought I was making the right decision, but in the end, I hurt myself and my mate," I said 

"It isn't all your fault, son. Beta Kane was right when he said everyone in the pack put it in Jane's and your heads you would be mates. If we hadn't done that, you wouldn't have thought  you would have to push the girl you truly loved away," My dad said

"It's not your fault, Dad. I knew I never loved Jane, but I tried to make myself love her because I thought she was going to become my mate. I made those decisions, not you. But I plan on making everything up to Sofia. I want to show her the floor that you and I fixed up for when I met my mate. Maybe that will show Sof that I am being sincere about how I feel about her," I said 

"I think that's a good idea, son. You go check on your mate, and I will set everything up for Linda," My dad said

"Thanks, Dad," I said, and I got up to walk out of his office.

"Wait, son. There is one more thing we need to talk about," My dad said, and I looked at him. "Sof is half witch and half werewolf. We need to talk to her about that. She has never trained before, and I feel it would be good for her to start now since she might shift now that the drug is out of her system.  You should also ask her if she would like to meet her father. I think it would be a good idea to tell Don that he has a daughter, but I want to make sure Sof will be okay with that," My dad said

"I will talk to her about the training and telling her father about her, but I want it to be her choice to tell Alpha Don about her," I replied. I wasn't going to do anything that would make Sof uncomfortable.

"I agree," My dad said, and I left his office and headed up to my parents' floor to see Sofia.
