The Dawn of the New World Chapter 1627
Hao Xuan was projecting a portion of his soul outside the periphery of these lands to fight an enemy he had never encountered before.
In a bid to overwhelm him, it attacked from every conceivable direction all at once and without pause. All he could 'see' and discern was the relentless torrent of turbid umbral energies trying to snuff him out and overtake the lands that were bound to him.
It had no physical form but struck with the might of a thousand Ivory Chargers.
It had no teeth but still gnawed at his very being trying to rip its way through.
But it would not be that easy.
He was made for this! Built to fight wars that most mortals could not hope to comprehend in a hundred lifetimes!
Hao Xuan's soul power surged with every passing moment as his Spiritual Threads focused the power into a dozen different swords.
[First Step-]
The blades forged from pure soul power cut through the darkness faster than it could recover heaving left, right, up and down simultaneously, rendering the invading forces into fragments that were immediately set alight by a purple flame.
It roared- whatever it was- giving Hao Xuan a much-needed confidence boost because if it could feel pain, then it could be dealt with in a multitude of different ways
The thousands of meters long ethereal blades slowly shrunk and faded away as Hao Xuan's soul dimmed and flickered out of existence.
He opened his eyes back in the physical realm just in time to catch the shackles crawling up his arm and reattaching themselves to the iron collar.
*sigh*
[What happened??]
Ryuk's voice caught Hao Xuan off guard.
"!!!!"
"How many times did I tell you not to sneak up on me like that?!" he angrily berated.
[Once? I don't remember! And I did not 'sneak' up on you, I have been for some time]
"You have?" Hao Xuan paused, "I couldn't feel your presence..."
[Must be because of whatever you just did. It was a lot!]
"What was?"
[Everything! Things were floating, your eyes were very dangerous looking and then everything went away]
"Yeah that was- unexpected. I tried using an old scripture but without my physical body I only had soul power to depend on and it was NOT made for that. I used up far too much."
[It's because you've gotten lazy! Chasing females and letting them do all kinds of things to you- shameless!]
"??"
"Huh? What the hell are you even talking about- never mind. I don't even want to know," Hao Xuan shooed him away before admitting to himself, "But maybe I have been a little lazy."
He placed the pup down and covered it up with some rags before moving to the other side of the hideout. With a wave of his hand three swords were called out from one of the several storage rings in his possession.
He placed them in front of him and stepped back to release the spiritual threads.
They dug into the veil but this time something was different. The image in his head of the other side was much sharper and a LOT clearer!
"Hmm?"
He could even make out the indentations on the handle of the swords as the threads wrapped around them.
The swords rose into the air in front of Hao Xuan and swung up and down according to his wishes.
"A little slow and heavy, the weight seems off somehow..." he muttered to himself while recalling a basic sword technique.
"Forward slash!" he ordered and the swords moved one after the other, each one a little off.
"Backward slash!"
The swords swung back but one of them ended up rotating twice more.
[Hah! Such terrible swordsmanship!]
Ryuk jeered from somewhere to the left but when one of the blades shot across the space and dug into the wall beside him silence fell over.
"Oops," Hao Xuan coldly commented while walking over to dig the sword out of the cement, "It is dangerous to interrupt people when they are training with such sharp tools. Be careful not to get hurt out there..."
[.....]
This time Hao Xuan held one sword in his hand and only controlled the other two with the spiritual threads.
He repeated the movements again but without giving verbal commands this time.
They swung faster and could make a lot more precise movements following after him.
This continued for another half an hour until he was satisfied with the progress.
'Phew, that's a lot better,' he thought to himself while wiping the sweat off his brow, 'So it's not just about visualizing the movements but understanding everything else that comes along with it. From the displacement of the air to the effect of gravity. Its even more complicated than learning the movement set in the first place.'
He picked up the sword again and continued the same process with another basic sword technique.
This went on and on until daybreak when his concentration was broken when he sensed something moving on his chest.
