Claudia was running low on both vitality and mental fortitude so the moment Hao Xuan pulled back his hand and cut off the supply of soul power she fell back into a deep sleep.

With some effort he closed off the lid and stood on top of the coffin as it circled the whirlpool, taking on the yellow waters.

Despite all the preparations he had made beforehand, Hao Xuan could not help but let the nerves get the better of him. His heart was in his chest as he looked down at the turbulent waters of time.

There was no telling what could happen and certainly no shortage of the things that could go terribly wrong.

With his gaze still fixated on the river of time Hao Xuan took a deep breath, "Ready?"

"Are you?" Hyde asked with no small amount of uncertainty.

"I am, you know what to do?"

"Yes. I will act as a tether and will keep trying to pull you back out until you find the right place and time. But the moment you jump in 'they' will also become aware of your existence and will come after you. The longer you stay inside the worse it will get, I will not be able to keep them back for too long."

"I know, don't worry. It will be fine, I can handle it."

Or so he said but he knew the longer he thought about it the worse of an idea it would seem so...Hao Xuan closed his eyes and dove headfirst into the yellow river without wasting any more time.

The first sensation he felt was the frozen temperature piercing through his entire being in one go. And despite his many preparations, he couldn't help but let out a loud gasp and swallow a mouthful of the water as it sizzled and boiled against his skin while sinking deeper.

His consciousness immediately faded while his soul, as stupendously powerfully as it was, was effortlessly pulled into a suitable empty host within that current.

Mr. Hyde immediately extended both hands sending out an army of green spiritual threads that pulled his head above the water.

"Can you hear me?!" he shouted apprehensively after seeing the blank look on his face and thinking the worst had come to pass but Hao Xuan responded a second later.

"I...can...I did..." he already looked exhausted with just one dive and it seemed just staying afloat took all the energy out of him.

"What did you see? Was this the right one?!"

"83 years...I lived for 83 years and only remembered the truth at the end. This was not the right place or the right time. We need...to try a different current," Hao Xuan explained through shallow breaths.

"Okay over her-" Hyde's attention was suddenly pulled downstream where he could see some splashing in the distance.

"Quickly!" he urged forcing Hao Xuan to swim to the side and take another dive.

This time Hyde pulled him out the instant his body was fully submerged.

"64 years! Argh!" Hao Xuan let out a painful scream as some blood came out of his nose, "Closer to the right time but a very bad place."

Hyde floated to the side, "This one next!"

Hao Xuan shook his head trying to get some feeling back but inadvertently splashed his blood all over the river. He swam to the side and dove down briefly.

"AGH! FUCK! 71 years in a terrible place....bad all around. A-Another one!"

This process lasted for the next few minutes and after every dive he came out bleeding from one orifice or another. It took 23 different dives before he managed to lock down a time and a place that was the closest to where he needed to be.

Unfortunately not only was he utterly exhausted by now but 'time' was also running out as Mr. Hyde realized far too late.

He was so busy looking ahead that he forgot about the back. After pulling Hao Xuan out of the 23rd dive his attention was pulled upstream where a shadow was moving under the waters of time.

It was big enough to extend far beyond his vision while already surrounding them for the most part.

His voice fell, "Did you find it?"

Hao Xuan bobbed his head up and down, "Y-Yeah! Last one, it should be this one in the back!" he pointed upstream, where the shadow was darkest.

He couldn't see the shadow from his position but to Mr. Hyde, it was as clear as day. If they moved any closer they would be right on top of it.

"Are you sure?" he asked again.

"Almost definitely," Hao Xuan answered, "It will be quick, I just need to catch a glimpse."

"Okay, let's go."

Mr. Hyde helped guide him to the current he needed to be in and Hao Xuan went down without wasting a second.

Unfortunately, this dive lasted a lot longer, almost 10 whole seconds before he was jerked out.

"AAAAARGH! Why did you wait so- long..." Hao Xuan began yelling at him but when he looked up the rest of the words got stuck in his throat.
