Sofia's Point of View

I couldn't believe how frightened Layla was. She looked like she was going to pass out in fear. She really thought I would hurt her because she ran away from Jason.

"Layla, you need to calm down. No one is going to hurt you, okay?" I said softly

"But I ran away from your brother," Layla said

"Yeah, but that doesn't mean you deserve to be punished. You have a right to make your own decisions," I said with a smile, and Layla seemed to calm down a little. "I will tell you that Jason is a good man. He will treat you right," I said

"But he has Alpha Blood in his system," Layla said

"So," I replied

"They can do whatever they want. All of the high-ranked werewolves get what they want," Layla said

"Not all High Rank werewolves are like that, Layla. My dad is the Alpha King and he would never harm my mom or anyone else. He would never make a woman do anything they don't want to do, and he is the highest ranked werewolf," Ella said

"In the Midnight Pack, all the High Rank wolves do what they want. Alpha Thomas would punish anyone who didn't follow their directions. We weren't allowed to say no," Layla said

"Is that why you were with the warrior?" I asked, and she nodded her head. 

"I didn't want to be with Joe, but he chose me, so Alpha Thomas told me I had to be with him.  I am happy King Eric and Prince Ethan came when they did," Layla said

"Why is that?" Ella asked

"I was supposed to become fully mated to Joe two days from now," Layla said

"So you two have never had sex," I asked.

"Not fully, no. But he has done other things to me," Layla said, and she looked at her hands nervously. I could tell she wasn't comfortable talking about what he had done to her.

"It's fine, Layla. You don't have to tell me what he did to you. I understand if you don't want to talk about it," I said, and Layla looked at me.

"Thank you," Layla said. I could see tears in her eyes, and that made me feel sad and angry about what happened to her. 

"So, I take it you are not the only member from the Midnight pack who was forced to be with someone else," Ella asked.

"If one of the higher-ranked Pack Members says they want to be with someone of a lower rank than them, Alpha Thomas will make it happen. It normally only happens with the females, but it has happened to some of the men as well," Layla said

"That's terrible," Ella said

"Why didn't anyone tell someone about what was happening?" I asked

"Alpha Thomas said if anyone spoke about what he was doing, he would kill them. I thought something would have been done when the old beta's daughter was forced to marry the alpha's son, but all they did was stop the wedding and let the Beta family leave. After that, we all knew no one would come and save us," Layla said

"I am sorry you had to go through all of that, Layla. I know the reason you are afraid to be with Jason is because of what happened to you, but I want you to know that Jason isn't like Alpha Thomas. I hope you will give him a chance," I said

"I want to give him a chance. I am just scared," Layla said. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, and Layla became tense. I went over to open the door and saw Jason  and Nick standing there. I walked out of the room and closed the door. 

"What are you doing here? I told you I was going to speak to her," I said

"I tried to stop him," Nick said

"I just really want to make sure she is okay. I need to speak to her," Jason said. I was about to respond but Layla spoke. 

"It's okay, Luna Sofia. I will speak to him," Layla said

"It's Sofia. Remember, and are you sure you are comfortable speaking to him?" I asked

"Yes, but I don't feel comfortable speaking to you in my room," Layla said as her eyes went to Jason's

"That's fine, we can talk out here," Jason said

"Okay, I will check on you later," I said 

"Okay, thank you," Layla said, and I smiled at her before Ella and I left. I only hoped that Jason would be able to gain her trust.

"I can't believe Alpha Thomas did that and got away with it as long as he did. He doesn't deserve to be an Alpha," Ella said

"I agree. I am happy Eric took his title from him," I replied as we walked back to Eric's office. I frowned when I saw Amy sitting next to Ethan on the couch. She was saying something to him, but he was barely paying attention to her. I had almost forgotten about her. When I walked into the office, Ethan's eyes went to mine, and a smile came to his face. 

Ethan walked over to me and pulled my body to his.
