The Dawn of the New World Chapter 1551

There were Living Weapons and then there was whatever Rain was holding. It took the word "living" to a whole another level by ejecting nearly half a dozen green bone spurs from the spine of the Greatsword.

Hao Xuan immediately got the feeling that rather than one, he was up against two completely different opponents working 'somewhat' in tandem. The sword was extremely bloodthirsty and was feeding on Rain's emotions, using all his suppressed rage and anger to fuel its transformation even through the countless seals stamped upon the rags covering it.

He had no choice but to take this 'interaction' seriously simply because of the existence of the greatsword. If one of the Nine wanted the blade so badly then surely there was a lot more to it.

And being this close to it he could easily tell it wasn't anything even remotely ordinary. Hao Xuan could hear faint wisps of a gnawing, snapping monstrous creature from inside the rags.

Rain wasn't just swinging it around, he was doing so while actively suppressing the blade's real power with everything he had. It was trying to fight both of them as it became obvious from the two bone spurs that even pierced Rain's own hands.

'He has no control over the weapon at all! Simply swinging it around like that will only make the situation worse. If that thing were to get loose then there is no telling what could happen. I can only imagine what kind of a monstrous beast was used to create this blade but given that the Forgotten Horror wants it, its origin has to be quite frightening.'

Rain swung again, this time much faster and with a lot more power but with little to no control.

Hao Xuan growled, "Stop this right now!" while using his middle and forefinger to casually redirect the blade away from him.

And to his dismay, almost all of Hao Xuan's theories were proven right the second he touched the rags. An image of a gargantuan winged beast flashed past his eyes. It resembled a dragon if the dragon had been submerged in acid for several centuries.

'Motherfucker! Just what I was afraid of!' he cursed inwardly, 'They used a dragon's soul to create this blade, probably its body too. No wonder he can't tame it, no one can!'

Hao Xuan jumped back intending to make a hasty retreat but before he could get too far, Rain upped the ante by unleashing his Law and extending its domain to the entire courtyard.

"STAY!" he proclaimed from the back, making Hao Xuan slow down to a crawl and then stop altogether.

Hao Xuan's brow shot up in surprise, 'Law of Dominion?! Did this little pissant just try to-'

"TURN!" Rained gave the second command and Hao Xuan's body automatically turned to face him.

Rain was quite pleased with himself and he did not try to hide it whatsoever as he nonchalantly strutted over.

"Nowhere to run now, rat."

Hao Xuan ground his teeth out of nothing but pure annoyance and disbelief.

'I'm a rat?! You little shit stain carrying around a stolen sword and I AM A- fine! Let me reciprocate by destroying this little illusion of power that you have.'

Thinking that the fight was all but over and Hao Xuan was under his complete control, Rain walked right up to his face to peer into his eyes.

"Now, you will tell me who sent you and how you found me, or I will make the next few moments the most painful time of your life."

But the abject horror and pleading that usually came at this point was nowhere to be found. There was even a hint of a smirk hanging across Hao Xuan's lips as he fearlessly spoke up.

"No one ever taught you to fight, did they? Did you learn by just watching others?"

"What are you talking about?? Are you too stupid to understand the position you're in or just-"

Hao Xuan exhaled lightly, "Rule number one- NEVER let your guard down until you know for certain your opponent is incapacitated," and immediately broke free from the power of his Law.

Rain's pupils shrunk to the size of pinholes as he tried to distance himself but Hao Xuan was far too quick. His clawed grip rested comfortably on Rain's windpipe before he could even blink, leaving him with a scant few options- none of which included coming out of this in one piece.

Giving up on defense altogether, Rain swung the blade around with full force, making sure to at least leave Hao Xuan with a life-threatening injury even at the cost of his life.

But before the blade could get too close Hao Xuan's other hand shot out and grabbed it out of the air, stopping it cold in its tracks.

Rain's eyes widened from the shocking display of raw power and perfect technique. He lost before the fight even really began and now he was going to pay the ultimate price for it.
