"Haaaaah!~ What have we done?! The chosen one?! ME???"

Nae Shin was rolling around on his bed as if his butt was on fire. Hao Xuan checked outside to make sure the ghost was clear before letting out a breath of relief.

"It worked, didn't it? They let you go," he muttered while closing the door.

Nae Shin paused mid-roll to look at him with a scowl, "No, it didn't work at all! They think I'm some kind of special guy now. Lady Yi said she will come back after talking with the others, what then??"

Hao Xuan took a seat in front of him, getting comfortable.

"What are you worried about? This is the best-case scenario for you. Not only will they protect you with their lives but they won't even question anything you have said or done."

Tears welled up in Nae Shin's eyes, "T-This is not what I wanted at all!~"

*sigh*

"This is why I don't get along with kids. You want to die then? Because that's the only alternative."

"But...but what if the real chosen one appears? They will kill me the moment they think I'm a fake!"

"Relax, he won't," Hao Xuan waved his hands nonchalantly, "He has no desire to mingle with these people."

Nae Shin jumped out of bed, "W-WHAT?! Have you seen him?!"

Hao Xuan nodded, "I'm the one who brought him to the abyss. But he values his privacy so he will never reveal himself unless there is no other option and even then, he will make sure nothing happens to you."

Nae Shin fell onto his bed in relief while mumbling, "T-Thank the ancestors...I thought...I thought this was it..." making Hao Xuan chuckle.

"All you need to do is keep up the act," Hao Xuan explained what needed to be done, "Say nothing, do nothing. Ask for me if they ever want to ask any questions, tell them I am your guardian and you won't speak without me there. The less you say the better, understand? Apart from that you can enjoy their hospitality and let them spoil you. Cultivate and focus on merging with the ancestral blade. Once that's done we will leave the city the first chance we get."

After having the 'talk' with Nae Shin Hao Xuan made his down while taking note of all the changes.

'Hmm, as expected they didn't waste any time,' he thought upon sensing people behind every door that was previously empty.

The entire 3rd floor was now occupied apart from Tae Shin's and the guard's rooms. As soon as he reached the first floor Rukia came into view. She was waiting for him by the stairs.

"This way," she gestured for him to follow and Hao Xuan obliged.

She led him to the back where Bertha's office was. Inside Song Yi, Lady Saira and Bertha were waiting for him. They went quiet the moment the door opened.

Song Yi was sitting on the right while Lady Saira was on the left. In the middle was Bertha's table which was full of all kinds of fruits and fancy bottles. Bertha was barely visible behind the mound of luxurious goods.

Seeing Hao Xuan walk in without a worry Song Yi smirked, "If it isn't the slave that reached for the stars. No wonder you were so audacious. Do you think just because the chosen one has taken a liking to you, you can do whatever you want?"

Hao Xuan paid her no mind and strode on over to the table, picking up a couple of spiky fruits.

"Did you people already have these prepared? It's barely been an hour since you found out."

Song Yi's hand jerked causing an invisible rope to slap Hao Xuan's hand away.

"Those are not for the likes of you!" she exclaimed.

Hao Xuan frowned.

'Again with that. No spiritual energy, no changes in the surrounding energy. How did she do that?'

He was about to say something but Lady Saira gently intervened.

"Lady Yi please mind your words and actions, we are all on the same side," she berated before turning to him, "Sir Jin, could I trouble you for a moment? Just a few questions."

Hao Xuan looked out the window, "Sure, but I don't have much time so you will have to make it quick."

"Splendid!"

She reached down and pulled out a small mechanical gadget from an ivory box. It had dozens of dials with small marbles floating in the center of each one.

"I hope you don't mind. This little thing helps us distinguish truth from lie."

Hao Xuan's heart skipped a beat.

'?!?'

'What?!'

She tinkered with it for a few seconds by moving the dials around until all the marbles were in the center. Upon noticing Hao Xuan's burning gaze she threw out a few more details.

"You needn't worry, this will only help move the conversation along faster. If you don't want to answer any questions we can skip ahead."
