Hao Xuan lowered him back on top of the staircase and loosened his grip, releasing the rodent-like man into the maze.

Without wasting a second his beady little eyes began to swivel back and forth looking for an opportunity to escape.

"I wouldn't suggest that...this city is only so big. Why spend the rest of your days wondering what's waiting for you around the corner when you can make an ally with a little bit of effort?" Hao Xuan reiterated, "And what's this?"

Luz turned around to see him holding an old handkerchief. It was rather worn out with some stains on both sides but the material it was made of could not have been easy to come by in this place. Not to mention the small insignia of some beast in the corner that made it look quite fancy.

Hao Xuan had only taken it as a show of force but Luz's reaction was not one he expected.

Putting that aside he quickly went down the list to see most of the prices unchanged.

'Beast charmer?' Hao Xuan glanced at Luz's beastial features, 'It should work on him since he is a half-breed. Purchase!'

His favor fell to 185,221 in an instant but the 'listing' did not disappear, instead, the price increased to 8,000 with the option to 'Bless' it further.

He was in a hurry so Hao Xuan enhanced the ability several times, reducing his total favor to 144,221 in an instant. When he blinked again his senses returned to normal and numbers vanished, leaving him with a warm feeling inside and out.

Hao Xuan folded the handkerchief and handed it back respectfully, "Of course, I was never going to keep it, friend," he said smilingly.

Luz accepted it with both hands and gently placed it back into his shirt pocket. One would think it was a family heirloom instead of some random cloth with how careful he was being.

"Come, stand up," he helped Luz back to his feet, even going as far as to wipe the tears from his eyes, "With this we are now comrades!" he said patting him on the shoulder.

Luz looked up at him in a mixture of confusion which melted into concealed joy, "W-We are?"

"Of course! When two men share their tears they become lifelong friends, that's what my people believe and that's what I believe!" he was pulling stuff out of thin air, saying whatever was necessary to get him on his side.

"But...you didn't cry..."

"I cried on the inside after sensing the purity of love you hold for your mistress, she must be a very special person."

His face lit up instantly.
