The Dawn of the New World Chapter 1591
Hao Xuan hastily returned to the inn within the Night Market but Vlitgar still wasn't out so he chose to check out the bounty board instead.
It was probably the best method to make Cursed Gold depending on the kind of requests one took.
Hao Xuan looked around and found it within the blink of an eye since it stood out against the otherwise shoddy background. It was located next to the staircase which was quite a busy spot but not a single person stopped by to interact with it.
As its name suggested it was a simple brown board with a black background. The only thing written on it were the instructions on how to use it.
'Hmm. Place a hand upon the board and it will detect the Mark to reveal all relevant requests. Some requests have specific restrictions and only the ones that the user qualifies for will be revealed. Hah! Sounds like privacy is quite important to them, who would have thought!'
He was amused by the idea of an 'evil cult' of no-good doers like them caring that much about each other's privacy.
'It sounds quite reasonable and best of all, it won't bring me any trouble from the ones here,' Hao Xuan thought looking at the hundreds of creatures busying themselves at the inn.
Usually, in these circumstances, it was common for people to come pick a fight with the new guy but...no one was even looking at him anymore.
'Looks like they are really afraid of Vlitgar. His presence in the building alone will keep them at bay.'
Hao Xuan placed his right hand on the board and covertly called out all Nine of the marks.
All the hubbub abruptly died down prompting Hao Xuan to look back out of curiosity.
'Huh?'
Time had come to a standstill. Everything and everyone without exception were frozen in their spots.
His attention was pulled back to the bounty board when it expanded to over 10 meters. Hundreds, thousands, TENS of thousands of requests all came pouring out on its previously empty surface.
For a second Hao Xuan was confused by all the strange happenings until he realized-
'Oh, this is all in my head. Since it feels like a mix of a dreamscape and illusionary magic I am guessing it's probably something truly ancient. This way no one can spy on anyone even if they tried, how thoughtful...'
He was impressed, partly by the seamless implementation and partly by all the effort they put in to pull it off.
Once finished admiring the handiwork of whichever Old God that created this, Hao Xuan redirected his attention towards the countless requests. There were more than he cared to count so he began categorizing them.
"Too many, show me only the ones that have the lowest difficulty."
The requests fell to just over three thousand, which he thought was good expecting to knock them out one after the other but when he started going over them, it became obvious that was not going to be the case.
They were as varied as they were numerous.
Some were pretty simple, asking for rare spiritual herbs and plants that grew in specific places or other 'ingredients' like ten Onyx-tailed Ape claws freshly procured.
Roughly 40% of the available requests were like that, related to item acquisition of one kind or another and they could only be done once.
Then there were those that were a bit more peculiar and they could be repeated any number of times to reap the same benefits.
Offering anywhere between ten to a hundred virgins as a sacrifice to some archaic deity, butchering a certain number of worshippers of the new gods, inciting chaos and bloodshed in the Greater World, causing violence and mass panic in the name of certain Gods, etc.
'These are the easiest ones??'
Hao Xuan was speechless reading the 'requests' that sounded like war crimes being read aloud.
All such requests made up 35-40% of the ones currently available to him.
"What are the rest like? Surely they can't be much worse than these..."
Or so he hoped and prayed and thankfully some of those prayers were answered.
The remaining requests were all quite normal ranging from some common ones like the long-term but low-risk escort and guard missions to work orders asking for specific things to be crafted.
There were a few uniquely odd ones that asked for specific blessings in exchange for Cursed Gold.
'Huh, someone is offering 500CG in exchange for a blessing of the Slumbering One called the 'Silent Night'. That doesn't sound like a bad deal if I'm being honest, as long as it doesn't cost more than a hundred Favour.'
Another request was offering 3400CG for a blessing of the King in Red called the 'Vermillion Wine'.
There were hundreds of similar requests but it was the last few dozen that stood out the most.
