The Dawn of the New World Chapter 1577
Hao Xuan could have easily snatched him out of mid-air but chose not to, and the goblin could clearly sense that.
"Ha..haha..." Longtrouble was sweating bullets as he tried to patch things up, "Dear custom- FRIEND! D-Dear friend, I swore on my family name to always fulfill my obligations and I shall never break it! The only reason- no it doesn't matter," he realized that rather than needlessly making excuses it would be better to just finish the task at hand.
He pointed at the last building with both hands, "That is where you can find the connecting doorway which leads to a neighboring Night Market."
Hao Xuan examined the simple-looking structure that appeared to have been closed for quite a while.
'There is a doorway in there that leads to another Night Market- perhaps a much larger one. Jumping from one Night Market to another could even lead straight to the inner sanctum.'
"What's the catch?" he asked, "Doesn't look like it has been used much."
"Yes, very perceptive of you!" the goblin was now going a little overboard with the needless compliments but Hao Xuan found it amusing.
"Just answer the question," he stated half-heartedly.
"Of course dear friend! There is indeed a gate there but not just anyone can use it, that is why I did not want to trouble you with such- um, pointless knowledge. It is guarded by a Champion of Great Ones and only other Champions are allowed to use the gates and solely for matters of utmost importance!"
"Huh...have you ever seen a gate like that being used?"
Longtrouble scratched his head in deep thought, "Hmmm....not that- Oh, I remember! Once, just once I saw it being used! Well- I saw someone go inside and they did not come back out. So either they were killed by the Champion or were allowed to pass through."
"Alright, thank you. You may go," Hao Xuan waved him off without much thought.
He had served his purpose quite well.
Longtrouble fixed the tight-fitted black suit and clicked his heels twice while bowing from the waist.
"It was a pleasure to have you as a customer."
By the time he straightened his back, Hao Xuan was already gone.

Back in the city around the same time, the head maid Isra was anxiously pacing back and forth in the main bedroom of the castle on the Upper floor.
"My lady please think this through," she pleaded while on the verge of a mental breakdown, "It is a terrible idea!"
"I don't have much choice now, do I?" Lady Yuki's melodic voice came from the other side of the changing screen as she hummed a tune.
"Lala la lala! Isn't it so exciting??"
Isra was biting her nails through her pristine white gloves while vigorously shaking her head, "It is NOT! My lady please, if not for yourself then do it for this poor servant of yours. My heart won't be able to take it!"
Lady Yuki's head popped out from the other side of the changing screen to curiously look around the room, "What poor servant? Where are they? I thought it was just us two..." (A reference Image for her is posted in discord)
Unable to take Lady Yuki's jokes, Isra fell to her knees while clutching her head.
"If you must go then you will do so over my dead body!"
After a few seconds of intense silence Lady Yuki walked out from behind the screen, acting like she never heard the last sentence.
"What do you think?" she asked while turning around, "It doesn't stand out too much does it?"
Isra's anxiousness did not lessen one bit even while she wholeheartedly complimented her mistress.
"My lady is the most beautiful person I have ever seen. Of course she will stand out wherever she goes- which is why this is a VERY bad idea!"
Lady Yuki walked up to her and extended a hand to help Isra up.
"My lady-" Isra tried to protest but her tone turned serious.
"I have to do this," she said solemnly, "Nae Shin is unaware of his half-brother's motives so I must find out who Tae Shin wanted me to meet. He sent me a message just a few hours before his disappearance saying that he knew someone who could shed light on those last few days- just before father, mother, and everyone else at the estate was killed."
Isra got up and gently held Lady Yuki's hand while looking into her eyes pleadingly.
"My lady, digging into the past will only bring you more pain. How can you expect to move forward when you keep looking back? You need to focus on the present- there is a lot that needs your attention."
"And I will," Lady Yuki assuringly patted the back of her hand, "This is the last time, I swear it. With this disguise no one will be able to tell it is me. I will visit the old shops and follow the trail of the mysterious man that Uncle Rufgar was talking about, once I am sure there is nothing to do there I will come back before anyone notices I'm gone."
